Amouage – Great giveaway for a great cause

 giveaway Opus IV
AMOUAGE RAISES US$150,000 FOR PIONEERING RESEARCH STUDY TO BENEFIT PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS IN OMAN
The House of Amouage is pleased to announce that it has raised US$ 150,000 which will be donated to the Ministry of Health in the Sultanate of Oman for the implementation of a ground-breaking HIV/AIDS study amongst injecting drug users. Representing 50 percent of the annual worldwide sales generated by a specially crafted fragrance “Opus IV”, the proceeds will contribute to the efforts of the National AIDS Program in effectively monitoring the HIV epidemic and assessing the need for response to HIV along with other sexually transmitted infections, including hepatitis.
Oman, the birthplace of Amouage, reported the first case of HIV/AIDS in 1984 and since then has been observing a rising trend. In the last ten years alone, approximately 100 new cases have been reported each year, which is a relatively high figure for a low prevalence country.
“Opus IV is our contribution to raising global awareness on this growing epidemic, which today remains one of the world’s most pressing public health matters,” said Christopher Chong, Amouage Creative Director and the man behind the inspiring creation that was designed to instill knowledge and empowerment to spread a positive message.giveaway Opus IV
“The socio-behavioral study that will be implemented by the Ministry of Health is the first of its kind amongst high risk groups, and we are incredibly humbled and grateful for the overwhelming support from our customers and partners whom without, this would never be possible.”
Chong explained that key findings will be published in a scientific journal within six months after completion of the study, which will help shape the prevention and control services available for people living with HIV/AIDS in Oman.
Opus IV is part of Amouage’s Library Collection that is inspired by the knowledge and experience drawn from the art of living. The fragrance opens with luminous notes of Lemon, Mandarin and Grapefruit with a warm and spicy mantle of Coriander Oil. The heart is characterized by the sharp and exotic  Elemi Oil, Cardamon and Cumin that pervades to a sweet blend of Rose Berries, Rose and vibrant Violet Leaves. The inventive fragrance finishes with woody and smoky undertones of Labdanum, Frankincense and Musk.
Normally the Posse doesn’t ‘do’ Press Releases as a post but this is one of those wonderful exceptions.  We are honored to announce this information – HIV/AIDS is still a huge issue in our world, especially amongst injecting drug users, with long-reaching consequences.  Our congratulations and appreciation to the redoutable Christopher Chong for spearheading this fragrance and this event to help raise awareness.  We are so honoured to be able to be a part of this groundbreaking event and applaud the Sultanate of Oman for allowing this initiative to move  forward.
Amouage has also chosen the Posse to host an incredible giveaway to mark this milestone.  A 100ml bottle of Amouage Opus IV will be sent to one lucky commenter.  Leave a comment letting me know  your favorite Amouage fragrance …or, if you’ve never tried an Amouage scent, which one sounds most intriguing to you.   For myself, I confess to having given the Library Collection short shrift. And that was dumb.  There are some exquisite compositions therein.  I’m currently parsing Opus III, to great delight!
Draw will be open until midnight CST, 21December (for all you Cinderellas and Cinderfellas).    The winner will be chosen via random.org.
  • Jessi B says:

They make amazing perfume. Would love to win this!!
    Merry Christmas

  • Frederick says:

I only have small sample of Amouage Epic Man but on my more than a hundred tried fragrances, Epic is at my top 3 best perfume I ever smelled. Amouage, you rock with your great cause! The world will never forget you. Keep it up. Thank you.

  • Aileen says:

Jubilation Woman is so captivating on my skin. It is my husband’s favorite perfume on me. Sadly, my decant is almost empty.
More success in 2013 Amouage fragrance company. Great humanitarian advocacy.

  • Lily says:

I admire Amouage supporting this important cause. The only Amouage I have tried was in fact Opus IV and it was very, very nice so I’ve got my fingers crossed for this draw – thanks! I also want to try Beloved b/c it sounds classic and contemporary at once with a touch of girlie-ness.

  • lisa_67 says:

Lyric Woman and Epic Woman are my favorites (please don’t make me choose between them!), and I also love Memoir Woman. I haven’t tried any of the Library Collection, or the Attars (and quite honestly, I’m afraid to!). I have many, many perfumes that I love, but I don’t think any match Amouage for sheer opulence. And the longevity….these babies last for 24 hours, easily! One bottle will last most people a lifetime.

I second Michael’s admiration for Amouage in supporting HIV/AIDS awareness, particularly as they are based in an area of the world where open discussion of prevention and treatment often is still difficult. Cheers!

