Cheap & Cheerful: Tesori d’Oriente Mirra & Hammam

And it’s Blame Musette time!

She wrote about the white musk body cream of this line and I had to go to the dreaded Amazon and order.

The wrong thing.

I just ordered a bottle of perfume that looked like the white musk packaging without really paying attention, which I can’t even blame on impairment since my drinking days are long over.

I ordered Mirra (myrrh) which looked like it should have been white musk. As a matter of fact, Amazon insists it is (see photo). Now it easily could be. If it’s myrrh then it’s pretty demure (demyrrh?) with none of the spicy, smoky, or balsamic elements that I think of when I think of myrrh. This is kind of like one of the three wise men were carrying a box of dryer sheets. It does get a little spicy as time rolls on, but nothing that would scare the horses. Since I was buying this thinking I would perfume the sheets with it, I don’t rue my whopping $18.21 investment but would have liked it if there was a bigger bottle. But it’s cheap and cheerful, not free and funky.

Hammam is trying to say it’s clementine. It’s not, really. It’s much more of a floral with touches of candied citrus peel, and, oddly that missing myrrh. As it goes on I even gat a slight whiff of peppermint in there. Not so much that I think the wise men were bringing Altoids to the Baby Jesus, but it’s in there. Were I in the habit of carrying handkerchiefs and needed something to sprtiz my “mouchoir” at $15.81 this would be a bargain. Well, at $15.81 it is a bargain, period.

Have you tried any of these Tesori d’Oriente? I even see that they do fabric softeners, at least in the musk. I’d love to give that a try..

My bottles were purchased at Amazon.

For those of you who might be interested, here is my latest car-related post.

I… BLARTED! The Wise Men! The Dryer Sheets! The WHOLE DAMB POST! is hysterical!

Alas ( but probably on purpose) I’ve only tried the Musk… the rest of the line reads like the shower gels I used to get at the little grocery store on Lido that smell of absolutely the same damb thing ( cheap soap) no matter the note they swear it’s replicating

I’m with everyone. This is another fun read. When I stopped laughing at dryer sheets, I thought the Wise men weren’t so wise. Shouldn’t it have been baby wipes?
I enjoyed your car post. I got a chuckle out of the fact that you did a Caddy. I don’t know why, but I have never liked any Cadillacs. I did think that the one you were reviewing had a nice back half though. The Porsche post reminded that I fell in love with the Porsche Macan when it came out. So nice! Can’t forget all the old and vintage Jaguars.

    • Tom says:

I do like Cadillacs. They just have that touch of vulgarity that my buttoned-up preppie soul lives for.

Now if I won an obscene Looto prize I would likely not choose a Celestiq in purple with pink ostrich upholstery, but you never know.

Dove grey with a navy leather and brocade interior and myrtle wood veneers though..

  • March says:

Demyrrh, the wise men with dryer sheets, thanks for the morning laugh! I have NOT tried these but I love these cheap and cheerful scent posts, some hidden gems out there!

  • cinnamon says:

Demyrrh and demure. My brain went woo-hoo and how does his brain come up with these? Too too good. As to seeking them out, nah. But thank you for a huge AM amusement on a beautiful sunny day.

    • Tom says:

My brain is a weird place..

Glad you’re having a sunny day! We are getting our May Grey and June Gloom a little early this year.

  • Dina C. says:

That was a total crack up! Demyrrh, demure. Loved it. And the wise men carrying dryer sheets. Yes, Mary could have used some. Ha! I haven’t tried this brand myself. Sounds pretty nice especially for that price.

    • Tom says:

I thought if the Wise Men were that wise they’d have set ap a diaper service and brought the keys to a Motel 6, but that would be blasphemy.

They are indeed men, wise or not. Wise Women would have invented Pampers.

  • Portia says:

    You are HILARIOUS! DEMYRRH! Genius.
I did try some of these because Surrender To Chance has/had a bunch and I liked the house name.
Perfectly wearable and non confrontational is my only memory of them.
    Portia xx

  • Pam says:

Tom, thanks so much for giving me a laugh at the end of the day. All I can see is the Wise Man with the dryer sheets!
