To be honest I was sure I had written about Futur for Perfume Posse before. I know I’ve had it in my lists for Best Ofs. and I do write about it a bit because it gets some consistent skin time around here. With the Northern Hemisphere in deepest winter I thought a sweet green and white floral fragrance could be exactly what the doctor ordered. Both cooling and super cool, in my eyes. A green often bypassed in the world of perfumistas. It is a sweet, floral green which makes it hard to pigeon hole. The people who love flowers say it’s too green, the people who love green complain it’s a pussy of a green, too floral, flowery, girly. I ask you to put prejudice aside for one moment and come meet a favourite fragrance of mine. A scent unusual in the world of perfume and lovely beyond expectation, every time….

Let’s talk about the opening; Even though the opening seems to be a sizzling, sparkling fizz of citrus and aldehydes I feel that the ylang is already growling around the perimeter fence, subtly adding its warm and buttery breath to the mix. Resins too are there, maybe galbanum? Something green and earthy but with a very faint animal vibe, I wonder if there is some labdanum which often gives me a breathy/hairy/leathery green sensation.
Whatever is working away in Futur I find it very appealing. This quirky soft focus floral green that is fragrant but not obtrusive, that some wears skews a little soapy and other times is crisper, dryer, then others the ylang is king and I find myself adrift in a river of green, light green, a haze of soft mint chiffon. That’s it! Futur is a little like chatreuse, the colour and even the drink as long as its been given a very long glass and filled with orange & lime slices, crushed mint, champagne and lemonade.

Futur lasts well into the 4th hour fragrantly then begins the slow slide into an earthy green wash of nothing. Initially it’s throw is excellent but as it gets softer you will have to be close to really smell you, and it will be enchanting. Unisex, completely and utterly.

This is one of the older Piguets, do you have a favourite from the line? Maybe I should be talking about another green, which one do you love?
I hope you all have a wonderful 2015. Fill it chock full of the good stuff for yourself and others.
Portia xx
I have a sample of this somewhere but haven't tried it (weird how I'll order stuff and then go, "EHhhh, I don't wanna bother trying something new today"). And it's probably a bit cold here for a floral green - my very favorite genre, if you held a gun to my head and made me choose. But I will try it. I WILL. Smooches.