  • Michael S says:

I have been lucky enough to sample a few Amouage scents, though there are still many more on my wish list to try! Opus IV has actually been my favorite so far.

What a beautiful guesture by Amouage. Have seen the impact HIV/AIDS can have on the life of an individual, their friends and family, it endears Amouage to me that much more to learn of their efforts to help end the epidemic.

  • Dana says:

I do love Jubilation 25, but it is the only one I have smelled. What a great and noble project.

  • Rosalyn says:

I need to sample these again. I seem to recall I liked their men’s line best. Overall I think they had a good concentration, which I find all too rarely in newish frags, and I liked that I couldn’t pinpoint what they smelt like right away–slightly heady concoctions.

  • Sharon C. says:

I bought Amouage Gold when it first came out, and I always feel so glamorous whenever I wear it–the crystal bottle just adds to the enjoyment. Planning a decant purchase of Lyric Woman in the new year.

  • Johan says:

Last year I was in Oman and I still regret I haven’t bought. But next week we are coming back to Oman, this time I’ll take a flacon home. 🙂

Best Holiday Wishes to you and yours.

  • Daniel Z says:

My favorite Amouage is Tribute…Fit for a King!!! But my favorite non Attar Amouage is definitely Opus IV I like it much more that Opus VI. Amouage has many fine fragrances that remind me of the Middle East.

  • Marie C says:

I have only had the opportunity to try one Amouage scent (Memoir Woman) and it’s a beauty. I would love to experience more from this house. Thanks for the draw!

  • SculptureOfSoul says:

Memoir Man is my favorite. In fact, it is my signature scent. I’ve written loads about it (look up my reviews by the name of SculptureOfSoul on other sites). It strikes a chord deep within me, and is not only conceptually genius and perfectly executed, but it just smells darn good!

  • Catherine Heveron says:

I finally gathered the courage to sample some of the fragrances for women (I say courage because I was afraid I would like them…). So far, Jubilation XXV and Gold are my favorites, but I have not yet tried the Opus collection – and I would love to!

  • EpicDermis says:

I want to try this badly, Thanks for the opportunity.

  • Jan says:

My favourite Amouage is, coincidentally, Opus IV. I love its balance of citrus and spice, and how it all goes through a whirlwind to become the most clean and clear frankincense. Just fantastic!

  • Linn says:

I’m so happy to hear they are focusing on an (unfortunately) always actual cause. The HIV/AIDS problem is nowhere near from over and the stigma connected to it is overwhelming and sad. You are either infected or affected…

On a happier note, my favorite is Memoir. What a beauty.

  • Merlin says:

Is it epic that is in the green bottle? It has cinnamon as a note…

  • Holly F. says:

This is a fantastic cause to promote. I don’t yet have a favorite Amouage, maybe this will be the one. Thanks for the draw!

  • Vincenzo says:

    Interlude. I love it

  • Marco says:

My favourite Amouage is Jubilation XXV, greetings from Italy.

  • Henry says:

    Amouage ubar.

    • TIna says:

I am with Henry on this! The Amouage Ubar was the first one I ever tried. Normally I was always an “off-the-shelf” perfume girl, but Perfume Posse inspired me to change. It’s been amazing to see, and feel, how the change of a good perfume can make a change in how how I feel about a day. If it’s a bad day or I’m tired, a truly good Amouage scent can make all the difference in fighting my way into work. I can’t wait to try the new version of Opus IV!

  • Linda says:

I’d really love to try Amouage Gold! This is such an admirable effort. Thanks for the giveaway! 🙂

  • Ninara Poll says:

So far I’ve only tried Amouage Lyric Woman and loved it. I’m made happier, though, by the news that Amouage is donating to help AIDS research. So many forget that for a good chunk of the world’s population, AIDS is not a chronic disease, but is instead fatal, and contracted in numerous ways. I hope this new research helps develop an affordable treatment.

  • Wonderful cause. Kudos to Christopher Chong and Amouage. I love a number of their scents, particularly older releases. If I had to pick one favorite, it would be Jub 25. Or maybe Dia Woman. Or Epic Woman. Or….

  • B Baird says:

Thank you for posting. Hats off to Amouage for doing this. My favorite Amouage is Epic woman in any form – EDP, body butter, etc…followed closely by Jubilation XXV

  • Kandice says:

What a wonderful contribution by Amouage! I would really like to try the Tribute Attar, but Opus IV sounds beautiful.

