  • Jenna O says:

I got red roses from my date last weekend. It was pretty romantic and sweet 🙂

  • Randi Cook says:

I think I have only received one rose at a time over the years. Never received a dozen of roses. Only been other types of flowers.

  • Katie says:

Fun giveaway! I am new to perfume, and being stuck in rural nomanslandia, I have yet to try Jo Malone. But I have been given red roses…the most memorable being when I was 8 months pregnant with my 4th son, and my husband brought me 24 red roses from an upscale florist. We are far from wealthy, but that Valentine’s Day gift brightened my weary outlook and tired body. I love the scent of deep, almost black in the middle, red roses.

  • Kathleen says:

I don’t think I’ve had roses since high school. My boyfriend got a dozen and chocolates for me and I was horrified, because I had completely failed at getting him a gift – I wanted something really specific and couldn’t find it in time for the holiday, so I got him a gift certificate (quel horreur!) and, being 15, I apparently couldn’t just tell him. (Also, just am getting into perfume, just found your blog, and I’m loving it. I check for new one’s every day in feedly!)

  • Elena says:

Thanks for the chance! I’m going to go a little off the suggested topic, but bear with me. After a very close friend’s wedding, I was not feeling particularly well after a long night of drinks and dancing and more drinks, but being the insatiable perfume nut that I am, I couldn’t go scentless. So I dug through my samples, and figured Jo Malone was a safe choice. True story: I haven’t been able to wear any Jo Malone ever since. The thought just reminds me of a rotten hangover and I just. can’t. even. And woot woot for the Australian Open beginning! Two of my favorite weeks of the year!

  • maggiecat says:

My favorite Jo Malone scent is Honeysuckle and Jasmine, which is very nearly my Holy Grail, but I like many of this lines other scents as well – and I love roses!

  • Kira says:

Thanks so much for the giveaway! 😀 My favorite J.M. perfume is Blackberry and Bay, but I love Red Roses too.

  • machula says:

my first encounter with Jo Malone was in Milan and involved Blackberry&Bay and it was love at first sniff. To me, it smells comforting and happy. I’ve heard people raving about their candles, but haven’t tried any so far.

  • Bobbie says:

I gave my sister Osmanthus Blossom for Mother’s Day in 2013. She loves it but is afraid to use it often because it was a Limited Edition and will run out. I keep telling her to enjoy it and we’ll find another osmanthus fragrance but she just wants the Jo Malone. I hope they bring it back.

  • Never tried Jo Malone products, but i love red roses !
I got them at my first date from my boyfriend !

  • reneeg09 says:

Red Roses is my favorite Jo Malone scent, just a whiff of the bath oil or soap-sublime !

  • miA says:

i got red roses from my boyfriend every valentine’s day

  • willa says:

Love! My favourite Jo Malone of the moment is sage and sea salt.

  • Charlotte says:

When I quit my first real job, on the last day my boss gave Me 30 red roses and told me he loved me.
He still gives me roses, for my birthday as many as years.
Were married With 3 kids 🙂

  • mclasb says:

wow, i never get roses. the only time i got a rose was from an anonymous person, or should i say secret admirer who sent me via a child. lol

  • Tiffanie says:

For my 17th birthday, my then-boyfriend gave me a red rose in a vase, then another rose every week for 17 weeks. I still have the vase. Sigh. 🙂

  • valerie sobus says:

I’ve never tried jo malone candles so i don’t have a favorite fragrance — & have never been given a bouquet of roses :p i guess i’ve always prefered hand-picked wild flowers 🙂

  • may says:

I got my first bouquet of flowers last year during Valentine’s and I squealed like a teenager.

  • BlessedTA says:

I got red roses on Valentine’s day

  • flowergirlbee! says:

i was just wondering what their candles would be like.my favourite jo malone is wild bluebell.i would so like to see fields of wild bluebells some day ; )

  • Kandice says:

I haven’t tried any of the Jo Malone fragrances, and the only red roses I’ve received have all been from men I’d rather forget! But I would like to be entered in the draw :-). Thanks!

