Hi there Perfume Posse! A Quiet Morning is a fragrance that Jin and I discovered while shopping in Vienna with Birgit from Olfactoria’s Travels on our first overseas holiday together back in 2013. It was Jin who picked it up and spritzed a card. By the end of our visit to this shop he was enraptured and I quite liked it also. Since then I have fallen more and more deeply in love with this beauty.
We don’t hear enough about Miller et Bertaux on the blogs, or even much in conversation. It’s surprising to me that their happy weirdness isn’t embraced more. They seem to work unassumingly away, creating these scent pictures and only a minuscule section of the community ever gets to enjoy them.
A Quiet Morning by Miller et Bertaux 2008

Saffron and woods, turmeric cooking and the dusty dry days of Rajasthan small town life. Just a couple of hours outside Delhi by train, bus or car you’re into rural Indian desert with piped water or wells and families on small holdings, sometimes as little as an with of an acre, subsistence living and bartering their little excess. Some are lucky enough to have enough to bring to daily markets.
If you’re travelling through you may stop at a dhabha for tea. As a westerner they will make your tea from bottled water. It will come sweet and milky, spiced if you ask for Chai Masala (Chai is Tea, Masala is Spice). There will be a choice of seating. Under the makeshift corrugated roof or in the garden, sitting on plastic chairs. The smell is part diesel, dust, tea, smoke, animals and humanity.
What I most remember about India is the friendliness. Everyone had a smile for me, though many had little else. I can’t wait to go back in September. Until then I will wear A Quiet Morning and dream.

I must admit I have never sniffed anything from Miller et Bertaux and have only occasionally heard about this line. I wonder if they’re available anywhere in Paris as I’m hoping to be there this October.
I do love my Serge Lutens Santal Blanc, Santal Majuscule and Santal Mysore.
I’d love to see India some day, but I’m not a very good traveler coming down with whatever ailment there is to be had traveling. Dear Husband went on a business trip and come home with a lovely body rash from head to toe. It would probably be worse for me.
I try to save my interesting/unusual scents for when I’m home alone and can enjoy the journey without worrying about bothering someone else. I haven’t had much time to do that lately but I’m hoping to get a chance during the holiday season and to find something that really makes me swoon.
I like this one, too, and I find that I do like to wear it when I know I will be going somewhere earlier in the morning than when I usually go anywhere.

I would love to smell this one and any others from Miller et Bertaux. I have a full bottle of Green, Green, Green and … Green and love it. No surprise, it’s a green, herbaceous, leafy thing with some coriander, vetiver and cedar. It was one of my very first purchases when I started my perfume hobby.

Serge Lutens Santal de Mysore. Every time I order samples I get one.
Another I fell in love with is Timothy Han She came to Stay which was gifted to me in a draw on this forum. This one reminds me of Aveda, Shampure-ish.
They are both like aroma therapy for me. Sniff then bliss.
