SOTD 3.7.2020

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else SOTD choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and Perfume Posse people love to chat. We like to keep it fragrant but there’s always room for life events and adventures too. This is our place to share how we smell, live, love, eat, work, raise kids and pets and get on with the business of living.

Perfume Posse SOTD

SOTD 3.7.2020

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz. Whenever you feel the mood take you, share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at Perfume Posse, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your SOTD comment. Then you can reply to them, and so on.

Go To It Crew.

    I have a confession.
When I heard that Agent Provocateur had gone bust I went straight to FragranceNet and bought two 100ml of three from their range. Maitress, Lace Noir and Blue Silk. Then I went searching high and low for two bottles of their original Agent Provocateur EdP, found two bottles of that. Finally I saw Fatale Intense in my local chemist and snaffled that too.
NOW I have to find somewhere to put the damn things…….

Also, have you noticed Jessica Simpson frags getting harder to find? I might have panic bought some of them too.

    Yes, I know. TRAGIC!

PdN’s Sacre Blue yesterday in the rain, and SSS Jour Ensolielle today in the sun, well it was in the sun for a few hours and now it’ll be in the rain again.

  • Cassieflower says:

    Vintage Arpege.

  • Brigitte says:

Portia, I am going to respond to your question up here LOL
Tone is an oldie but goodie inexpensive cocoa butter soap from years ago. I am getting my smelliest these days by revisiting old soaps that I loved and also discovering new ones. Olay makes a strawberry cream and mint soap which is to die for and cheap as chips.

This morning I actually have myself a spritz of Jeffrey Dames Duality which , according to Kathleen (who gave me my decant ) smells like Dial soap in the best possible way. To my nose it does.

  • Portia Turbo says:

Armani Prive Ambre d’Orient. Beautiful amber, warm and cozy.

  • Cassieflower says:

Coconut body lotion topped with Eau de Missions. A gourmand fest here today.

  • Portia Turbo says:

Today Jin and I went back to the gym. We did a very light return on shoulders, chest and biceps. It feels pretty good.
Wore Santal +++ by Miller et Bertaux all day after my post gym shower. It’s low key, creamy sandalwood has been pumping out insistently. If Samsara was a wall flower, rather than a DIVA! it would smell like this.
Had a fabulous meeting with one of the club bosses today. She has been incredibly supportive and wants best outcomes for both me and the club. We threw around some excellent ideas.
Tonight, I’m going to get some take away Chinese from around the corner and watch some fabulously trashy shoot em up adventure on Netflix. Jin’s working night shift so it’s just me and the dogs.

Went to the office today for a staff meet-up to discuss how we’re going to operate when we reopen. Then we got stuck into a big clear out of old tat that’s been cluttering up the place. So satisfying.

  • Cassieflower says:

Worth Courtesan in Brigitte amounts. I know at least three of us on here love it.

  • SonomaVelvet says:

Well, more rain, rain, rain. and supposed to rain right through the planned camping trip. Again. What to do? What to wear. In Commodity Nectar pre bath and probably something warm and cozy after. To pack and go or not to pack and go????? I’m going to wear something wonderful while I dither… TBA

Tonight I went back to work. First night in drag since the middle of March. It felt fabulous but getting ready was totally alien. It hasn’t been 13 weeks between a drag face for me since 1987. That’s a LONG time.
Wore Aesthete by Le Galion. A beautiful sweet leather with incense smoke and vanilla. It should have more fans because it is perfect.
    Portia xx

    • SonomaVelvet says:

      Hey Portia
Congrats on another ‘new beginning’. I hope it was fun and successful and you get to enjoy plenty more. Aesthete sounds amazing.

      • Portia Turbo says:

        Thanks SV,
It was really fun. The club was thrilled. An extra 42 diners and drinkers. That’s about half our regular crew but plenty of people here are still keeping their distance.
Aesthete IS amazing. I’d say nearly half the bottle is gone.

    • Cassieflower says:

Haha, hope you didn’t mix up your eye-liner with your lipstick! That would look rather fierce.

  • Portia Turbo says:

Ormonde Woman. So pretty and wearable. I bought a 100ml bottle and I’m trying to get some air in the bottle to oxidise it a bit. It’s still a bit clean and hasn’t grown cajones yet.

  • Melanie says:

ELDO Dangerous Complicity for me – do like this one but its just too quiet for me. So pretty upon first spray and for about five minutes.

  • Cassieflower says:

The last of my Lilac Love. And thunk. This is a little beauty. Shame about the price.

  • Brigitte says:

Tone soap and homemade lemon and eucalyptus essential oil body lotion

  • SonomaVelvet says:

Woke up today and knew it was going to be a Carnal Flower day. Usual for me to know upon waking what I want to wear, more likely I focus on getting ready for the day and then amble over to contemplate what I want to put on. Now I need to think what I want to take camping…hmmm

  • Portia says:

Curious by Britney spears. Seems to fit my cleaning the house in winter sunshine mood.
    Portia xx

    • SonomaVelvet says:

Being a bit of a snob I have no idea what that smells like. If you’re wearing it must be good.

