I came the Posse after a hiatus from my fragrance hobby, and discovered your Australian Perfume Junkies blog as an added bonus! I am subscribed via email.

I’ll throw in for Kohima; not only is it nestled in the mountainous northeast regions, but it put up 40 years of resistance before being occupied for the first time in its history. Tough and beautiful…that’s my idea of a great perfume!

    Thanks for the opportunity!

  • Kandice says:

Finally made it into the comments section of this post! Yeah! (Major navigation problems here somewhat resolved with Portia and Patty’s help – thanks guys!)

Can I use Lakshadweep? I didn’t see it below. Sounds like a beautiful place being part of a group of “one thousand islands.”

I follow by email. Thanks so much for the draw!

  • sammm says:

I follow via WordPress, and I’ve been trying to get a sample of Bombay Bling without forking over moolah for a few weeks now so that’s my choice.

  • Matt says:

I choose Madhya Pradesh (didn’t find it in the comments!). Its administrative capital is famous for what could be considered the worst industrial tragedy in history, thanks to Union Carbide. We must not forget!

That being said, I follow you by mail; I just registered 🙂

    Matt xx

    • Portia says:

Yay! Matt, welcome. There is still a lot of VERY bad practice going on in India. Did you know that Canada has reopened its Asbestos mines to send to India?
      Portia xx

      • Matt says:

The reopening of the Jeffrey asbestos mine in Asbestos, Quebec, is very controversial. I don’t want to take a stand on the subject, but here’s what’s been happening lately: Quebec’s prime minister (who was defeated on september 4th) had indeed promised 58 million dollars for the reopening of the mine. (Fortunately), the new one cancelled the investment a couple of days after being elected…

There are actually many many hot topics, even in America, on which our governments (provincial and especially federal) tend to favor economy over public health, wether it’s about asbestos or tar sands… ’nuff said!

  • jasouza9 says:

Thank you for the drawing. I pick Lucknow – perhaps it will make me lucky! I follow via email.

  • Amer says:

Hi there! I follow via email
I think Dispur, capital of Assam is not taken yet, right?

  • Nancy H. says:

    Hi Portia,

I have signed up to follow you through WordPress. Has Jodphur been taken yet? It amuses me to think of a capital that brings to mind tight pants.

    • Portia says:

Ha Ha Ha.The lovely Judiciary capital of Rajasthan. Rajasthan is my favourite state of India, I have spent quite a bit of time roaming it.
      Great choice,
      Portia xx

  • solanace says:

Thank’s for the draw, I’m so curious about this line!

I’ll mention the region of Orissa. Had a dear friend whose family was from Balangir, a long time ago.

    Follow you by e’mail.

  • hajusuuri says:

    Hi Portia,

I am following via WordPress and email (I’ll know for sure if I did it right the next time you write a post over there!

I pick Hyderabad. It is a colleague’s hometown and he just described for me some of the palaces that are still standing and that is is also a growing metropolis with large corporations situating operations there.

I recently got a little Bombay Bling love, thanks to a swap buddy (you know who you are) from the recent Posse Swapmania.

    • Portia says:

      Hey Hajusuuri,
Hyderabad is full of history and change. A really wonderful city. You’d love it.
      Portia xx

  • Lauren says:

I choose the capital city Bhubaneswar, because it’s interesting to say it. I’ve never been to India but would love to, someday. I follow both Perfume Posse and APJ via email.

    • Portia says:

Excellent answer. I had never even heard of this capital and had to look it up.
      You are in the draw.
      Portia xx

      • Lauren says:

I loved the Jai Ho video! It reminded me of yummy Gilles Marini and his “Bollywood” dance on Dancing with the Stars.

  • karen says:

I read both Australian Perfume Junkies and Perfume Posse in my Google Reader via RSS. I have an ex-boyfriend from Madras/Chennai. Thanks for the wonderful draw.

      Portia xx

  • blowens32 says:

Ok now I understand. And I really want to try these! I follow as “tomatefarcie”. Also want to mention Pondicherry

      YAY!! Thanks Tomatofarcie.
Great city name that I have yet to visit.
You are in the draw. YAY!!
      Portia xx

  • Lindaloo says:

Totally agree with your description on APJ (which I follow by e-mail) of Bombay Bling as a “makes me want to go out dancing, flirting and cha cha cha-ing” scent. For my entry I will choose Jaipur (aka a fruity floral perfume by Boucheron, which I haven’t smelled but that bottle is so distinctive, especially in the Saphir flanker).

    • Portia says:

One of my favourite cities in India, stay at the Rambagh Palace if you go. We have seen some of Bollywood’s finest there just walking through the courtyards or on the pallazzo. I also wear Jaipur Pour Homme sometimes.
      Portia xx

  • Dante's Bra says:

I follow via email; I also dream of going to Jammu and Kashmir….

  • I follow you on my RSS reader as well as Twitter! So excited. I have tried Bombay Bling but not yet Mohur or Trayee and I so want to. I’ll mention West Bengal as that’s where my Indian ex-boyfriend’s family hailed from. 🙂

    • Portia says:

      Hey BreathesGelatin,
I have an Indian ex too. Not Bengali though. I bet he was handsome,
      Portia xxx

I follow Australian Perfume Junkies via email, and I have chosen Goa. It reminds me of so much yummy Indian food! Thanks for the awesome giveaway! 🙂

    • Portia says:

      Hey Claudia,
I have not yet been to Goa but I have a beautiful carving of Jesus taken from a Catholic Church that was being rebuilt and all the old stuff sold off.
      Portia xx

  • tammy says:

I hope I am understanding the rules correctly! I would like to mention the state of Chhattisgarh, because I sponsor a child there. He lives near Parsapani. I’ve never met him, but whenever I see or hear India mentioned, I immediately wonder how he’s doing. God bless you, Sukhram. The capital is Rapiur, I think.

I follow you on Twitter and via email, because I have never been able to get RSS to work for me!

  • MARK NEWMAN says:

Another great video and giveaway Portia. You are always smashing. I follow Perfume Junkies via email.

  • mridula says:

No one’s taken Delhi yet? Please, Neela create a perfume for Delhi about which city I would say – if there be paradise on earth, it is this, it is this, i is this. Originally of course these lines were composed for Kashmir. But hey. Each to their own and mine is greasy, loud and fragrant with rain and dust.

    following on email.

    • Portia says:

      mRidula,
Delhi, what a crazy city from Carol Bagh to Old Delhi Station, South Ex and the Embassy area, i love it. Great choice,
      Portia xx

  • Joaquim says:

I’m going to say Maharashtra, just because the name makes me remember Mahavishnu Orchestra, the pioneers of jazz-rock fusion, psychedelia and full of virtuosism, McLaughlin, Hellborg, etc…

    Thank you for the giveaway!

    I’m following via email

  • Heather Wood says:

I am mentioning Kerala because of a crab dish I ate a few decades ago that I’ve never forgotten.

    • Portia says:

      Heather Wood,
You need to go to Kerala one day and take an overnight houseboat, then go up to the mountains where the tea plantations are. It’s a beautiful state with beaches and mountains, hot and cold. I loved it there. We were spoiled rotten food wise.

      Portia xx