    – hajusuuri

  • Ann says:

No draw for me, but what a wonderful project. Thanks!

  • Andrea says:

My favorite is amouage VI !

  • Betty says:

I’ve only had a chance to try 3 amouages – honor woman, honor man, and dia. All 3 are amazing but dia is my favorite. Thanks.

  • Millicent says:

Jubilation 25! As a perfume newbie, I ordered a small decant several years ago and was overwhelmed. Pulled it out again last week, and … OMG, where have you been all my life?!
Love that Amouage is supporting this cause too.

  • spiker says:

I’ve never tried any of the Amouage scents, but it’s time to rectify that – Opus IV sounds lovely.

  • Shiloh says:

This is a great cause, and I really appreciate it when companies do this sort of thing to help out real issues in our world. I have yet to sniff an Amouage, but Opus IV sounds right up my alley! Thank you for the draw.

  • HemlockSillage says:

Wow, kudos to Amouage for supporting such important research. That goes far beyond corporate responsibility, that’s corporate humanitarianism. Well done.

Their fragrances are amazing in general. I love the Homage Attar best, followed closely by Lyric Woman. Ubar and Epic Woman are stunning, too, but I’m living on decants of those. Thanks for hosting such a generous drawing. Be well.

  • alberto says:

I’m in love with Tribute attar!

  • Shaney Evanbs says:

The only I have tried is Amouage Lyric Woman, but I LOVE it! I am so interested in trying more. What a wonderful organization to be participating in an event as this. Thank you for this giveaway!

  • Christine W says:

I wouldn’t say no to anything by Amouage! One day I’d love to try some of their attars, such as Tribute or Homage.

  • Samantha says:

I think this is amazing…I love to see IV drug users treated with care and worthy of help instead of like throwaway members of society because of their dependency. They are parents, brothers, sisters..best friends. Hooray for Amouage.

  • dibi says:

I love Amouage, how can one not love it? It is a house where every wo/man can find their reflection, their mood and their story. I also love the concept of ‘couples’ in fragrances: it is something no longer done these days when everything have become unisex, seasonal, and flankered into oblivion. How wonderfully decadent: one for a man, the other for a woman. But then one can always borrow and wear the ‘other’ scent. There are many wonderful fragrance houses out there but Amouage is not only wonderful or high standard, Amouage is metaphysical..
Here is an excerpt from an amazing poem by Andrew Marvell titled ‘The Definition of Love’ that really speaks of Amouage to me:

    ………….
    Unless the giddy Heaven fall,
    And Earth some new convulsion tear;
And, us to join, the World should all
    Be cramped into a planisphere.

As lines so Loves oblique may well
    Themselves in every angle greet:
    But ours so truly parallel,
    Though infinite can never meet.

Therefore the Love which us doth bind,
    But Fate so enviously debars,
Is the conjunction of the Mind,
    And opposition of the Stars.

My favourite fragrances from Amouage are Jubilation 25 (holy grail), Opus VI and Memoir.

  • Laurene Lovingood says:

I’ve only tried Ubar; beautiful scent. Love that Amouage is funding AIDS research. It’s a very generous draw.

  • Isayah says:

I have not tried Amouage perfumes yet, but I am in love with their names! Lyric, Memoir, Jubitation, elegant and evocative!

  • Farouche says:

Lyric Woman is my favorite. Thanks for hosting this generous draw!!

  • Abyss says:

Amouage is one of my favourite houses, I own 3 – Dia, Jubilation 25 and Lyric and would happily own Memoir too! And Tribute attar and Beloved….ahem…

  • Congrats to Amouage on their fundraising work for a great cause, and for such a generous giveaway! I’ve only tried Jubilation 25, which is gorgeous. I have a sample of Musk Abyadh too, but I’m awash in samples from purchases, swaps, etc. and haven’t gotten to that one just yet. There are many others I would like to try…like..um.. all of them.

  • Peter says:

Very admirable on the part of Amouage but why just for drug users … Why not for everyone living with HIV and aids

  • Alityke says:

Congrats to Amouage for speaking out and supporting this extremely important research in Oman. Then a thank you to Amouage and the Posse for hosting this very generous give away.

Ooohhhhhaaaahhhh Ubar! Is my Amouage of choice with Lyric Woman coming a very close second.

  • EchoCharlie says:

My favourite Amouage is Memoir Woman. It is lush and beautiful. It makes me feel serene.

  • Claudia says:

I’ve never tried an Amouage scent, but Amouage Lyric Woman sounds divine. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Mariekel says:

    Well done, Amouage!

