SOTD 18.12.2020

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else SOTD choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and Perfume Posse people love to chat. We like to keep it fragrant but there’s always room for life events and adventures too. This is our place to share how we smell, live, love, eat, work, raise kids and pets and get on with the business of living.

Perfume Posse SOTD

SOTD 18.12.2020

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz. Whenever you feel the mood take you, share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at Perfume Posse, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your SOTD comment. Then you can reply to them, and so on.

Go To It Crew.

Still testing Der Duft samples: today it’s Pride and it may be my favorite from the line – green with a milky touch, and earthy narcissus. It has the old Chanel Cristalle vibe.

  • Ariel says:

Van Cleef & Arpels’ California Reverie. The citrus contrasts nicely with the roast chicken I made for dinner 🙂

    • Neva says:

I love California Reverie. I only wish it was a bit more intense.
Hope you’ve enjoyed your roasted chicken 🙂

      • Ariel says:

Agreed. I aim for scents that are strong without a ton of projection. My husband is not a fan of perfume, but we have a big height difference and I can get away with most anything on my wrists. I want some Roquefort-level intensity!

And I did, thank you! I’ve been cooking for two households, so it went quickly 🙂 May you be feeling extra cozy and loved this week.

    Vintage Shalimar extrait. Ooohhhh myyyyy.

  • Neva says:

Doing some testing of the new perfume house Der Duft the past few days.Today it’s Cinematic – a nice fresh but warming ginger based fragrance. It has civet and moss which makes the rose and ylang-ylang deep and smooth. A big like!

    Anubis, just because, Anubis.

    Dior Feve D.
    So lovely. Sweet and resinous.

I was in no 5 edp all afternoon/night yesterday and woke up in no 5 today. I have switched to Kyoto for work today. I am going to finish stocking stuffers tomorrow.

  • Ariel says:

    Chanel No. 5
I needed classic as it was my first day working in a café in over fifteen years, and who doesn’t need old school for old school cool?
The place is a bit of a wreck, and I look forward to helping sort it out without the burden of worrying about payroll 🙂

    • Portia says:

Good luck with the new job Ariel. you smelled fabulous.

      • Ariel says:

Aw, thanks! It’s not really a new job- just a family venture and I’m pitching in as-needed. I’ve always loved restaurant/café work. Intense, mentally challenging, and work stays at work. Plus, people are looking for a treat and I love making their days brighter- especially these days!

Gorilla Karma from a vintish black 10ml tube. My 30ml black bottle had given itself up to the angels as those bottles do often often do.
It’s fizzy Fanta orange pop x hippy juice patch hit the spot today. I needed to check for anosmia.
A Karma washcard should be issued to every dwelling to test for Covid anosmia!

  • Calrayo says:

I just put on a little Epic Woman to get me through the day. The cinnamon reminds me of all the baking I’m planning to do this weekend. My spouse and I usually do a big cookie-decorating-and-gluhwein party with our friends, and I’m missing it. I’m going to do some cookies anyways and will put together a few cookie bags for my neighbors. The house will smell good, at least!

  • Dina C. says:

Dabbed on some Gucci Envy parfum, a top five favorite of mine. I normally think of this as a spring time scent since it’s such a green floral, but it was calling out to me today.

  • Amateur Dilettante says:

Shalimar. I never liked it until I tried a smidge of a vintage extrait, and now I get it. Completely different than the ubiquitous cologne tester at any department store, whenever I’d try it, it always smelled like a lemony dirty diaper. I’m wearing the last of my sample today.
    I hope everyone is well!

  • Queen-Cupcake says:

Winter’s cold, dry air has made my skin go all flakey, so I lavished on some Rose Body Oil from Andy Tauer. I bought it a few years ago, and forgot I even had it. Now I am steeping in rose fragrance and my skin is feeling softer.

  • Cassieflower says:

    Miller Harris Violet Ida.

  • Portia says:

Trying the Gallivant house. There was recently a super sale on sets of testers here in Oz. There was a set, only middling Bukhara, for almost nothing so I pounced.
Currently got Tokyo and Brooklyn on separate arms.
Not terrible, not eye lollingly gorgeous for me either. Need more investigation. Details as they come.
