SOTD 20.11.2020

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else SOTD choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and Perfume Posse people love to chat. We like to keep it fragrant but there’s always room for life events and adventures too. This is our place to share how we smell, live, love, eat, work, raise kids and pets and get on with the business of living.

Perfume Posse SOTD

SOTD 20.11.2020

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz. Whenever you feel the mood take you, share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at Perfume Posse, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your SOTD comment. Then you can reply to them, and so on.

Go To It Crew.

Maxim’s de Paris, the eighties vintage chypre. It is still as beautiful as it used to be. A smooth floral for all seasons. Dominique Ropion is a genius.

  • Cassieflower says:

Tauer L’Air des Alpes Suisses today. Have ordered his soaps as part of my merry Christmas to me treat.

    • Portia says:

OOOH! Can’t wait to hear what the soaps are like. I bought his first three soap attemp[ts many years ago and they are still here, all wrapped up. I can’t bring myself to use them.

    • Neva says:

I’m curious about this Tauer. He didn’t impress me so far but the Alps’ air sounds very promising.
Bruno Fazzolari also has started making soaps, which I think is a great addition to the perfume range.

  • Neva says:

Today I wanted to spend some money on Diptyque’s Eau Capitale but it was sold out 🙁 Ok, the saleslady gave me two samples instead to comfort me until the FB is back in stock. I’m smelling expensive and chic. It reminds me slightly of Paloma Picasso but sweeter and more rosy. I really love this perfume.

    • Cassieflower says:

Oh boy, Paloma Picasso was something else back in the day. Wonder if the current offering is any good? Must try next time I see it. You did well to score two samples if Diptyque!

      • Neva says:

I haven’t tried Paloma Picasso since then. I’m afraid of the disappointment. Please let me know if it still works, if you try it.

    • Portia says:

      YAY Neva,
You got blood from a stone.
Also, you may have given me a lemming. SHHHH!

  • Melanie says:

Oops – back again! My little suitcase of Criminal Element samples has arrived – squeal!! So cool.
Wearing four at once – Fall, Vigour, Tobacco Jam and Muse. Fall is awesome (cinnamon, birch, vanilla, amber, oakmoss) and Vigour reminds me of Fat Electrician – but juicer. There’s some big Vetiver and Oakmoss in here. Can’t wait to get to the other two Ruben and Sylphide.

  • Melanie says:

4160 Tuesdays Doe in the Snow. I’ve tried quite a few from this house but they just dont still well. However this one does work on me. And I’m glad. It’s a lovely, refreshing scent. Grapefruit, some rose and mossy wood vibes. It’s bright and crisp. Which should be perfect for another hot day here.
I do enjoy this one so much i may have just ordered a back up bottle because LKNU are having a little sale.

    • Neva says:

Interesting…Doe in the Snow does not necessarily remind me of a hot day 😀 I like the notes that you mention very much. Maybe this will be my first 4160 Tuesdays to add to the sampler set…?

  • Cassieflower says:

Terre d’Hermès just for the Vetiver kick.

  • Neva says:

Sometimes when I stay at home long and have too much time on my hands I go through my perfume samples and find something I haven’t tried a long time so I spray it on my skin and hair…and regret it immediately. Amouage Memoir Woman – boy is it heavy and smoky. I couldn’t get it out of my nose for hours, had to wash my hair in the evening.

  • Portia says:

Off to the semi rural area outside Sydney for lunch with buddies who have an Alpaca farm. Wearing CHANEL 1957. It is a perfect fit with our cool grey spring day.

    • Neva says:

You smell fantastic, Portia! It’s probably my favourite Chanel Exclusive. I bet your lunch was a lot of fun.

      • Portia says:

        Thanks Neva,
It was excellent fun. One of their dogs basically claimed me as his own and sniff, climbed, licked and followed me for the afternoon. It was heaven.

  • Melanie says:

Heremetica Pathoulight for me today. This was in my giveaway pile but strangely today its really hitting the spot. It’s a lovely soft, woody scent with a hint of sweet. A waft of patchouli but also some rose. Its really delightful on me today.

  • Maya says:

Mark Buxton Sleeping with Ghosts. I love the name! Lots of quince, mild leather, and peony and vanilla weaving in and out. I think it would be great in warm weather. On me, it’s a bright fragrance.

    • Ariel says:

It’s the perfect season (in the Northern Hemisphere, anyhow) for quince- we need all the brightness we can get!

  • Cassieflower says:

Hermès Rouge Eau Delicate. Mmmmmm an easy wear.