      • Portia says:

        Hey SV,
It’s a very pretty fruit/floral aquatic. It’s not a million miles different from Amouage Reflection Woman, a little more fruit and quite a lot less sophisticated. Wears beautifully for a few hours of uncomplicated fresh liveliness.
        Portia xx

  • Brigitte says:

Today post four mile walk decided to douse myself in Cassis en Feuille…. extraordinaryly refreshing. Will leave it in the bedroom for now. Boxed up all my other lovelies and moved them to an even darker place in the basement.

  • SonomaVelvet says:

It’s an Opium day here too, so cold and rainy. Going camping this week and have heard reports of snow in the mountain parks, eeek. Anyway I don’t have any Opium so it’s going to be Chanel CoCo mmmm

  • lee says:

Calandre today, so warm light and lovely. Anyone know if Metal is available anywhere in any form?

  • Portia says:

Habit Rouge L’Eau again today. It’s so easy and smells nice. Feels like a perfect fit every time.

  • AnnieA says:

Nothing at the moment, as we are having an outdoor perfume meetup this afternoon! My neighbourhood has set up a couple of plazas with tables, so we’ll see how that goes.

  • Cassieflower says:

Wet and chilly Saturday when I got up this morning so I said to hell with it, that’s a day for Opium. And lots of it.

  • Portia says:

Inspired by yesterdays post here on Perfume Posse and our beautiful warm winter day (17C/63F and sunshiny) I’m drenched in Guerlain Habit Rouge L’Eau. Such a comfortable Saturday scent.
Had a GF over for tea this morning, going to a birthday tonight. Life is lovely.

  • Kathleen says:

Guerlain Champs Elysees! A long forgotten love so perfect in every way.

  • SonomaVelvet says:

I’m wearing another smear from a sample of Fiori di Capri. Can’t seem to decide about this one. I think I’ve gone through 3 or 4 samples. I like it and even think about ordering a little bottle and then I’ll try it again and it will hit me differently and I think ‘nah’ and then I’ll put it on again like today and think ‘Wow, how lovely’ now I’m back in ‘well maybe just a wee bottle’ land again.

  • filomena813 says:

I’m wearing Guerlain’s Jardins de Bagatelle today. Very flowery and summery on this upper 90’s day.

    • SonomaVelvet says:

I keep meaning to try that one some day. I love flowery.

    • Portia says:

Perfect choice for warm weather Filomena813. Those lovely, understated, creamy white flowers. Spring and summer wear done right.

  • Portia says:

Chergui by Serge Lutens for bed. I’m ready to drift away on it.
    Night all.

  • Musette says:

no heavy hitter here – at least not yet! After a 3 hr tour in the garden (I swear I’d planned to spend ONLY 30 minutes out there, starting at 6:30. Came in when the sun started scalding… at 10:15!!! )…. anyhoo, a shower, some Jean Nate… and a couple of lashings of Fresh Lemon Sugar. It’s going up to 90F today – I predict this will be gone by noon (if it even lasts that long!). Perhaps I will then lash myself with Amouage Tribute attar! That’ll last until Tuesday! xoxoxo

  • MMKinPA says:

Pre-shower perfume (dog woke me up way too early, so a slow start to the day) is Nicolaï Fig-Tea. Later I think Seville a l’Aube – I wore it earlier in the week and could still smell it the next morning. So good!

    • Portia says:

WOW! Second vote for Seville a l’Aube! I love it.
MMKinPA, I have a small Nicolaï Fig-Tea but it rarely gets worn. Thank for the reminder.

  • Maya says:

Lyric Woman. My bottle came in. Whoo hooo.

  • Dina C. says:

I’m wearing L’Artisan Seville a L’Aube, as I continue to read “The Perfume Lover” which I’m greatly enjoying. The scent has many interesting facets which bloom nicely on a hot summer day.

    • March says:

ooooh, I just had a shower, that seems like the perfect thing to put on, my bottle is sitting right here!

    • Portia says:

OOOOH! DinaC. What a fab summer read. SO MUCH information on fragrance creation.
Oh…. and getting some hot & heary action. HE HE HE.

Heat wave happening here in Montreal, Canada so I feel like I’m at the beach every day. SOTD is St Tropez Dispenser Apres-Soleil by smell bent, a tropical blend of jasmine, coconut, and sandalwood. Happily, it is more floral than sweet.

  • cassieflower says:

    Lashings of Miss Dior edt.

  • Bee says:

Feeling nostalgic today so a blast from the 80s past with Creation from Ted Lapidus. Giant floral complete with big hair & shoulder pads. Kind of glorious 🙂

  • matty1649 says:

I felt the need for a “heavy hitter” today, so just one spray of Paloma Picasso.
