SOTD 30.10.2020

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else SOTD choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and Perfume Posse people love to chat. We like to keep it fragrant but there’s always room for life events and adventures too. This is our place to share how we smell, live, love, eat, work, raise kids and pets and get on with the business of living.

Perfume Posse SOTD

SOTD 30.10.2020

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz. Whenever you feel the mood take you, share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at Perfume Posse, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your SOTD comment. Then you can reply to them, and so on.

Go To It Crew.

    Tuberose Flash.

  • Cassieflower says:

    Lots and lots of Coco.

  • Neva says:

Patricia de Nicolai’s Cuir Cuba Intense. I didn’t wear it a long time and almost sold the bottle because the licorice note suddenly became too strong for my nose. I felt nauseous after I’ve sprayed it on last year :-/ Recently I gave it another chance and I enjoy it again BUT only two sprays at once…moderate does it in this case.

O M G! Wearing Adam Levine For Her today. SO MANY COMPLIMENTS! It was crazy. People following my scent trail to ask what it was, all day and into the night. Long after I’d stopped smelling anything they kept asking.

Antonia’s Flowers Tiempe Passate for another walk to the cemetery. It’s a lovely sunny day.

  • Cassieflower says:

Started off with Aromatics Elixir Parfum but it was a bit tame so I’ve just spritzed on some Opium. Yasss, that’s what I was looking for!

  • Melanie says:

L’artisian’s Mure et Musc for me and today’s burst of heat here. It’s floating lovely, being musky, berry and a tad citrus.

  • Ariel says:

Areej Le Dore’s Baikal Gris. It has a super bright opening of Vick’s crossed with camphor, but then goes warm, cozy, fresh. Woods by the sea?

      • Ariel says:

I got waaaaaaay more balsam fir after the first couple of days. The vanilla-amber has everything else on a gentle lead, the cedar keeps the fir from popping too loud in the fire, and the medicinal aspects are all but gone. Is warm-woodsy-skank a thing? Because that’s what it smells like on me and I’ve never felt so known.

  • Cassieflower says:

Heeley L’Amandière, a dewy, blurry floral. Delicate and springlike (if I subscribed to seasonal perfume, which I don’t).Quite fleeting on me but I enjoyed reapplying.

    • Portia says:

Most of the Heeley’s seem short lived to me, but the fragrances! So gorgeous.

    • Neva says:

I love, love, love L’amandiere but I’ve never bought a full bottle. Yes, it’s truly a spring scent with all the hyacinths and grass. Oh, I want it now….

  • Melanie says:

Enjoying wearing my Strangers Perfumes Salted Green Mango today. It’s a little sour, sweet, citrus and creamy all at the same time. Don’t need a lot and it does last which is great. This house has lots of interesting scents – Oliver is another I am in love with.

  • Portia says:

Sorry I’ve been MIA this week.
Today I’m cleaning, washing and writing Trivia Q&A. Love my Mondays. Wearing quite a lot of Dent de Lait by Serge Lutens. In my head it sounds like Don’t Delay! Milky floral with a metallic tang, weird and pretty.

Pierre Guillaume Myrrhiad, so gorgeous. Cool and sunny here (Seattle) and I’ll be cooking and watching a little football. Walked 9 miles yesterday doing errands and going for a beer at a local microbrewery.

    • SpringPansy says:

I have so much trouble posting here sometimes – the first two times I tried today, I got the message that my comment was spam. This keeps happening to me – am I doing something wrong? I’d like to post more, but sometimes I just give up.

      • Portia says:

        Hi SpringPansy,
We have the dreaded WordPress glitch here at the Posse sometimes. It comes and goes. Patty has had it seen to and fixed numerous times and it keeps coming back. Sorry. it’s annoying for us too.

    • Neva says:

I like the way you spent the day. How is Myrrhiad? I’ve tried only a few PG’s, there’s been no distributor in my country until maybe a few weeks ago. Unfortunately they don’t have the complete range, Myrrhiad is not among them.

