Eau Folle by Le Galion NEW! NEW! NEW! 2025

Hello Posse Crew! I’ve just realized that the Le Galion gents Nicolas and Enno gave me a travel size of their brand new offering Eau Folle when we caught up last month in Paris! So cool. It’s their brand newest 2025 fragrant release and quite unexpected. A super green.

I’m absolutely crazy for their refound and recreated Ava Gardner bespoke fragrance that’s now available to the public in a modernized form, L’Astre. Also, their Tilluel is a freaking dream. So obviously I was excited to try this new adventure.

Eau Folle by Le Galion 2025

Eau Folle Le Galion

Le Galion gives these featured accords:
Top: Basil, wormwood, violet leaf
Heart: Ginger, rosemary, geranium, lavandin
Base: Vetiver, patchouli, cedar, and olibanum

Perfumer Julien Rasquinet has been responsible for a lot of my loves: Headspace Myrrhe, Creed Iris Tuberose & Royal Oud, Masque Milano Russian Tea, three of Naomi Goodsir’s, Costume National I and many others in your collections. So the pedigree is good.

The opening is citrus and greenery, mainly basil made spicy with ginger and that lovely tangy darkness of torn artemisia stalks. Interestingly, that very green zing lasts only for about a minute before being smoothed. I’m not even sure what is doing the calming but it could be any of lavender, rosemary, patchouli or olibanum working in concert. What it smells like to me is Peru balsam and/or elemi. That vegetal smoothness with a resinous citrus waft.

As we head towards the heart there is a clear herbal greenery. Suddenly Eau Folle coalesces into a beautiful wash of shady greenery beside a stream with a little mossy earth and some broken grass from walking. It’s the instant cool of coming out from the sun and that first plunge into crystal clear creek water. There is even a waft of that long loved florists fridge.

Eau Folle is an ode to verdance. Even in deep dry down I still smell some basil and the crisp oily greenness of vetiver over a resinous wash. Excellent.

Eau Folle Le Galion

You’re all heading into the heat of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. I reckon this could be the ultimate winner for right now. It’s a sunny day in Sydney winter and Eau Folle worked beautifully. I spent it walking the dogs and visiting my BFFs Dad for a cuppa and catch up. Later wore Eau Folle to trivia.

Unisex but leaning towards traditional midcentury masculine. I do think it will be a perfect foil for the heatwaves coming. Longevity is solid but after a couple of hours wears very close.

Do you have a summer spritz that hits the same spot as Eau Folle?

You’ve been reviewing some amazing greens fragrances. I wish they sat better on me. I will add Le Galion to list for visit next time in Paris. If only to say Portia sent me 🙂

  • Musette says:

That sounds absolutely delicious, Portia! Not too resinous but enough to bolster the Green!

I’ve liked several of the Le Galion offerings – this is a definite Must Try!!

  • Tom says:

I haven’t tried any of these but you (as always) make them sound soooo gooood..

  • March says:

Oh that sounds GLORIOUS. I need to poke around and see if Le Galion does sample sets, I need to try the others as well. Sometimes I really miss living in a big city where it was easier to sample perfume! Although these might be hard to track down even there…

I don’t know about sample sets but I got my Le Galion samples from ScentSplit (no affiliation) in Texas including the ones on their way to me now. I have always had great luck with them.

  • Maya says:

Green perfumes are still iffy for me though I have been exploring them a bit more. I did try Le Galion Iris. It’s nice. I have a sample order on its way to me. I included L’Astre because – the notes, the write-up, and Rodrigo Flores-Roux. Glad to hear you think it’s great.
This summer my perfume choices are all over the place.

Is this in the same ballpark as Silences & Eau de Campagne or leaning towards Papillon Dryad?
I really enjoy greens but already have a few

Portia, Eau Folle is singing the siren song of green goodness to me. Happy sigh. Sounds so lovely when here in Virginia we are having another wicked hot and humid streak of weather. I’m wearing Lubin Gin Fizz today, a unisex citrus aromatic with good staying power. Thanks for a beautiful review!

  • Sounds amazing!
