Sunny Side Up by Romano Ricci for Juliette Has A Gun 2017

Hi there Posse! Sunny Side Up is a great name for a fragrance. Bursting with the shiny yellow yolked, greet the day in a healthy way, positive and fun Sunday morning inspiration of a cooked breakfast. Considering how few of us indulge in such a thing more than once a week, if we’re lucky, then it also combines nostalgia of a simpler, slower time when breakfast was more important than 30 minutes more sleep.

I seem to be on a bit of a JHaG kick, a couple of weeks ago I wrote on Perfume Posse about Moon Dance from the luxury line. This sample came from my mates at First In Fragrance.

Sunny Side Up Juliette Has A Gun FragranticaFragrantica

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Top: Amyris, jasmine, vanilla absolute
Heart: Sandalwood, orris root, jasmine, coconut milk
Base: Ambrette (musk mallow), iso e super

A very slightly herbal vanilla/sandalwood blows straight out of the spritzer. Clean, sun warmed and very quickly joined by coconut. Sunny Side Up is not 100 miles divergent from Jil Sander Sun but it does feel infinitely more luxurious and smooth. Interestingly, the name has pushed my mind towards egg yolk, now that it’s in my head my nose is following suit and smelling the idea a soft fried egg yolk on opening. Genius, fun and WEIRD!

The stars are the sandalwood and coconut, everything else seems to be background noise. It’s also a breath of tropical nights, sweating in the muggy heat, one Pina Colada too many and remnants of suntan oil.

This genre is not new but Romano Ricci makes it feel new. Wearable as a reminder of summer or a fabulous accessory if you’re baking in the heat. Moderate sillage and good longevity. Perfect weekend wafting.

I tried this at Sephoras and quite liked it. I’ll try and get a sample next time as I’m not sure about longevity. I have two samples of JHAG that I’ve yet to try as well. C’mon me. What’s the holdup!!
