Luci ed Ombre by Masque Milano

Hey Posse! Luci ed Ombre was one of Masque Milano’s three original fragrances in 2012. It wasn’t until they released Tango and Russian Tea in 2014 that I even started hearing about them and the original scents seemed to be mostly ignored. Google translates Luci ed Ombre into Lights and Shadows, something I look for in fragrance constantly. Here we see the idea done with a thrilling juxtaposition of warm and cool elements, very nice.

Luci ed Ombre by Masque Milano Parfumo

Parfumo gives these featured accords:
Top: Frankincense
Heart: Ginger, Tuberose, Jasmine, Moss
Base: Frankincense, Cedarwood, Patchouli

Ahhhhhhh, ginger, white flowers and cool, resinous incense. This is a really smooth fragrance. Not smelling like but with definite qual;cities of Mona di Orio’s Eau Absolue and one of the MFKs but I can’t remember which. Interestingly the frankincense in this fragrance smells lightly citrus like elemi but maybe it’s the white flowers? I’m not sure. Whatever it is I think you need to get your nose onto Luci ed Ombre.

The heart is very white floral and i’m surprised there isn’t orange blossom, the tuberose and jasmine are heady and delirious yet manage to also feel restrained. This is not a BWF, yet it is a white floral. I also smell something minty and am wondering if it’s the famous mentholated tuberose? It’s a tingling coolness among the raunch. Dangerously skirting medicinal or cleaning product through the heart but manages to only glance there, not become.

Later a torn bark and twig, and nail polish accord peek through, freaky as, woke me right up and got me enjoying the fragrance all over again but from a different angle. Fade to soft, resinous woods.

GAH! Lately I keep trying things I desperately want to own. Here is another. The good news is that it comes in 30ml and 100ml so I can grab a smaller one for me or a larger one for sharing.

I love MM. They don’t all work for me, but the ones that do I adore.

  • Tara C says:

It’s quite strong on the opening, kind of like Norma Kamali Incense, but then it dries down nicely into an exotic incense scent. Very long-lasting.

  • Tara says:

I may have tried it back when it was first launched, but have no memory of it and need to try it again. Montecristo was a bit too animalic/butch on me, even though I liked it. I also have Mandala.

  • Brigitte says:

    Wow! this sounds gorgeous!!!!
I tried Romanza a while ago and remember liking it.
I am currently nursing a sample of L’Atessa which is to die for.
Will eventually try Russian Tea but am also curious about Times Square and Mandala (mostly because of their names-LOL!)

      This is really gorgeous Brigitte.
I think Masque have been pumping out some seriously good fragrances. Not everyone agrees and Hemingway was only nice for me but mostly they are superb.