I adore Jubilation 25: an assertive chypre, just this side of skank, like a Hitchcock heroine wearing no knickers under her fitted grey suit.

  • Debbie R. says:

I love Interlude and Lyric (Woman). I had one sample of Dia that I really loved; it had a strong taragon note. However, when I received another sample, it didnt……so I don’t know how I feel about that one. I’d love to try all the Amouage fragrances for women!

  • Sujaan says:

What a generous draw! I have only ever tried Honour Woman, which was quite beautiful. I’ve read such positive reviews about many in the line that make me want to try them all.

  • ctat says:

My favorites are Lyric and Memoir….but I also love Homage Attar. So tough to choose! Thanks for the wonderful draw!

  • What a wonderful cause and a great giveaway. My favorite is the Tribute Attar. Divine!

  • SisterSpecies says:

Interlude Man has stolen my heart, and is stealing my money too… lol. I think it’s awesome that a company with as much prestige as Amouage is funding such important research. Thanks for the draw y’all!

  • Matt says:

First time I tried Lyric Woman (Yeah I’m a guy… so WHAT? 😉 ) It smelled… Do I dare say it… kinda cheap, one-dimensional (I know… LOL). I tried some others on that same day, and nothing grabbed my attention.

But when I got to try part of the line later on… I realized that this is perfection! Lyric is now my favorite of the line: it’s gorgeous, rich, complex, very perfumey (which I like). I think it fits my idea of the ideal luxury perfume, something that sings with so many different voices, with such complexity.

Last time I was in Paris, the attars appeared to me as more of that perfume paradise. I’m looking forward to trying them (as much as my bank account is terrified).

    Matt

  • mridula says:

This is great work on the part of Amouage. And, Anita, you are the perfect person to host this giveaway! I haven’t tried all the Amouages, but my favorites so far are Lyric Woman, Jubilation 25, and Epic Woman.

  • RVB says:

My favorites are Memoir Man and Lyric Man.They’re both so gorgeous it’s impossible to choose between them. Thanks for the draw!

  • Joaquim says:

I see that Memoir Man is not very popular here! I love the basil, and the masterfully blended frankinsence of Amouage is, as always, fantastic. Awesome scent!.
    Thanks for this amazing draw.

  • Devon H says:

Wow this is awesome!!! It’s a wonderful thing Amouage is doing. I haven’t tried any of their scents yet, but I am really wanting to try all of th library scents. Really, all of their scents, but when the library scents first debuted, I was super excited about them, still am. Thanks for the draw!

  • Angelique Campbell says:

I’m sorry to say that I’ve not tried Amouage. I truly will now that I know what great work they are supporting. Such research will help every country and oh, so too terribly many people living with HIV/AIDS. Thank you most sincerely, Amouage for your generosity in so many ways.
Absolutely intrigued by the Library Collection; I’m researching more about it … what knowledge is encapsulated in each fragrance? I really must discover the reference points.
In looking through the site and on Surrender to Chance,Amouage Asrar Attar has definitely captured my attention. I’d love to sample it … and think of the wonders that can occur when we send out Vibrations of Beauty.

  • Maureen says:

I’ve never tried an Amouage fragrance. I think I might like Woman. I would love to try this. Thanks.

  • Sandra says:

I love Opus III and VI and Memoir. Oh let’s not forget Jubilation 25 as well. Wonderful house.

  • lissa says:

Amouage is my all-time favorite house! I have Amouage perfumes and feel ~immensely lucky, a great privilege! UBAR is my ultimate, but Opus V and Vl are to die for!!

  • tammyt says:

What a great cause and generous giveaway, thank you!

My favorite Amouage fragrance by far is Jubilation 25; it’s one of my top five favorite perfumes. Of the Library fragrances, I would say III is my favorite. It has the trick of smelling like one thing on my wrist and something quite different int he air around me, which fascinates me!

  • ChristineB says:

I adore Amouage Lyric Woman. It is my favourite, but I must confess that i haven’t tried any of the Library Collection.

  • d3m0lici0n says:

My favorite is Tribute but Epic coming just really close…

  • Marilynn says:

My favorite is Amouage Lyric for Women! This research is truly important. Thank you.

