Twilly dHermes

Hey Hey Posse Peeps. I’m a complete sucker for a Travel Size. There, I’ve said it, and it is a truth. Back in May Cinnamon was talking about Twilly dHermes and it reminded me how much I like it, it’s bottle with the crazy little hat and the scarf. They used to do a super gorgeous boxed 15ml spray miniature. I bought a bunch and gave them out as gifts but forgot to keep one for myself. It was a big hit gift and cost next to nothing. Then when I went back to buy more, GONE! Now they still have a smaller one, not spritz and no scarf. GRRRR!

Anyway, while trawling FragranceNet (not affiliated, just trawl there a LOT) a while ago they had the 15ml tall, slim Hermés Travel Size in! Woo Hoo! Into the cart with it, and a 15ml Un Jardin Sur La Lagune. They also have spray vials for a couple of dollars. FragNet should be paying me a stipend I mention them so often.

Twilly dHermes 2017

Twilly dHermes Hermès

Hermés gives these featured accords:
Ginger, Tuberose, Sandalwood

Twilly dHermes opens with a beautiful, cool but sizzling ginger. It’s sweet but not confectionary. Green but not grassy. Zesty and fun. I can see that it’s aimed at youth but it’s also sophisticated enough that all ages, and sexes can wear it. Not a huge fragrance but it does have a very pleasing amount of diffusion and heft, especially for the first 30-40 minutes.

Not long into the ride and I’m smelling some white florals taking the lead and what feels like elemi resin. The sandalwood slowly surfaces adding a creamy, vanilla-like woodsiness. In the heart we do hit a section that smells/tastes sweet like strawberries and cream lollies. This very interesting side sniff surfaces and submerges a few times before we head to a softly sweet, breathy and creamy dry down. Very late in the game I also get a smoky undercurrent, such as nice surprise. This happily pumps out for a few hours and I completely missed the moment where I stopped being able to smell Twilly dHermes.

Twilly dHermes Hermès

Way too good to leave to the youth. Also, don’t spritz Twilly dHermes in a mall situation. It’s too delicate to compete with all the scratchy woods and you’ll be disappointed. You need to have some space and air around you to really enjoy what Twilly dHermes has to say.

Will you feel you’re wearing a groundbreaking, mega niche revelation? No. Will you smell fabulous? Yes. Low key lovely. The huffs you’ll be getting through the day will make you smile, anyone who gets close enough to smell you will do same. Twilly dHermes is something I could easily imagine becoming a go-to, easy breezy spritz.

So pretty! (Hi Portia, I just rediscovered this blog after many years away from perfume, and how delightful to find it as robust as ever, with you still writing!) I’m a sucker for a perfume that comes with its own version of playing dress-up (La Vie est Belle’s scarf is so pretty too), but this perfume didn’t really stand out to me back when I tested it. I did recently get my hands on a sample of one of the flankers–Tutti Twilly–and THAT one is a youth bomb of lychee and musk. It’s fun, but I could see it wearing out its welcome.

YAY! Welcome home quixoticcynic, nice to have you back on board.
HA! Yes, a dressed up bottle is always a win.
Tutti Twilly didn’t last long enough at any volume on me to ever wear out its welcome. It’s just a bit something for me though. I can’t remember exactly what it was.

    I haven’t yet and I need to.

I have a wee mini of Twilly (7.5 ml, no pretty tie). It’s a nice transparent spice scent that’s never too heavy or oppressive, even for me. This is a great time of year to wear it. Thanks for the reminder Portia!

  • Musette says:

I love Twilly, it’s such a ‘pretty’ fragrance! It’s like Pamp Rose in that it’s both elegant AND easy-breezy

  • Tara+Mc says:

Hermes is just so good at easy reach frags that are elegant and unique

  • March says:

I love Twilly! I did a review awhile back … it’s a great “office scent” but also just very very pretty on its own. I went and looked and there’s a ginger version and a pepper version, both of which I want to try, maybe I’ll order samples.

  • cinnamon says:

I quite liked this and think whoever came with the branding is a genius. I expect I’ll end up with a bottle at some point.

    • Portia says:

Agreed Cinnamon, the whole packaging calls to me. I may also end up with a bottle just for cute value but I’ll use up my travel first… hopefully.

I have a small bottle of Twilly. Couldn’t resist, cute, and I also can’t resist Ginger. It’s a like, not a love, but I do enjoy it from time to time.

I remember trying it in store just before lockdown. From memory it was just as you described & I enjoyed it immensely. Lockdown kicked it into the long grass & I forgot about it.
The rush of flankers that followed made it less attractive to me.
I think I need to give all the range a sniff next time I’m near a stockist.
I really like those 15ml tall travel sizes, so elegant!

  • Maya says:

I tried it in the spring and just dug up my sample to try it again. I should like it but it doesn’t play well with my skin. It’s one of those perfumes that’s not good on me but not bad either. I agree on the bottle. It’s one of the reasons I tried it.
