Tendre Nuit by Isabey

Hi there Posse. Let’s talk about my Tendre Nuit. A while ago I saw that Isabey was doing 15ml Travel Size. As someone with enough perfume to last 100 people over 100 years it excites me when something 10-20ml comes along. Yeah, it’s a more expensive per ml shopping experience. Why spend the extra money for 100ml? That means you’ll wear it a few times and then it will probably go back in its box, in another large box, in the cupboard? 15ml also means it’s perfect for travelling, right? Excellent size for a carry on.

Parfumo gives these featured accords:
Top: Almond, Pink pepper
Heart: Rose, Rose absolute, Ambrette seed
Base: Ambroxan, Benzoin, Cashmeran, Vanilla

Interestingly Fragrantica calls Tendre Nuit an Oriental Floral but Parfumo names it a Sweet Synthetic. Both are applicable, and I know the problem with the word Orient, but Sweet Synthetic sounds ghastly.

The almond/pink pepper opening is jazzed up by some indefinable fruity sugariness. Like those hard candies that purport to have a flavour but are just sugary something something something. It’s sweet, pretty and glossy but with the dry almond fleshiness it adds nuance and grounding. Not particularly tender or nocturnal.

The heart is good, I like the way ambrette and almond work together here. The rose doesn’t really show much for me. Maybe it’s my skin/nose but I’m not smelling any of me rose reference points, garden or scent.

Vanilla, almond, musk and some soft focus woods make up the dry down. It makes itself known around the hour mark and stays puffing quietly away for ages. A subtle warmth on my skin that isn’t quite a skin scent but maybe a freshly bathed, just out off the bathroom skin scent. You know, skin plus?

Leaning femme but excellent dude wear too. I like the way Tendre Nuit makes me smell for the whole ride. You can see there’s already quite a bit of air enemy 15ml Travel.

On seeing the Isabey Travel Pack I’m kind of bummed that I didn’t get that. How freaking cute is the set and I can imagine it being perfect for adventures. Also good for throwing one in your purse/messenger. The variety is fairly femme oriented but I would still rock the lot.

Patty also mentions Isabey Gardenia in her Gardenia post.

Could you see yourself wearing something pretty like Tendre Nuit?

  • Makeup says:

15 ml is by far the best format for perfume. Awesome.

  • AnnieA says:

Most of the time these days it’s only Pretty Perfumes.

  • Tara C says:

I happened to pick this up at the Beautyhabit sale a while ago and it’s very pretty. If I had seen the coffret I would have bought that, wowzers! So perfect.

    • Portia says:

Yeah, I’m a little bummed that I never saw the coffers. As soon as I’m back earning again they are definitely making a sale.

  • Cassieflower says:

Those 15 ml bottles are like catnip to me. Why can’t every manufacturer do a 10-15 ml? Luckily I cannot get my mitts on the Isabey line here. I have only tried the Gardenia from this house, quite a few years ago, and while it was really lovely I wasn’t tempted to shell out for a full bottle. I’m not even going to have a peek at this. Too ascared.

    • Portia says:

Yeah, 15ml are EXACTLY the same for me to Cassieflower. I want them all.
In my head I think, PERFECT for holidays. Then, invariably while packing for the holiday, I grab a couple of old favourites, an Hermès Travel or two and a handful of decants. Everything else gets left in the Travel Size box.

  • Patty says:

I generally really like the Isabeys, so this sound lovely! And that travel set, I had NO idea they had that. I need to hunt that down.

  • Kathleen says:

Hi Portia! Hope all is well with you and Jin.
I am thrilled that you have talked about Isabey. I love their perfume and bottles, all of them!
Aedes in the US carries the travel bottles. xx

  • March says:

This sounds INCREDIBLE. Off to investigate how to get ahold of some at a good price point…

  • Bee says:

I do love a 15-20 ml treat and I wish more companies produced them. This whole house has sadly passed me by – despite having some beautiful eye catching bottles. Only a few very rarified stockists in the UK. If any one of them had the travel set I would be very tempted!

    • Portia says:

      Hey there Bee,
I’m thinking the whole travel set for myself to be honest. The bottles are lovely, great size and everything I’ve tried by the house has been safe but beautiful.