  • Nemo says:

This is really sad, but I can’t remember the last time I got red roses. I do love the rose bushes that are planted on my way to work, though! Thank you 🙂

  • Amy K says:

Thanks for the giveaway! My favorite Jo Malone is probably French Lime Blossom, but I find most of them pleasant. When I was growing up, my parents had one neglected rose bush growing next to our house. It was nothing special to look at, and only produced a few flowers every year, but those red roses smelled glorious.

  • Nightingale says:

I live in a house where the original owners planted 32 rose bushes over 40 years ago. my yard can be described as survival of the fittest as it doesn’t get much love, but I have beautiful blooming and incredible smelling roses all summer. And the red ones are just fabulous and make incredible bouquets.

  • Jackie b says:

Roses from the florist are so disappointing…they never smell and they just stay closed up. And then they die 🙁
But I am loving Rosewater and Vanilla perfume. Good timing here too, I have just emerged from the shower after rose body scrub ( made by me). Rose day!

  • maneki says:

When I first heard of niche perfumes and that you could buy samples online, I ordered some samples together with my sis. Among other samples, I got Lotus Blossom & Water Lily (Kohdo Wood Day) and my sis got Red Roses. A little later, I acquired a sample of Rose Water & Vanilla, which I used a lot. I really liked them all, but want to try some of their other scents to (especially Wood Sage & Sea Salt) before really feeling like I’ve got a real Jo Malone favourite.
I can’t help but returning to roses all the time, be it in fragrances or in the garden; I grew up with a garden where dad had planted everything from little white and big red climbing roses to pink cabbage roses to rugged rugosa to a single elegant red rose — plus some sheer wild roses on our land. Can OD them and try to avoid them, but sooner or later I’m drawn to them again like a moth to a light. It’s the eternal flower that will follow me through life. As for getting roses, well, my dad died unexpectedly and left the roses, the red ones and the others, to my sis and I. So the last time I got red roses it was through inheritance.

  • Lillian Holloway says:

The first red rose I encountered, as my mom told me, I took from a neighbor’s rose bush and brought it home to her. I was 3 and it was a prize winning rose bush. Fortunately for me the neighbor was not angry, my mom bought her a rose bush as an apology and I was luckily not punished.

  • silvrolive says:

I’m thinking of a single red rose placed in my locker by my first boyfriend in 7th grade. He was a romantic guy, even back then. I thought it was some kind of joke by one of my friends until I read the note. That was the first red rose I ever received, and I still have some of the petals in an old journal.

  • kizzers says:

My husband sent me a stunning bunch of deep red roses and Madonna lillies on the morning of our wedding. The smell was divine, and the roses matched my Bridal bouquet perfectly. My chief bridesmaid (and best friend) picked a few of the roses out of the bunch and added them to my bouquet, so I carried them with me all through our wedding day. I kept one to dry and press and added it to our wedding photo album, so I still have one of those roses almost 17 years on. Sometimes I get red roses on our anniversary, sometimes I get the perfume I’ve been dropping big hints about 🙂

Thanks for the draw Portia x

  • AnnieA says:

The Red Roses bath oil is incredibly lush and relaxing. Also, life is too short to wait for other people to buy you flowers – I bought myself a bunch of red roses right before Christmas.

  • Donna says:

I received a dozen red roses 34years ago sent to my office from a secret admirer. Little did anyone know that I arranged this little gag with the person who sent them. It got everyone talking for sure. He wasn’t my love interest at the time but the heat was definitely brewing. We’ve been married for 33 years now. ????????. My fav Jo Malone is probably Blackberry & Bay. Although right now I’m really digging Rose scents so great timing Portia!! I’m in US. Thanks for opportunity.

