Derring-Do (Tom)

Derring-Do by Ineke

Sometimes you just want to smell nice.  On a warm day when you’re running around you might even want something fresh and light.  Rifling through the sample ‘ho pile I came across this little number by San Francisco-based perfumer Ineke.  It has bright citrus and something called “rain notes” (which I actually enjoyed) before becoming a very nice fougère with a lovely woody skin-musk drydown.  It’s listed as a man’s scent but I see no reason at all that you ladies shouldn’t indulge.  If I was, say, March I’d consider keeping this next to the 4711 in the icebox.  Unlike the classic cologne, this has lasting power.  At $88 for 75ML it’s also a relative bargain.
Available at her website or at Nordstrom.  Don’t know where my sample came from.  Space maybe.

Space is where sample vials go to replicate. My armoire has a little transporter room in the back right-hand corner and I often see little samples and decants, gathered on the transporter pad, holding hands and giggling, as they prepare to beam themselves up for a night of naughtiness and replication, bless their hearts. 😉

    xo >-)

    • Tom says:

      Ha! Love that!

    • Ann says:

You guys are cracking me up!! What I want to know is why don’t the uber-expensive samples seem to replicate? I’d love my Vacances or Diaghilev vials to double or even triple, but nooooo.
Tom, haven’t tried Derring-Do but will have to do so soon, now that my local Anthropologie carries the full Ineke line. I do like several of the others as well.

      • Musette says:

but I’ll bet you have 40 vials of Beyonce Heat, don’tcha? 😉

        xo >-)

      • Tom says:

I’ll have to check out my Antropologie and see if it’s there. Thanks for the tip!

        • Musette says:

see, it’s stuff like this that just….:-w I thought we had an Anthropologie – and we did! Then it got eaten by a Barnes and Noble, I think. Or an Urban Outfitters. 😕

huh. waitaminit. Chicago is lousy with Anthros. And did you guys know it carries SIPs? and Histoires?

see, that’s what I get for being a cranky old lady with no daughters and a granddaughter who thinks perfume is yucky (I designed a princess bedroom (no licensed characters – just lots of silk and ribbons). Turns out she loves Spiderman. The Universe is laughing).

          I had NO idea! 😮

          xo >-)

          • Ann says:

Too funny! I don’t think my store has SIP or the Histoire line, though (although the scents are spread out all over the place, so who knows?). I saw the Inekes, the Le Labo stepchildren and the Honore des Pres line. Guess I’ll have to do some more looking around next time.

  • Bevfred says:

It’s funny. I get a lot of stuff from space too!

  • Louise says:

Ineke does some lovely fragrances-and Derring-Do is one I might wear myself, would love to smell on a man, most anytime.

  • Ninara Poll says:

If you don’t know where the vial of Derring-Do came from, it sounds like your sample pile has been involved in several naughty pastimes that have resulted in the birthing of new, unknown tubes. Or something like that. /:)

    • Tom says:

I think it has. Of course if it means I get things like these I am not complaining..

      • Ninara Poll says:

The vials in my sample pile are effectively living in a convent/monastary. I’m wondering what might tempt them into, you know, producing offspring ;)

I have After my own Heart, Evening in Paris & Gilded Lily. All 3 are lovely and very wearable.