      • SpringPansy says:

        Hi Neva,
I like myrrh and I like vanillas with a twist, so Myrrhiad is right up my alley. Fragrantica says it’s a “warm oriental fragrance that contains ingredients of myrrh, leather, black tea, vanilla and licorice.” But my box from Pierre Guillaume (my bottle is the ceramic white one PG’s from Huitieme Art brand) says: “Warm and sensual with notes of amber and balsam, Myrrhiad is an oriental perfume that celebrates all the facets of this ancestral resin, enhanced in this fragrance by the leathery, animal dimension of black tea absolute interlaced with a cocktail of different vanillas an liquorice.” and this is more accurate to my nose – myrrh, lots of vanilla, a dash of licorice and black tea – it doesn’t really have leather, just that aspect of the black tea absolute. It’s not super powerful or long lasting which is also fine with me. Hope this helps!

    • Portia says:

Myrrhiad is so beautiful SpringPansy. I never understood why people hated the Huitieme Art bottles so much. I thought them beautiful and ingenious.

Sample thunk of JHAG Moscow Mule. A lovely fresh citrus number that did not last for long on me at all.

  • Neva says:

Amouage Epic for a night at the opera.

  • Cassieflower says:

Angels Share. I don’t find it too boozy. I’d wear it anytime and anywhere. Well blended. Totally unisex.

    • Alityke says:

I was pseudoshopping yesterday & had both Myrrhiad & Angel’s Share in my cart. Still deciding whether to pull the trigger but can’t decide which.
I did trigger on 3 FM travel sprays. Dries van Noten, Musc Rav & Outrageous.
The new lockdown has sent me into a scent buying spiral. I really should get on da Bay to sell on the bottles I never reach for anymore. Fingers crossed I pull my finger out & balance the books

  • MMKinPA says:

Multiple sprays of Jungle l’Elephant for a cold and damp day. Don’t care if I’m gassing anyone out. Quit my not-teaching job yesterday- no music allowed in the COVID era so I was doing admin tasks but I was miserable. Going to spend some time focusing on my tiny fledgling photography business.

    • Musette says:

Congratulations! Wishing you all the best! xoxoxo

    • Neva says:

I wish you luck with your new business. Photography is great, so creative and fulfilling. My ex husband is a photographer and he’s one of the few people I know who are truly in love with his profession.

    • Portia says:

      OOOOOHHHH! MMKinPA!
That’s a huge and brave step. Fingers crossed for you and the new venture. You’ll do great.
Are you allowed to have private music students? It seems so weird that Trump can have rallies and you can’t teach music. You’d think it would be less toxic?

Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline edp for me today, which I love since it’s light and comforting. Perfect for my mood today. Happy weekend all!

  • Musette says:

it’s the kind of day where I’m thankful when it’s a robocall! LOL! What a morning – and it’s only 10a! I’m coked to the gills in AdP’s Iris Nobile – I’m finished with (hopefully) my last Critical Call of the day, going to walk The Girl, then go plant some peony roots. Iris Nobile mixes well with the scent of cooling, slightly damp earth. Happy Friday, everyone!!! xoxoxo

  • Kathleen says:

A sample of Serge Lutens Nuit de Cellophane. Gorgeous Osmanthus, mandarin, and jasmine. Can’t stop sniffing my wrist!

  • Portia says:

Just had a super hot Tabu bubble bath. Dousing myself in Vendetta woman by Valentina.

  • Ann says:

Last night I wore aromatics Elixir to bed, it was great for a cold blustery night! but I didn’t care for the dry down when I woke up. Today I am wearing narciso red cube – very powdery – it reminds me of Dior pure poison without the jasmine.

  • Neva says:

ELDO’s Like This! Why didn’t I buy it earlier? I’m enjoying this perfume so much.
Right now I’m drinking a hot ginger tea and cooking a pumpkin cream soup. How convenient 🙂