  • Claire Ryder says:

I think i got 40 red roses for a hat trick

  • Vanie says:

A couple of my very first buys since getting into fragrance more were Jo Malone! They were quite generous with samples and after a week of testing, I couldn’t decide which one to get between Earl Grey & Cucumber and Wild Jasmine & Mint, so I took a 30 ml of each! There was a promo running at the time so I also got a mini Lime Basil & Mandarine spray, mini Blackberry & Bay body cream (which I loved!) and Bluebell shower gel (nice as a shower gel… It smells like honeydew melon to me).
On my wish list: Blackberry & Bay and the new Wood Sage & Sea Salt as well as maybe English Pear & Freesia for Fall.

  • jane says:

My favorite Jo Malone scent is Fleurs de Foret. Thankfully I have several back up bottles. I will always think of my mother when I see or small baby pink roses. She got them for all occasions and was blanketed with them when she died. My bedroom is now decorated with roses everywhere.

  • When I was still in my 20’s, I was the principal flutist of my city’s “civic” symphony orchestra (a wonderful melange of students, semi-professionals and amateur musicians). I was dating a few different men, “playing the field”, as we used to say. For one concert, I played a big flute solo piece with the orchestra–standing up in front and everything. After the concert, it was a little tricky keeping the men apart because they did not know about each other. One of them, though, brought me a bouquet of luscious, fat and fragrant red roses. He is the one I eventually married!

  • poodle says:

I had planted a lovely pale pink Princess Diana rose in the yard and it bloomed beautifully for a few years. Winters here are pretty nasty sometimes and only the strong plants survive. Hybrid tea roses are usually propagated by grafting one variety of rose onto a hardier rootstock. Well, last year when my rose bloomed it was not a Princess Di rose anymore. It reverted back to whatever rose they used in the grafting and that happened to be a red rose. Very pretty but not what I was expecting.

  • Denise says:

I have a sample of Jo Malone Red Roses perfume and it smells great. Would love to make my house smell good with the candle.

  • Julie L says:

Well, I’ve only tried a couple of her scents and am astounded at her creativity! As far as red roses, I have a small red rose that’s been growing in my back yard since 1999. My grandmother had just passed away and the following week, feeling teary, lonely and missing her, I happened to stop in at the local hardware where a good friend of our’s was a manager…just because, I guess, I didn’t want to go home . He knew what had happened and took the reins by loading up the back seat of my car with plants and goodies. One of them was the red rose bush, in grandma’s honor. I was so touched! My mom drove up that weekend and together we planted it, sweating and huffing the whole time. To this day it blooms, even though the blooms are king of raggedy and have no scent, haha, I always am reminded of his kindness that day, my mom, and my grandmother.

  • solanace says:

This year my husband surprised me with a dozen red roses for my birthday. See, men can learn… 🙂

  • Alexandra says:

For my first wedding anniversary, my then-husband surprised me by sending a dozen red roses to my office on two consecutive days because my birthday was the day after our wedding day. One of my coworkers said to me: “You know, he will never do this again.” I was mad at her for saying that, but she was absolutely correct.

  • Annie says:

I think the only time I got red roses was one year on the day after Valentine’s, when I was still a teenager. My boyfriend and I were in a subway station and someone was selling them half price. He got me one or two and I was furious since he hadn’t bothered to do anything for the previous day. Now if I want them I buy my own.

  • Diana Wiener says:

I love Jo Malone Red Roses. It was my very first Jo Malone fragrance, and last year I got the Valentine’s set so I could get the small layering set that went with my lovely Red Roses. Since that first bottle of Red Roses I’ve acquired several other JM scents, but you never forget your first scent in a line. 🙂

  • Alica says:

I got 40 deep-red roses for my 40th birthday. I remember I couldn´t find a vase for it and had to fill a bucket with water to put them in. It was 14 years ago :-(. Btw I love JM Vintage Gardenia. Thanks for the drawing!
