Impact Intense by Tommy Hilfiger

Hi there Posse. My mate Ainslie gave Jin and me a couple of bottles of perfume that she’d been given but didn’t want. I scored a Tom Ford (more on that later) and Jin got Tommy Hilfiger Impact Intense. Surprise! It’s excellent on him. Then we had a few friends over for a perfume nerd sniffathon the next night. While we all agreed it was at least 100% better than it needed to be it was the only girl on site, Hyun, who swooned. Of all the things we sniffed on that evening. there would have been 40+ mouillettes with gorgeous designer, vintage designer, niche, indie and all sorts, it was the affordable, modern, aimed at the lower level bro market that caught and held her fancy. She even called afterwards to check she had the right name. We offered her a decant.

Impact Intense by Tommy Hilfiger

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Top: Red Apple, Elemi resin, Bergamot
Heart: Chestnut, Cardamom, Amber, Labdanum
Base: Atlas Cedar, Virginia Cedar, Texas Cedar, Akigalawood, Sandalwood

Here’s the thing, Impact Intense isn’t particularly groundbreaking. It’s a woody amber with a few bells and whistles. Even from the very first spritzer’s a resinous amber fragrance. Yeah, it’s a little nutty and maybe if I squint hard there is some cardamom through the heart but everything else is woods and amber. Smooth, rich, simple and very wearable.

Longevity is out of this world, a double spritz of Impact Intense on my forearm still has vestiges of fragrance tomorrow morning. It takes a bath to stop it pumping out lovely low levels of woody amber. On a scent strip? It’s pretty much eternal.

I love that Hyun is madly crazy for it and it smells really terrific on her It. A warm, woody amber smells so good (I might be biased, it’s probably my favourite genre).

The stores here in Oz have already stopped stocking Impact Intense by Tommy Hilfiger but most of the discounters still have it for a pretty good price.

Could you? Would you?

PS: I went looking for other Hilfiger perfumes on Perfume Posse and found this hilarious beat down of Tommy Girl! by Patty. My BFF wears it a lot and on her it doesn’t smell at all like Patty relates, but I did get a good chuckle.

Hello, I would appreciate it if you could help me. I bought this perfume, but the batch in the bottle is different from the batch in the box. “a52” on the box and a42 on the bottle.
    Does this mean it’s fake?

Dupe Parfum.fr is a real paradise for lovers of perfumes at affordable prices. Their selection is vast, the prices are attractive and the fast delivery makes it possible to quickly benefit from the new fragrances. I highly recommend them!

    Hello

  • MMKinPA says:

Sounds intriguing although cedar on me is often a no-go. I admit to never having heard of this one, although I don’t do a good job of keeping up as I am pretty overwhelmed just by looking in my own closet these days!

    • Portia says:

      HA! MMKinPA, I hear you.
Had this not been given to Jin we probably never would have come across it.
I never see the whole wardrobe at once anymore, well for the last 6 months, because I’m trying to run down the samples and decants. I’m missing it though,

  • March says:

Okay, this is probably not my particular thing, but I love it when someone (including me!) finds a cheap mainstream scent and loooooves it, everything doesn’t have to be niche or fancy! And it doesn’t sound like it hangs around in some awful way, we’ve all been there with scents that eventually work our last nerve. How fun to be able to experience this with friends!

    • Portia says:

Hey March, it is pretty longterm and does sound the same note at the end. If diversity in fragrance is important to you it might in fact scratch your last nerve. HA! Jin just wants to smell good, no major hang ups about how it happens. So wandering into his orbit and smelling it on him is a perfect way to enjoy this.
Oh yes, sniffing with friends is always fun. Any chance I can.

  • Dina C. says:

This one is not my lane of the highway, judging by the notes, but how great is that that it has super longevity and was perfect for someone else? Love seeing anyone find a scent and swoon over it.

  • alityke says:

Never found TH scent or clothing to be my sort of thing.
The clothes were far too designer shouty & most of the scents spoke in a faux American accent of the 90’s to my ears.
Though I might need to reacquaint myself with Tommy Girl. Looking on discounter sites it looks like they almost pay you to get it off their hands (joke of course)

    • Portia says:

HA! My BFF wears Tommy Girl. It smells so different on her to anyone else I ever smelled it on. Like something about her sends it in a completely different direction. Still fresh but very spicy.

  • cinnamon says:

Hmmm, this sounds like way too much cedar, which I find can be scratchy and loud in mainstream men’s perfume. However, I expect TH stuff is available at the local department store so I think I should have a go next time I’m there.

    • Portia says:

I’d love to hear what you think Cinnamon. Every time Jin wears it I ask him what fragrant delight he’s pumping. To me, on him, it smells very good. Huggable, lean in close and sniffable.

  • Tom says:

I have to admit I never did Tommy Anything. I always kind of considered him Ralph Lauren Lite and never understood his inner-city popularity (dude makes me look positively ethnic..) He cleared out a local store from Rodeo and constructed a giant wedding cake of a store that I thought he’d hang onto for six months before it was sold to RL. I remember the opening had all sorts of models who were cruising the street before the opening party (I saw Marcus Shenkenberg wandering around) and it was a Big Deal. He proved me wrong- he lasted almost 2 years and Brooks Brothers took over the space, which I found ironic, since if Tommy was RL lite, then RL was Brooks But Flashy.

Which all boils down to: not really interested. It doesn’t read like I’d hate it, but it does seem like it has the half life of plutonium, so I’ll pass..

    • Portia says:

Since Hilfiger has started advertising with all the colours of the rainbow skin tones and made obvious moves to share the fun with all races and creeds we have started shopping with him again Tom. Had we been given this bottle 3 or 4 years ago we would have politely declined.

As to its longevity, you’re right. Almost eternal.

  • Maya says:

I like your story, but as to the perfume, NEVER. I cannot even begin to express how much I loathe and hate Akigalawood.

    • Portia says:

HA! Maya, I’m sorry to read Akigalawood attacks you so ferociously.
Thankfully there are a gazillion other perfume choices for you.
