Amber Labdanum Bath Oil: Olympic Orchids GIVEAWAY

Hey Posse, It’s winter where you are and I know you’re all looking for something to keep you warm & cosy. I think I have the perfect thing, Amber Labdanum Bath Oil. Ellen Covey, who is one of the USAs most loved Independent Perfumers, created this magnificent beauty. The photo is of my 3rd bottle, bought retail and loved so much I wrote to Ellen and asked her to make it available again on her website so I could write about it and tell you. Amber Labdanum Bath Oil will change the way you bathe.

Amber Labdanum Bath Oil by Olympic Orchids

Amber Labdanum bath-oil-olympic-orchids

I have no note lists, just what’s written on the bottle. So amber is “sweet, resinous, cozy and warm, often rather powdery note recreated from a mix of balsams. Usually labdanum, benzoin, vanilla, styrax and fir or a combination of some of these. The default oriental note. from FragranticaMust be extra labdanum in this particular mix. The oil is a blend of coconut and argan oils, with no artificial coloring or preservatives.

If you want the perfect base scent for all your vanilla and oriental fragrances then this is the bath oil for you. Further, you will have soft, glowing and fabulously scented skin.

How do I feel when I bathe in Amber Labdanum Bath Oil? I feel plush and luxe. Even using it here in Sydney’s high summer in a cold bath is amazing. You wouldn’t think so but the scent seems to cut through the heat rather than amplify it like most ambers do.

I’ve just had word from Ellen Covey that they will be adding some more Bath Oils to the range soon. Woo Hoo!

Olympic Orchids has two sizes $18/60ml and $30/120ml

  • Katherine says:

My favorite is DSH perfumes Tunisian Bath gel. It smells amazing. I also love Chanel no 5 bath oil.

  • civet says:

Cerave SA body cream. Unscented and the only thing that keeps my skin moisturized in the Wyoming winter.

  • Anne C says:

Ooh, would love to try that bath oil.

My favorite (for years) bath product is the A Bonne Spa Milk Salt. Tried a lot of body scrubs but I always go back to this.

  • Paige W says:

Mmm, nothing like a bath to melt away the slings and arrows of a dismal winter! My current fave is Lush’s Ultraviolet bubble bar, because I am helpless in the face of anything redolent of violets! I’m also a fan of Mysore Sandal Soap – sandalwood is my ultimate calming scent. This amber-labdanum oil sounds like the last word in luxury bathing! 😉

  • CbSutcliffe says:

Based on recommendations here I tried Rose Jam last year and…I’m happy to leave bottles for you all this year. For some reason it just didn’t do it for me as a rose lover. But I’m excited to see the other recommendations because you never know.

Some current favorites of mine for lathering are a Nuxe shower gel (haven’t tried the oil yet) and a Carolina Herrera foam that I bought at TJMaxx years ago. Super luxurious lather and smell.

For body oil, in the good smelling category, I’ve discovered the Jo Malone bath oils are great after the bath. Even a dab substitutes well and is less expensive than the fragrance. I also went through a bottle of Nars Monoi I loved.

Someone already mentioned the La Occitane almond oil shower gel which is a combination that “gets it done”

  • Laurel says:

I would love to try this bath oil! My favorite bath products are a soap I make scented with rose and rosewood, Nip Fab’s Yoga Blend shower gel (which I use as bubble bath), and Epsom salts scented with essential oils such as frankincense & myrrh.

  • Tena says:

An Amber bath oil – sounds amazing.
I have a a lot of bath products as a nice soak is the best way to unwind after a long day – at least until the galgo puppy spills your wine and tries to eat your face mask.
My current favourites are Rose Jam, Chanel no 5 foaming bath and my jealously hoarded Carnal Flower foaming bath + body butter

Thank you so much for the draw – please kiss the hounds for me

  • Joanna Caccavo says:

Favorite bath product…probably the old Lush Snowcake soap, though I think it’s been renamed. It smells like marzipan!

  • Fazal says:

I used to use Perry Ellis Reserve for men shower gel years ago. I still remember the aroma and the feel of the gel on the skin. Loved it.

  • Clarochka says:

My favorite bath product is Rose Jam. I am drooling over this bath oil already

  • Gigi says:

How lovely! I have a few faves, I’m on the Rose Jam bandwagon and also love L’Occitane’s Almond Shower Oil. It has been a long long time since I’ve had it but used to adore Chanel 19 powder.

