Kai Bathing Bubbles by Kai

Hello GORGEOUS POSSE! Portia coming at you from Australia Perfume Junkies and you may remember that I like to take a daily bath? You may also remember that we went on an incredible bus tour in May, the Scentsation LA Bus Tour!! Our first stop on that magical tour was the LuckyScent brick and mortar shop ScentBar ( map it ) on Beverly Blvd! There was a scrummy champagne breakfast, the ScentBar crew, Jeffrey Dame and the Fueguia perfumer Julian Bedel. There were also a bunch of prizes and giveaways and I got a Kai Bathing Bubbles.

Fragrantica gives Kai’s featured accords as White Flowers and Gardenia. So they have made up a gorgeously soft and clean version of gardenia and padded it with amorphous white flowers. It was an instant hit and the celebrities started saying that the Kai Perfume Oil was their choice of fragrance. BAM! Instant global success. I can understand that, it is gorgeous in a soapy, freshly laundered way. I have a bottle of the EdP myself and it is very nice, in a completely wearable, soft shimmering sheen of fragrance way. It’s exactly the kind of fragrance that everyone around you will ask who smells good.

What came in my goody bag from the ScentBar guys though that I really adore, and it adds hours of life to all my white flower centric fragrances is the Kai Bathing Bubbles! You can only get them in the Kai Travel Set and it’s a fabulous 60ml/2oz bottle. So perfect for travel but also gorgeous to fit in the cupboard.

Looks fabulous yes? ONLY $49!! Can you believe it? $49 for this super great set and you can layer it under any fragrance but especially with your white florals. WINNING! I have the deodorant too and it is fab! Very lightly scented and thus does not clash with my fragrance of the day when it’s not Kai.

I, too, like the Kai deodorant (am just about out) and would love to try something similar. So Portia, do tell — what is the one you have that’s similar (and please, please tell me it’s less expensive)? Thanks!

I might be a fan with this description! I love white flowers, except for tuberose, which is pretty much an instant turn-off for me. But I love clean, soapy, pretty fragrances. so perhaps I should try this?

I’ve already started Christmas shopping too. Kai is actually a nicer scent than I thought it would be. I do want to get one of the body products I think or perhaps that kit. It’s not complicated but for tubby time it’s perfect.

So happy to read about Kai. It has a special place in my heart. Kai is one of the first perfumes I got and is actually what started me on my perfume journey as I started looking at what notes I liked. I had actually smelled it on a friend and asked what it was. She told me it was Kai and I put it on my birthday list. (Yes, I am in my thirties and still make a birthday and Christmas list for my parents!) My mom ended up getting my the Body Glow and Body Butter for me. So it was a bit of a blind buy, but I loved it! After I started wearing it my mom got on board and wanted it too. She doesn’t usually wear perfume but she thought it was so light and easy to wear. She ordered the EDP and Body Butter and it actually smells better on her! In fact, one day I put on some Body Butter (which is divine, btw) and my son said to me ‘you smell like grandma’. I told my mom this and she was thrilled! She figured no one had noticed her Kai but her grandson sure did! Now I actually think of it as my mom’s scent but still enjoy wearing it.

P.S. Oh I’m with you on the Christmas shopping! I’m already thinking about it too because it’s ONLY 3 months away! 🙂

Christmas is going to be here before I know it and now I have something to get either my mother or grandmother. I’ve never tried the Kai stuff and I do like my white flowers except tuberose.

I love my white flowers to be indolic but tuberose, no matter what, is just too much for me. Usually, stocking stuffers are the first thing that go out the window.

Out the window is the I either forget, don’t have quite enough money or just don’t have time to get or make the stocking stuffers

Hey babydoll! Oooh! I wanna! Actually, I don’t because I’m not a huge fan of Kai but! I loveloveLOVE the idea of it as a layer under other gardenias/bwf! And that price is SLAMMO! I could see myself doing the Very Same Thing for my non-perfumista pals, especially if I wanted to gateway them into perfumistadom!

ps. my not being a huge fan of Kai has nothing to do with the scent (it’s lovely) – just, I like mine a bit more bombastic. But you’re right – it’s one of those ‘who smells so good’ kinda scents! Unlike some of the wackadoo stuff I wear that has people going ‘wtf is THAT?’ 😀

Y’know, I don’t know as I have ever sampled Kai. I love Monyette Paris, which from what I understand is Kai Noir. I should seek a sample since I’m getting my feet wet in the white floral world.

Yay, yay, yay!! Portia, so happy to see you getting on the Kai bus! Sometimes it gets pooh-poohed in perfumista circles, but I care not a whit — I love it, too. It’s a fabulously pretty scent that always pleases, so what’s not to like? And it was a great comfort scent to me a few years back when my son nearly died, so I have a special affinity for it. BTW, did you have a wonderful birthday? Sure hope so. Hugs to you …
