A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.
You can also comment on everyone else SOTD choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and Perfume Posse people love to chat. We like to keep it fragrant but there’s always room for life events and adventures too. This is our place to share how we smell, live, love, eat, work, raise kids and pets and get on with the business of living.
SOTD 16.10.2020
You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz. Whenever you feel the mood take you, share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at Perfume Posse, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.
Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your SOTD comment. Then you can reply to them, and so on.
Go To It Crew.

Today I’m in a dupe of something that’s supposed to be No. 5, but is much more aligned to L’Aimant. It is totally fabulous, and longevity is superb. I had a sniff of it a couple of weeks back from the tester but we had sprayed so many that I didn’t know which one it was, so yesterday we were back out sniffing. Was astounded to be buying the No.5 dupe – I really do not like that at all, but as I said, this could be an excellent copy of L’Aimant. And for the peasantly price of €9.99.
Lilylang from Delacourte today. It’s a serviceable light floral and the tuberose is there, but not stomping on me.
Yep, it’s light n lovely I think.
Paco by Paco Rabanne. Seems Puig has brought it back, so glad. Similar to but airier and a little sweeter than the vintages I’ve smelled.
Coramandel extrait
PHWOAR! Gorgeous
It’s an Anubis kinda day.
OOOOOH! Lovely choice Cassieflower. Did it fit the mood?
Portia xx
It sure did. Mind you, it always does.
Angel Muse, nutty, just like the interior of my head?
HA!
Woo Hoo!
When you feel like smelling sublime… Vintage Opium Secret de Parfum. I smell so good.
Portia xx
Ditto the woohoo! You are smelling sublimely fabulous dahling.
For cleaning day I started out in The Beat Man by Burberry. Now it’s Habit Rouge by Guerlain.
House is done, laundry washed and hung.
Time to start writing TRIVIA Q&A!

Today, I’m wearing Kyoto (and also some of my latest DSH sample: Sweet Pine Tar). They go well together. Yesterday, I wore Boyfriend Dry Oil – a great Saturday fragrance, smooth, warm, a little vanilla. Friday was all about Chergui.
Hey – I tried to post on Friday (I think? or Sat) and kept getting the message that my post was spam!?
Heya SpringPansy,
Sometimes WordPress glitches. It even happens to us writers here. BLOODY ANNOYING, we get it. Sorry.
You’ve been wearing the good stuff though.
Are you in on DSH’s seasonal pack? Dawn sends a bunch of new stuff and some forgotten beauties each season, so cool. Very affordable too.
Portia xx
Hi SpringPansey. I finally solved my problem with this by deleting all Perfume Posse cookies when it happens, then it’s OK again for a while. It might work for you too.
VC & A First Intense. The notes per Fragrantica don’t list aldehydes but I can smell aldehydes, therefore I would call it an aldehydic floral, not unlike FM Superstitious.
Is it much like original First Cassieflower?
Portia xx
Not so much, the original is more sedate. This has a nice bit of sparkle.
Ahhhh.
Vintage Le 3e Homme by Caron.
The fragrance is terrific in old and new. Lavender and clove together are so interesting, especially with alll that fluffy, furry moss as a base.
On my way out to take my BFFs Dad shopping at the hardware and chemist. We are going to have SAUSAGE SIZZLE!
Portia xx
Aroma M Botan oil. Lovely and lasts all day. On me it is mostly vanilla so if I want to wear something else later it usually works out very well.
Good choice Maya.

Wearing Montale Chocolate Greedy today which is appropriate. I just finished nibbling the last bit of the chocolate chip skillet cookie I made a couple of days ago. I gave almost half of it to the neighbors though, so there’s that!
What is a skillet cookie NancyC?
Portia xx
It’s a batch of chocolate chip cookie dough, but pressed into a cast iron skillet and baked into one giant cookie. I fell three weeks ago and broke a couple of fingers, so I can’t fool with baking individual cookies. But a skillet cookie….yeah, I can do that!
OMG! I’m going to try it. AMAZING
Wearing another favorite indie today…Nui Cobalt Designs…with another great name for a perfume. Murder of Crows which has nag champa, smoldering myrrh, and tobacco sparked with clove bud, violet, fir needle, star anise, and currant. A murder of crows and an unkindness of ravens…one might think people have something against groups of these awesome birds. I am fortunate to live in a place where they are everywhere and have learned to distinguish their “calls.”
WOW Carolyn,
We have a few crows in the area but the Australian Magpie is our crow of choice. They are VERY territorial and will dive bomb unsuspecting walkers and bikers.
Interestingly, if one Magpie in the area knows and trusts you then they all do. Even with the dogs which all the other birds dive and at make noise towards the Magpies are all so chill. We can walk within a meter of them without ruffling a feather,
Portia xx
Fantastic perfume name. It sounds delish. The crows gather on the telephone wire behind my house, they have serious parties sometimes.

BRIGITTE!! You dropped in, and wearing CHANEL. Yay! So nice to see you.
Portia xx
Sorry, P, life has been crazy lately.
Hugs and love.
Hope it all calms down nicely soon.
Portia xx
Waving to you B. Will mail soon.
Hi sweetie, I hope things calm down for you soon!
I’m double-dosing today: SOIVOHLE’s Woodfire and Rain absolute oil under Oriza Legrand’s Muguet Fleuri. Sweet and dry, without a trace of smoke. The contrast makes the white flowers sing 🙂
Thanks to Portia for telling me about SOIVOHLE.
It’s so good that I’ll probably wearing this combo all week. Sigh. Happy sniffing after a couple of weeks of fighting with samples 🙂
Hey Ariel,
Liz Zorn makes some seriously beautiful perfumes. A little weird but all wearable art.
What a combo! Sounds scrumptious.

