Sweet Water by Liz Cook for One Seed

Hey Hey Perfume Posse Peeps!!!
Portia from AustralianPerfumeJunkies here again on this lovely Friday to kick start your weekend with a small Aussie niche company, One Seed, who are dedicated to bringing you Australian made, not following but trail blazing, natural, harm as little of the earth during production as possible, simple recyclable packaging covering extremely delicious juice made of the best fragrant botanic extracts and natural ethanol from Aussie grapes!! Can I have an AMEN in here? Sweet Water by Liz Cook for One Seed is a refreshing change from everything else I have been smelling lately. Not that any of that has been bad but Sweet Water is special and part of the Brave New Scents project for the Natural Perfumers Guild.

Sweet Water EdP by One Seed

From The One Seed website:Sweet Water eau de parfum
A sweet heart of honey, mint and summer blossoms enveloped
by a watery aromatic top note and dewy base of amber and sweet grasses.

Fragrance Family: Sweet green Chypre
Top: Clementine, distilled lime, basil
Heart: Mimosa, linden blossom, honey, hay, sweet clover, jasmine sambac, mint absolute
Base: Tobacco balkans absolute, amber oil, iris butter, tonka bean, labdanum, green tea absolute

With Sweet Water by Liz Cook for One Seed I get a vegetal dark funk to begin with that sends me to the forest floor after light rain, warm wet humus, sharp tang of citrus and breaking bracken as you march past. The flowers come in slowly and are beautifully honeyed, they never lose sight of their basic green-ness though. Once the floral bouquet stops its lovely flight of fancy the warmth of the base creeps in and softens off the green a little. This spicy, green, warmth lasts lightly but more fragrant than a skin scent for around 3-4 hours on my scent hungry skin. Then Sweet Water turns skin-ish and adds a spicy vanilla haze over your flesh that is so close that only you intimate circle will know you smell so good.

Sweet Water by Liz Cook for One Seed is art, a creation that will softly become a part of your own radiant aura. Wearable for dinner and dates but maybe a little too fragrant for severe no perfume policy workplaces.

It’s wonderful to me that there is still a truly niche minded minority continuing the search for wonderful new and interesting fragrances without the hoopla and dreary cloning going on in a lot of mainstream perfumery currently. One seed is making a gutsy and fragrant stand, small but beautiful. Do trot over and see their marvelous small collection of masterpieces, One Seed by Liz Cook.

Once you’ve been and had a look over there why not skip along to AustralianPerfumeJunkies too. There’s always some crazy mayhem going on and we love visitors too. Can’t remember what’s there today but go see.

Till next week wishing you all the good stuff you wish yourselves.

I may have to figure out Etsy in order to try this! Also, I did pop over to APJ and enjoyed your recent posts, especially the one about the upcoming Louis Vuitton. Rue is an herb in every perfumista’s figurative garden, isn’t it?

    • Heya nozknoz,
Etsy is EASY PEASY!! Way easier than learning eBay was for me because you can pay with Paypal and it’s all great. We couldn’t do that in the early eBay days, remember?
RUE!! we have all tasted its bitter regret. He He He

    Hi Portia!
I’m here to wish you well! 😉 Nice review, BTW (I’m not a big fan of all natural perfumes, they rarely work for me – please notice, I’m not saying “never”).

    • Portia says:

      Hey Undina.
I feel well. Thanks for the wish. Most that I’ve tried have fared rather poorly on my skin also so I’m thrilled when a natural or natural company works,

  • Poodle says:

A sampler set for $30? You sure know how to get my attention. This sounds great. I haven’t tried many natural perfumes.

  • Musette says:

This reminds me of when I dug up those ferns. That extreme vegetal smell……then a surprising sweetness….

Sweet Water sounds absolutely beautiful. I will have to go to Etsy and look at the site. Portia you are responsible for creating another lemming.

  • Meredith says:

AMEN! And for dark vegetal funk that turns to spiced vanilla after haloing you in green florals, you can even have a HALLELUJAH! Sweet Water sounds awesome and I love Etsy shops! Win, win!

    • Portia says:

      Hey Meredith,
I have been won over by Etsy lately. They have some great Artisan Perfumers but also a wide selection of Vintage Perfume Sellers, and I am a serious lover of those too.
      Enjoy the One seed magic,
      Portia xx

ONLY $97.00? you gotta be kidding!!

    • Portia says:

      Hiya Jen,
Nope, Not kidding. Awesome value for a natural, made in small batch, artisan perfume that no one else you know will be sporting. A wearable, walkable, divinely scented work of art that enhances your natural and beautiful aromas.
I hope you get to try them one day,

Sorry, no will do–that’s a hotel for one night in a lot of great cities.

        • Portia says:

          Oh,
Jen, You are right. It’s a good hostel for a long weekend with breakfast in Eastern Europe and 1/5 of our 15 day, unlimited countries for a month Eurail pass too. We are currently booking holidays so I get your reference.
          Sorry, I misunderstood your comment.