  • Ann says:

Mmmm … Portia — this sounds dee-lish! I haven’t used scented bath oils/gels for a while now, but did love Lush’s Rose Jam and Pacifica’s Tibetan Temple, which a sweeet Posse pal sent me a while back. Maybe I’ll have to try this one, for sure, especially this winter. Thanks!

  • Kelly L Cole says:

Current bath favorites: L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil is just as lovely used in the bath, where I get to enjoy it a bit longer than the shower. Lush bath bombs, just for the fizzy fun of it. And a shout out to Alba Midnight Tuberose bath and show gel, a relatively cheap jug of tropical white prettiness.

Ones I’ve been dying to try: 10,000 Waves Hinoki Bath Oil and Olympics Orchids Amber! Thanks for the generous give-away. So nice!

  • Michelle H says:

This sounds heavenly. I love Lush Twilight lately, so comforting. Thank you!

  • William De Shazo says:

My favorite bath product I think would be the nexxus conditioner we recently tried my hair has never felt so wonderful before lol. I’m not really that big on bath products myself but entering this for my wife who loves adding all the oils and things to her baths. Her birthdays is just around the corner along with Valentines day so thanks for the chance at this awesome looking give away.

  • Jeanne says:

I have to “grease” myself down with neutrogenia unscented oil afterwards. It is so dry and cold here during winter. This sounds wonderful.

    • Musette says:

I live in that stuff, too, Jeanne, though I admit to buying the generic Walmart & Walgreens versions – same persack formula, about 50% less pricey.

  • Olivia says:

Thanks for the giveaway! I have two favorite bath products: Lush bath bombs and Dove body wash. I just tried the argan dry oil body wash and it has a sweet amber smell. The Lush bombs can color your bathwater as well as deposit lovely little flowers and such, but it all washes away and doesn’t stain the tub.

  • Tara C says:

I love Lush shower gels, especially Ymmy Mummy and Rose Jam.

  • Heather S says:

I’m obsessed with Herbivore Botanicals – All Natural Coconut Milk Bath Soak

  • Bastet says:

Like many folks in the comments today I love Lush rose jam (also flying fox which I don’t think you can get anymore). Also love Tauer’s amber flush body oil, I wonder how this one compares?

  • Christine says:

OH this sounds lovely! Even though we’re in the middle of winter I’ve been looking for more warm weather wears. Hope springs eternal. The other one I was planning on buying is Aftelier’s Ancient Resins body oil. Thank you!

  • This sounds amazing! I love Lush bath products but honestly my favorite product, not from Lush, was a package of beautiful pink and green rose flowers and leaves made of soap that dissolve in the bath and I can’t remember who made them! The roses were beautiful, smelled like heavenly rose and were also an emollient for the skin.

  • Musette says:

DNEM but omgosh – your love for this is calling me – and I don’t even like amber all that much! lol! But since I’m on here – my favorite bath oil (for after bath – I don’t take baths in this manky tub but come reno…) anyhoo, there are TWO types of bath oils – the one that smells Pretttty (No5 bath oil) and the one that keeps me from picking up an axe (Ten Thousand Waves Hinoki Oil))

Also, gotta say it again – I LOVE how you live, sweetie!

  • Ellen M says:

I really don’t have a special bath product. This sounds amazing. I love the combination of notes in it. Is there a scent in the future?

  • rosarita313 says:

What a fabulous giveaway, thanks so much! Labdanum, mmmmm. My favorite bath product could not be more pedestrian and low brow – Olay In Shower lotion. I’ve tried others but the Olay is my favorite, it leaves my skin so plush and soft and is a great first layer for the lotions and potions I lavish all over in the dryness of winter.

  • Miriam says:

This sounds amazing! I love bath oils and bath products generally. Going by frequency Epsom salts are my favorite bath products since they really help with muscle spasms and general achiness.

There are so many others though including an ormonde Jayne woman bath and shower cream that I just scored on eBay. Korres nutmeg shower gel, perlier vanilla bubble bath, and Zents oils are my oldies but goodies. And perfume oil samples that i like but don’t live enough to wear ( or love enough to get the FB) like DSH Hippie Chic. Please count me in this oil sounds so awesome!