  • Anne says:

Just testdrove Opus VI – and it was Mozartian, symphonic…

  • Mika says:

Haven’t had the plasure to smell Amouage fragrances yet. However I would be strongly intrigued by two of them. First, Gold, created by Guy Robert… I’m curious to see what such a great artist did when he got unlimited budget and whole spectrum of notes he could use. Another one would be Lyric, anything with cinnamon is dangerously tempting for me just by the fact of cinnamon presence. There is geranium there as well which are two notes present in Dioressence as well, which i love and cherish. So whenever I would be able to put my hands and nose onto Amouage fragrances, these to will be the first ones.

  • ggs says:

LOVE Amouage Jubilation XXV. Its my husband’s signature scent (yes, he’s old school that way). I have not found another Amouage that I’ve wanted to wear regularly, but there are some I haven’t tried– like the Opus scents.

  • Damir says:

All the perfumes of Amouage I’ve tried are just amazing. They produce what I like. My favourites are Jubilation XXV and Lyric for man. I haven’t tried Opus IV yet. Their intentions to improve lives
of HIV+ people is something I can truly respect. We all know how sadly stigmatized were those people and there are parts of world where situation is not much better even today. It is still a large problem So, go ahead Amouage!

  • Elena says:

I have samples of Dia and Epic Woman which I haven’t even worn, because I’m pregnant right now and my nose is wacky and dislikes everything. It’s terrible! At least I can experience things through blogs like this one.

  • Twitchly says:

Whoops; I meant to say my favorite is Amouage Gold for women! Not Amouage Wonan. Time for a cup of coffee, I think.

  • Twitchly says:

Good for Amouage, contributing to those who are fighting this awful disease.

I’ve liked the few things I’ve tried so far in this opulent line. My favorite is Amouage Woman, which I wear for dress up events or when I just want to feel surrounded by plushness and luxury. Amouage doesn’t stint on ingredients, and it shows.

Thanks as always for hosting these great giveaways.

  • Martha McPhail says:

I have only read about Amouage, never tried anything from the line. I think that Opus IV sound delicious. At this time of year I am drawn to incensey, smoky fragrances and Opus IV looks like that type of scent. Thanks for the opportunity.

  • fearsmice says:

Kudos to Amouage for supporting the research! It’s too hard to pick a favorite scent, as I really like many of the ones I’ve tried. I haven’t sampled anything in the Library Collection, though, and sniffing vintage Ubar is still one of my goals…

  • LCT says:

I have yet to try any but feel like they’re all I read about so I have a serious lemming for them all. I’ve read that Christopher Chong’s signature scent is Opus III, and from the notes, I believe it would be mine as well. Thanks for the generous draw!

  • My favourite that I’ve tried is Interlude Man but I’m not yet fully through the series yet.

  • Madvito says:

Only tried Opus VI and enjoyed it

  • hongkongmom says:

    Both jubilations, Interlude, Memoir….

  • Amer says:

My favorite so far is Jubilation XXV Man but I think Opus V from the library collection also sounds very promising to me.

  • solanace says:

I love many in this line, but I’ll go with Dia Man, since I have to choose one.

  • Heather F says:

I’m in love with Interlude Man and Opus VI…both discoveries in the last month or so. I’m so excited about both, but so worried for the future of my bank account.

  • Alica says:

    Lyric is my fav, thanks!

  • Dubaiscents says:

Just one??? I guess it would have to be Interlude Man (my first purchase from them as well). I love Opus IV though, it is on my list of FB to buy. How great to see this house give something back to Oman.

  • The Amouage lie is totally new for me, it sounds decadent and wonderful the most intriguing has to be Amouage Gold pour Femme I hear it does aldehydes just right. Thanks

  • Audrey says:

I love, adore, and crave Epic (Woman). I actually live most Amouage but Epic spoke to me from my first sample dab and has never failed to thrill every time I’ve worn it. It’s so rich and has that perfect balance of fresh, dry, spicy, and elegant. Hmm. I think I need to wear it tomorrow…..

  • Jennifer Smith says:

I think the only Amouage that I’ve sampled so far has been the vintage edt of Amouage Gold (Chanel #5 perfected with extra incense!) I’m a little hesitant to sample anything else since it immediately landed itself on the MUST BUY FB list.Ouch.Amouage’s other scents all sound wonderful.

  • Jenny S. says:

Lyric Woman is my favorite, such a lovely rose.

  • Lisa D says:

My very favorite Amouage is the strange and beautiful Interlude Woman.

My favorite Amouage would be opus VI. I feel like royalty when I wear it! I’m also excited that the perfume industry is not turning a blind eye to an epidemic.

  • Heather Wood says:

Tribute intrigues me most, for its use of saffron and jasmine, two scents that seem made to enhance each other. Thanks for the generous support of HIV research.
