Fragrant Christmas Wishlist

Hi there Posse Peeps, My Fragrant Christmas Wishlist is not very long this year but there are a couple of Big Ticket items on it. There are also some sets. I love it when the companies bring out Travel Size Sets with sprays. It makes me really happy because, as you know, I LOVE to travel. For all those who don’t celebrate Christmas there are plenty of Gift Giving reasons and seasons, especially if you are gifting to yourself.

We can get it at MECCA in Australia but I saw it in department stores in Japan & South Korea recently.

goldea-bvlgari-fragrantica Fragrant Christmas WishlistFragrantica

Goldea by Bulgari

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Top: Crystal musk, orange blossom, raspberry, bergamot
Heart: Golden musk, ylang-ylang, jasmine
Base: Musk, amber, patchouli, Egyptian papyrus

If you love a BWF then this is the loveliest 21st century incarnation of the style I can think of on the department store floor. Simple, creamy, comfortable and the bottle of gorgeous. Even my very picky mate Michael was impressed with how lovely it is while we were out shopping one day. That sent it up near the top of my Fragrant Christmas Wishlist.

CHANEL No 18 EdP

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Top: Ambrette, Floral notes, Fruits, Woods, Iris

The new EdP version of CHANEL No 18 has left me intrigued and panting after my own bottle. Now No 18 has lost quite a bit of its airy sparkly. The new ploddier, pepperish scent makes me smile even in memory. It is my most greedily anticipated thing on the Fragrant Christmas Wishlist. Obviously my fingers are crossed for the 200ml bottle but I’ll be most content with a 75ml and Bath Gel (Hint. Hint)

guerlain-golden-bee-bottle-guerlainGuerlain

Guerlain Gold Bee Bottle

Clearly I’m not getting this for Christmas. It is on the list though. Hopefully one day I’ll have in pride of place among my collection one of the unbelievably gorgeous Golden Bee Bottles. Did you know they are hand painted still in 2016? Now that feels luxe to me.

bas-de-soie-serge-lutens-fragranticaFragrantica

Bas de Soie by Serge Lutens

Fragrantica Gives these featured accords:
Iris, hyacinth, galbanum, spicy notes, musk

Yes, I know it’s not new but this year I bought a decant and I’m bloody loving its fresh cool spring feel. Talk about happiness in a bottle. The swirl of green galbanum through and around the flowers is refreshing and rich and as always Serge Lutens adds unexpected spices to lift and sizzle. So gorgeous and now on the Fragrant Christmas Wishlist.

So what’s on your Fragrant Christmas Wishlist?

I can’t really afford to splurge, but I desperately want a bottle of Guerlain’s Cuir Beluga, which seems to be discontinued and harder to find, and some pre-Estee Lauder Carnal Flower because I’m convinced they’re going to mess it up. I wouldn’t mind getting some Hiram Green Dilettante, but it’s actually pretty reasonable.

That golden bee bottle is stunning!

    • Portia says:

      Hey HeidiC,
Cuir Beluga is still showing up on all the Guerlain sites. I think it’s still available.
      Yes, the Bee Bottle……… hmmmmmmmmm

  • Neva says:

Great list Portia and a good reminder to look for travel sets. Recently I bought a 3 x 7,5 ml set from Atelier Cologne and I love it! As usual, I will buy a fragrant gift for myself this Christmas but I’m still deciding between the Zoologist travel set and Malle’s Noir Epices…hmmm…

  • ElizabethC says:

My wish list has been amazingly reasonable this year 🙂 A new perfume store is going to be carrying Aroma M so I am getting Geisha Noire – which I’ve lusted after for years :). Tauer’s Amber Flush Body Oil sounded so fantastic that I just ordered it for myself but will pretend that hubby did!

    • Portia says:

      Hi ElizabethC,
Yes, buying stuff for your loved ones to get for you is totally acceptable behaviour. Everyone is happier.
My partner Jin seems to have an incredible knack of buying EXACTLY the right thing for me. It’s uncanny.

I wrote one on my blog around Halloween- can I just share the link, because that thing is ridiculous and very aspirational 😛

Travel sets are the best. Smell all the things! I’ve had my eye on the Amouage and Maison Martin Margiela sampler sets. I’m also wishing for a FB of Guerlain Mon Exclusif. Friends and family know I love perfume and occasionally get me something I end up liking, but the idea of a wish list wouldn’t go over well with some. In any case, I gifted myself some decants from STC to get me through. After buying for everyone else, of course.

  • Musette says:

the Magpie Painter in me just swwwwooooned at that Hermes set. Nothing like a colorwheel to set a girl off! The Bulgari sounds delightful, too. Must investigate!

  • Ann says:

Howdy, dear! My eyes lit up when I saw that you are loving Bas de Soie — it’s wonderful, isn’t it? No actual fragrance wish list for me (DH would have a stroke if I asked for any, ha!). But I’m eyeing a little decant of Sweet Morphine and another spray sample of Charlotte Tilbury ( I’m going through my first one at an alarming rate). Btw, must try that Goldea — thanks!

    • Portia says:

      Heya Anne,
Yes, I find Bas de Soie very nice. Floral but slightly freaky. So wearable.
Jin doesn’t even blink when new stuff drives, it’s just what happens around here. PHEW!

Oh, these Hermès colognes are perfect. Nobody is giving me any perfume either, but I got myself a bottle of Shalimar Cologne on Black Friday. (Be kind to myself and others, right?) If Santa were to pass by, though, I’d love to get a bottle of Guerlain Vétiver and some Tom Ford Shagai Lilly.

    • Portia says:

      OMG Solace,
I just rediscovered a decant of Shanghai Lily that’s been mouldering here. It’s good, isn’t it? Naughty lily. I like the Cartier Baiser Vole’s cool aloofness more for casual wear though were someone to offer me a bottle of the TF I would swoon with delight.

      • solanace says:

Baiser Volée is too cold for me. I keep trying it at the perfume shop, though, because I think it’s me, you know? SL, on the other hand, feels perfect. Yeah, naughty!! I practically drank my decant. Good to hear you still have some. Have fun with it!

  • Eldarwen22 says:

Nobody buys me perfume for Christmas but I sure can hope. My list is:

    1. A bottle or two of Guerlain’s SDV. I have a small decant of the current version and the pre 2007 version and I love the current version better. I like the really pronounced booze note in it.
    2. A bottle of Guerlain’s Tonka Imperial. Yeah, it’s similar to SDV but I can smell the difference and I love it.
    3. Amouage Epic and Jubilation 25 bath stuff.

That’s all I have for right now.

  • I still can’t believe you were in Tokyo and we didn’t meet…..