  • Chelembound says:

This sounds wonderful! Not niche at all but currently I’m in love with applying Nivea lotion that has been warmed by my counter space heater. I live in upstate NY and the bathroom never quite gets warm (tile and high ceilings, I know 1st world problems!) The warmth is just fantastic and I love the almond scent of the Nivea.

  • Connie says:

I’m sorry, but this sounds exquisite. Adding it to my wish list, even if my birthday is away away in July. I don’t usually indulge in exciting or scented bath products, but my mom got me a small Rose Jam body wash from LUSH for my Christmas stocking and I’m in love.

  • Luna Green says:

My all time favorite bath product is the sadly-discontinued Bathos bubble bar from Lush. Such Violet!

  • Thank you for the lovely giveaway!

My current favorites are the Sakura products from Rituals, and the Fresh Sake Bath

    Happy New Year!

  • Koyel says:

This sounds wonderful. I’d love to try it! My favorite bath products: Either dumping some Rose Jam into the bath water, or these lovely jasmine-ginger bath bombs I received as a gift (I can’t remember the brand).

  • Neva says:

For a hot bath I usually take some Lush bath oils like Floating Island or You’ve been Mangoed. I need more hydration than before so the normal bath bombs are not enough. For showering I like Molton Brown products and I have the Japanese Rose body wash.
I’d love to try the Amber Labdanum Oil so thanks for the chance.

  • MaureenC says:

Ortigia Ambra Nera Bath Oil, Shikai Gardenia Shower Gel, Korres Vetiver and Korres Jasmine Sower Gels, L’Occitane Lemon Verbena Bath Gel. I could go on for some time as I really enjoy them! Great to see some other suggestions here

  • Patchgirl says:

I love amber and this sounds wonderful. I’ve been going back and forth from Tabu shower gel to Kiehl’s Musk Shower gel. Love the idea of using it as a base for oriental fragrances.

  • Shiva-Rose says:

It’s so embarrassing. My favorite bath product…is…still…Estee Lauder Youth Dew bath oil. I don’t like the ‘fume so much, but love the bath product. I follow with a vanilla oil on my skin, usually very light that works with many scents. This amber sounds awesome, I follow by email! Checking out these oils next.

  • Teresa says:

My favorite bath product is Bath & Body Works ‘Moonlight Path’ shower gel…it smells like my husbands old school Jovan Musk for Men cologne and I feel wrapped in a big hug when I use it in a hot shower.

  • Nemo says:

Oooh how did I now know this existed yet? My favorite bath product is Lush Rose Jam, but I also love the smell of Pacifica Persian Rose soap 🙂 Thank you for the giveaway!

  • Alica says:

This sound astonishing! I love my Thierry Mugler Angel soap flakes in bathtub, contrary to any version of TM Angel as a perfume. No go for me. Chanel No. 5 released bath oil maybe 10 years ago and it was also wonderful. Thanks for the opportunity!

  • Sounds Amazing!! My favorite bath schmoo is currently the Malin & Goetz Ylang cleansing gel….love it!

  • Troy says:

At the moment I’ve reverted back to bar soap. Fringe-Lemon Oakmoss scented soap that I found at Tuesday Morning for a bargain.

  • RoseMacaroon says:

I sooooo wanna get my hands on some of this… I’m ultra minimal with my products atm, the one standout that I didn’t brew myself would have to be Pacifia’s Tibet an Mountain Temple soap. Fantastic in all weather! Thanks for the giveaway! So exciting!

  • Fleurycat says:

The Amber-Labdanum sounds wonderful, especially as I
l-o-v-e orientals. Choosing a favorite bath product is truly challenging since my fragrant shower and bathing experiences define my mornings, but I often use several combined. My all time favorite, more so in that it has been discontinued, is Lush Flying Fox shower gel. (I also love Korres Fig Shower Gel, Weleda Sea Buckthorn Creamy Body Wash, Lush’s: Rose Jam, Grass, Lord of Misrule, and The Olive Branch Shower Gels) This doesn’t include lotions, which are even more essential to the complete bathing experience.

I can relate to the cold bath. In the summer I love cool showers and an entirely different range of scents.

    • Paddy says:

I love the Keihls shower gel followed by the body lotion and finally the musk oil. Thanks for the opportunity to receive a new fragrance!