  • Melanie says:

Queen of Hearts by Queen Latifah . Lovely, soft spicy floral little number. Perfect office scent.

  • Portia says:

    DIOR Santal Noire today.

  • Maya says:

Ramon Monegal Flamenco. When I first got the sample, I went – meh, too sweet and put it aside. Today I decided to give it a fair try. It’s a raspberry-rose perfume. The raspberry is strongest on me and stays to the end. There is a background note that is really pretty and tones down the sweetness. Maybe the apple? It gets less sweet but stays very nice. I like it a lot!

  • Cassieflower says:

EL Pleasures Intense. This has a lovely memory association.

  • Neva says:

A sunny day after two weeks of fog and gloomyness…time to pull out something really uplifting – Heeley’s Menthe Fraiche – sweet mint and green tea.

  • Portia says:

    Anyway by JHaG.
Perfect cleaning scent. Jin just told me, from the other room, that I smell like one of the old guys at work. Interesting.

  • NancyC says:

Philosophy Fresh Cream Soft Suede today. No suede to speak of, but this gourmand is easy to love.

  • Portia says:

    Morning all,
Autoportrait by Olfactive Studio today. Cool metallic green and stuff.
    Portia xx

  • Gilly says:

Waiting to pull out Comme des Garçon Ouarzazate but the weather is still too warm. So went the other way and put on Issey Miyake A Scent.

  • Eldarwen22 says:

Woke up in Feminite du Bois this morning now I am in no 22 edt. I have no idea why Chanel decided to tinker with the Les Exclusifs line. After work, I will be starting my pre-holiday cleaning and I hate cleaning.

    • Gilly says:

I plan to do holiday cleaning as well this weekend. Hope yours goes by quickly!

    • Portia says:

      Hey there Eldarwen22,
I think they needed to IFRA them and at the same time hike the prices in line with modern niche.
      Good luck with the cleaning.

Went out for dinner tonight and wore Behind The Curtain Piazza Alla Scala by Trussardi. It’s not overly lavish or clever but I find it smells good on me and have worn it quite a lot lately. Very 21st century niche amber woodsiness. Simple, nice.

  • Darryl Da Silva says:

Terre d’Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver. It doesn’t have much in common with the original, but it’s good on its own merits. A strong like, if not a love. It’s potent stuff, too – one spray lasts me the entire day. Any more and it gets on my nerves.

    • Portia says:

      So interesting Darryl,
I prefer the Vetiver version but both are excellent. I need to grab mine our and wear them through summer.
      Portia xx

  • Cassieflower says:

Shalimar Parfum Initial. Such a shame they discontinued this.

  • March says:

I’m just basic and boring as hell over here in my Ralph Lauren. The day started off cold and is getting warmer and I couldn’t make my mind up.

  • Ann says:

OK, now wearing Chanel 19 edt. I thought the edp was my favorite, but as it is drying down the edt is amazing and very rich & cozy. I think the galbanum and the green juice itself was tricking me into thinking this was a “refreshing” scent, but I am getting so much rose and a cozy muskiness. I love.

  • Dina C. says:

Wearing Ferre parfum today. It’s super smooth, lovely and mellow on my skin. Love it. Perfect for a nippy Friday in November. Have a great weekend Posse peeps!

    • matty1649 says:

      Hi Dina C
Is your Ferre the Gianfranco Ferre from the 80’s?
The one in the clear bottle, white box with gold edging ?

  • matty1649 says:

One spray of Rubikona (sp) From a sample, I like this

  • Ann says:

Right now I’m wearing remnants of Samsara on my coat collar, I’ll see what I feel inspired to wear after reading the comments!

  • alityke says:

Nothing from a bottle yet but generally wearing Eau de Grumpy & dog lick.
Mr Jarvis Cocka-Poo was feeling cold & lonely last night n decided to sleep between us rather than at my feet. He likes his space n had me teetering on the bed edge. I went to the spare room n the mardy little sod invaded my space there too.
I hate my face being licked ?
Now trying to get a little sleep this morning whilst he snores like a hog!

  • Brigitte says:

What happened to last week’s SOTD?? I am wearing Melanie amounts of Must EDT. Not the vintage which is more of a chypre but the reform which is more of an oriental and closer to the vintage parfume. Must and I have an interesting history, or rather two separate stories from my very distant past. Anyway, a good friend sent me this full bottle and now it’s almost halfway done because I have been spraying morning, noon and night. Extraordinarily busy but just wanted to pop in and say hello. XO
