A Little Bit More Lush

Well, we’ve crossed over into ‘proper’ autumn. Colder, damp, though sun here and there. First time lighting the woodstove this past Saturday. Gathering up the eucalyptus tree’s shedded bark which makes good fire starter.

I am slowly cutting back the garden plants (the huge jasmine tends to take weeks of pruning around the last flowers) and bringing in the indoor plants that spent summer outdoors. I imagine them looking wistfully over my shoulder as they are moved to the living room.

I had popped into Lush a bit ago and noticed they had some ‘seasonal’ shower gels. As we’re moving towards my fave holiday of the year (Halloween) the next time I was in town I picked up the small size of the three that piqued my interest.

So, we’re doing Boo!, S’Mores and Cinnamon Spiced Latte today.

Cinnamon Spiced Latte. Cinnamon, ginger, coffee, nutmeg and vanilla. This is really nice: warming, spicy, a good kick of coffee, all with the sweet undercurrent of vanilla. A negative is that it has sparkle. It’s cheerful making and nice in that early morning shower.

S’Mores. Cinnamon, benzoin and fenugreek. This is my fave of the three. It really does smell of those wonderful graham cracker, marshmallow and chocolate sweets best done over an open fire. The farm shop promises these will be available at the pumpkin fest, which I’ll be attending at the end of the month. I am sceptical as we don’t have Graham Crackers here, but still hopeful.

Boo! Almond, lemon and cedar. I smelled this from the bottle and wasn’t sure but fell for the name. I can honestly say that this is terrible. What was Lush thinking? It gets 3.4 stars on the site (I looked after I bought) and someone says it smells like bathroom cleanser – Cif or stuff like that. I concur. Am thinking this might be moved to the kitchen sink and used to wash dishes.

I can hear the fire crackling as I write. I am not an autumn person. I accept the season as it moves us a bit further along towards more light. This past summer’s heat was really hard to take but maybe Mother Nature will be calmer after the expected very wet and cold El Niño winter… One can but hope.

Any new Lush finds – or other bath/shower?

LOVE a LUSH shower gel Cinnamon. Yeah, even the weird assed awful ones.
Good luck with the garden pruning and the descent into cool.

I really do enjoy a lot of Lush shower stuff. Boo! is the first one though that I think is really really meh in the scent department. I mean, who okayed this?

The Cinnamon Latte sounds lovely, but having crossed the threshold of 70, I don’t do sparkle. I like Lush’s bath gels sometimes, but not always. I wanted to like Rose Jam but it ends up meh for me. Sticky Dates doesn’t sound like me but you all rave about it, so I need to give it a try, I think.

We have just begun turning into fall here and have been promised an especially wet and probably colder than normal winter – after our hotter than normal summer. I’ll take cold and wet over 100 degrees plus anytime though!

In general, I don’t do shimmer. This doesn’t bother me too much. And it really does smell good. Very seasonal.

I think Sticky Dates is great but can see it being meh as very sweet and gooey.

Well thanks for letting us know. I may need to go over and get some smores (better than eating the real thing!) and “boo” to Boo! Great name, though..

Yes, the S’mores is worth a look. I have trouble with marshmallows due to the braces, which is a good thing as they are the kind of food that you just eat … no control.

It is a great name, isn’t it. Too bad the goo doesn’t live up to the name.

Last Autumn they had a Harvest Moon? Harvest Gold? I can’t remember. But it was sparkly gold and smelled of osmanthus. I loved it, so of course it was Limited Edition! I still love Rose Jam and Grass. I think Tom is the one who mentioned Grass. A lemming was created!

I love Grass too. For some reason, I’ve gone off Rose Jam. Still love Sticky Dates and would be sad if they stopped making that. Might buy a big bottle next time I’m in town.

Cinnamon Spiced Latte sounds enjoyable but the sparkle mean it is a hard no.
Not planning any Lush purchases this season.

The sparkle is weird. it’s not a big thing — more nicely incorporated — but it’s still sparkle.

In general, I tend to be a LUSH bath goo fan – but Boo! sounds like it smells awful (for shower) – but it’ll probably be great for dishes and/or floors (I tend to ‘win’ generic shower gels and when I do, I use them to wash floors and walls)

Does the eucalyptus bark smell divine? Hope so!

Boo! Is peculiar and pointless. The positive reviews got both lemon and almond, neither of which I got.

The eucalyptus bark smells lovely and burns very hot.
