I suppose the main answer is “not much.” I am still having the tail end of whatever this allergy thing is and things are still a little bit.. off.
I did have to get up Saturday morning to open the garage gate and freeze it that way. Edison was going to be replacing a light bulb or something so the whole block would be without electricity. From 8am to 5pm. No juice means no open garage gate. And even the allure of having hunky workmen outside your window on the power pole like some sort of Man-Kebob dims when you realize that if you can see him there’s a very good chance that he can see you..

Is he strapped it?
Sunday we had a minor disaster involving our front door. Which I won’t bore you with other than to type that if someone promises to replace something that is dated, but functional with something flashy and new, run. I’m looking at all those one-day shower replacement ads as well, if not the one-day dental implant ones..
It did, however mean more hunky workmen on ladders. I felt popcorn and a lawn chair would have been tacky.

View from my fave street
Oddly enough, one thing that I can smell clearly is Super Bloom, the (IMHO) better half of one of Sarah Horowitz’ perfect pairing. Although I do like it with the fruity goodness of Perfect Nectar, I prefer my spring posies neat. Super Bloom is nothing if not neat: in editing it down for pairing Sarah created a quintessence of Spring. All of the pellucid freshness of buds bursting through soil without any of the canned-syrup aspect that too often goes hand-in-hand with some of these types of scents. And that’s coming from someone who actually liked the separate fruity part, even if I did give it to someone who loved it.

Malibu. There used to be houses there.
I also went for a drive- shocking, I know. It’s interesting going the same route two weeks in a row. The hills in the west valley are returning to gold, drying up after the last month’s rains. The construction of the wildlife crossing in Calabasas continues apace, which is wonderful. Traffic threw me off, cutting the trip North off. I did take a scenic route through the Malibu hills on the way back. I guess I should have taken some pictures, but by the time I thought of it the opportunity was already gone.
Our weird weather continues. One week rain, one week desert temps and today the threat of rain. Fine with me.
For those of you keeping score I am down 75. (102)
And what did you do over the weekend?

That’s a nice drive right there Tom! Beats our rainy/cold Connecticut weather any day.
Super bloom sounds really nice and I’m wondering how prominent the honeysuckle note is in it?
I think it takes a backseat to the others but it’s discernible.
Nothing wrong with Connecticut.
Here in Virginia, we have unseasonably warm temps which has caused massive pollination. I’m staying indoors like I’m hiding out from zombies. Your photos are lovely Tom. Glad you got out for a drive.
It was nice to. Last night it rained. Kind of weird.
Pellucid is such a wonderful word. I will appropriate it.
Well done you on the weight loss.
thanks!
I was just thinking that!
I love interesting words ..
I’m nothing if not wordy.
And funny.
And cute.
Heya Tom,
Love that you had some Bella Vistas out the window. Always a happy result.
We are having manic weather too but today is glorious. Sunny, not too warm and excited for the Pink Full Moon this week.
Portia xx
We had rain overnight. It’s sunny and cool today.
Weird and wacky weather has become the norm for a while now. I’m getting kind of used to it.
Super Bloom is so very pretty. That was a blind buy success! But now I don’t get to wear it anymore. My daughter tried it and it went home with her. She is extremely picky about her perfumes and she loves it. It is now also available in body products in the Custom part of SH website. That got my interest!
Oooh I’ll have to check that out!