Wearing a comforting favorite on a damp, chilly day: Mademoiselle Guerlain. Have a great weekend posse peeps. Hope I see some of you Sunday evening on zoom. Love, Dina
Oops, just saw that Sunday’s Zoom is cancelled. Rats! Well, I’ll just look forward to the next one. Love all the great vintage scents everyone is wearing today!
Sorry DinaC.
It’s a ZOOM POSSE bummer.
Mademoiselle Guerlain! So lovely.

Just got a vintage bottle of my all time favorite Chanel No. 22 in the mail this week and have spritzed with abandon. I intend to stockpile as long as I can find vintage! The current version smells similar for about 30 seconds, then it’s . . . . just . . . . gone.
oh my – you must smell wonderful! Love the originals of Chanel in vintage
LOVED CHANEL No 22 and have some vintage EdC and EdT. Sadly the top notes have started to attack me and it’s instant headache now. Sad face.
Portia xx
You will bring those to me when you come to the States.
So I went back into my archived bottles not sure what I’d find for the first cool day (75 deg :-)) and there was P&L EFOTS so I spritzed it for the first time in probably 10 years. I think this or Miller Harris Coeur d’ Ete were my first bottles. Still smells like an Italian Cream Cake. Was considering RL Safari parfum but wasn’t up for a challenge. I’m working from today. PSA 😉
I have forgotten what P&L EFOTS stands for Mak1203. Was it a super huge hype train at the time? I have memories but vague.

FM Musc Ravageur. This is like the opposite of Dans Tes Bras and both are by Maurice Roucel. He has created some great perfumes, including my much loved SL Iris Silver Mist.
Agree on the perfumer! Enjoy MR and Le Lebo Labdanum which I will most definitely wear tomorrow. ??
LOVE Musc Ravageur Maya. I don’t wear it often but have hoarded a small collection of the earliest bottles. SO divine.
Portia xx
I’m wearing a perfume from one of my fave indie brands, Death and Floral. I love the names of their perfume oils as well. This one is Mountain Cats Will Come to Drag Away Your Bones and the fragrance notes are: Pepper, Laurel Leaf, Wood, Musk, Tobacco, Amber, fresh mountain air.
I love that name!!! xoxox
WOW! That name. Imagine being asked what you’re wearing! HA!

Just scanned the comments — seems like this is a VERY VINTAGE day for many of us!
After several warm-ish days it’s cool and rainy today and I’m wearing vintage YSL Paris, just cuz I can!
I used to wear the SNOT outta YSL Paris! I need to revisit! xoxoxo
YSL Paris was one of Mum’s daytime scents for a while. What a beautiful fragrance, so glam and rich.
You smell gorgeous March.
Portia xx
I’m in Armani Prive Cuir Amethyste, which was the first of the Prive line to cross my path – and it’s still my favorite. Perfect for this freeze-into-warmth time of year. That touch of violet seems perfect right now, even though violets are long gone. xoxoxo
OMG! My favourite from the line too Musette! Love Cuir Amethyst!
Portia xx
Oh yummmmm, one of my earliest too!
Also my favourite from Armani Prive – a wonderful atypical violet scent. will try that once Dans res Bras fades from my arm since it is SNOWING here in the Twin Cities and definitely want a reminder of spring…..
I KNOW! My son sent a vid of the event (he’s just down the street from you guys in WI). Y’all are CRAZY! xoxo
Frederic Malle Lipstick Rose. I am re-visiting a sample from when I was exploring “makeup” scents and I believe this is the best version. Very well-blended gorgeous perfume and it feels like me.
Hey Kathleen,
I have a bottle of Lipstick rose. Thanks for the reminder. YUM!

The NST community project today is to revisit something you tried early in your perfumista journey. My choice is Goutal Vanille Exquise. I spent my first months exploring perfumes with vanilla notes and this was the first bottle that I ordered online after trying a sample pack. I loved that it wasn’t foody, still do. It’s more prim and proper than most of the perfumes I choose these days but I won’t ever swap it away.
I think Annick Goutal played a role in so many perfumistas journeys MMKinPA. Me too. I can’t remember which was first but it might have been Songes. Now I have quite a few.
Portia xx
What a beautiful scent.
I’ve super spritzed 24 Faubourg by Hermès and now am sitting in a cloud of white flowers with all the trimmings. So thick and rich, a reminder of when perfume was more everything than it is today.
Portia xx
huh. the ether ate my earlier comment wherein I said I wanted to sit next to you, Portia. Still do, though 😉 xoxoxo
BUMMER!
Yeah, that would be fun.
I was a little OVER fragrant for the bus today. He He He. It would have been good to have you next to me.
Portia xx
Malle’s Dans tes Bras. Never used to like it. Now I love it – a lovely lightly earthy violet with a touch of incense and musk as it dries down. No heliotrope at all, thank goodness.
Woo Hoo! Lovely choice KimB.
