A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.
You can also comment on everyone else SOTD choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and Perfume Posse people love to chat. We like to keep it fragrant but there’s always room for life events and adventures too. This is our place to share how we smell, live, love, eat, work, raise kids and pets and get on with the business of living.
SOTD 1.5.2020
You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz. Whenever you feel the mood take you, share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at Perfume Posse, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.
Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your SOTD comment. Then you can reply to them, and so on.
Go To It Crew.

Earlier today I liberally spritzed myself with Clinique’s Aromatics In White. Space flowers and sand blasted vanilla.
Just now I spritzed SJP Born Lovely. it opens with a smell like a Sharpie Permanent Marker but then becomes a watery space floral.

L’Artisan Safran Troublant today – finishes off the working work just delightfully.
Beautiful choice Melanioe,
There’s a bottle of it around here somewhere. I’l look for it. thanks for the reminder.

S&B White Peaches. Juicy.
S&B? Do I know them Cassieflower?
Neela Vermeire Creations Rahele tonight. I love its quiet beauty. The most serene of the NVC oeuvre.

Hanging in the L’Artisan house this week. Yesterday AlOudh and Vanille Absolument.
They work nicely together I think. Today it’s Timbuktu.
I had some Premier Figuier on the other day, maybe yesterday. L’Artisan does solid scents Melanie. YUM
I love the idea of altering those two, good idea.

Taking a short break from Possets and testing samples that were handpicked for me by Alkemia. First one up is La Flamme. I told them I love smoke, spices, tea and OAK MOSS. This perfume hits it out of the park, containing all of the notes I really love. Incense and tea, with lots of spices all bolstered by honest to god detectable oakmoss. It’s based on an old hoodoo recipe for gaining your heart’s desires. And they have a 1 Oz spray version in addition to smaller bottles of the perfume oil so I can be wanton with this one! On my “I need a big bottle of this” list now.
OOOH! Sounds gorgeous Carolyn.
Thunking, not thinking. Stupid autocorrect doesn’t understand perfume parlance.
Lauren Style again. Nearing bottom of bottle so I’ll aim for thinking it this year. Then I can open yet another one.
Woo HOO! Love the nearing of the THUNK! Cassiflower.
Do you have a good backup game for Style?
Portia xx
Oh yes, plus matching body lotions. Good for several years to come.
Misia EdT by CHANEL! My favourite of the iris lipstick scents.
Perfect fit for a mid-temp, sunshiny, autumn day.

Today I tested “The Moon” by Possets. The Website says: “White long silky spun threads of three white musks combined with an almost creamy insinuation of white beeswax carrying a very sophisticated edge. Not a foody despite the sweetness of beeswax. This blend will intrigue you and tickle you at the same time, a little like falling in love. Ethereal but warm. Very skin-like and sexily calming. This one has a My Sin vibe to it, the best of vintage perfumery brought up to date in the 21st century.”
I agree that it was what I wanted my sample of vintage Lanvin’s My Sin to smell like. (I think my Lanvin sample may have been a little past it’s prime.) So I’m very happy with scent of The Moon. Longevity, unfortunately, not so much. Goes away much quicker than other Possets perfume oils I’ve tried recently which is a shame because this really is lovely. Have to figure out whether frequent reapplication is worth investing in larger bottle.
Hey Carolyn,
Was your My Sin kinda oily, like a nasty petrol spill at the start? That’s how off aldehydes smell to me.
Portia x
Just trying the My Sin sample again and yes for a couple of sniffs it does smell a bit motor oil’ish but then it settles down and smells like not much of anything. 🙁 Will see how it plays with The Moon since I still have remnants of that one on my arm.
Fidji from my continuous spray bottle. Hold finger on the sprayer and go for it. Wheeee
Hey Cassieflower,
We call those bottles Easy Lovers. HA!
Aren’t they the best?

I’ve been wearing so much fabulous fragrance the last two days.
Yesterday morning: Amor Amor by Cacharel. A sweet fizzy fruit beauty that my buddy Anna Maria gave me.
Afternoon: Guerlain Samsara EdP in the older red bottle. Such a DIVA scent.
Evening: Arabie by Serge Lutens. The sweet fruity resins were a perfect fit over the last remnants of Samsara.
Did a lot of wandering around our area with the dogs today, also went to the Post Office and Supermarket, did Nachos for dinner when Jin got home from work. We watched a bit of TV but he was dog tired so went to bed early.
Today morning I’m in Mohur EdP by Neela Vermeire Creations.
Jin got up early, went to our local Korean shop and grabbed us a takeaway coffee from the cafe next door. What a lovely way to wakeup. Very lazy day around the house today. TV, snacks, chill.

FRAGRANT. Yippee.
I’m having a house party – L’Artisan style. Voleur de Roses yesterday, Noir Exquis today, and couple more lined up ready for next few days.
late to the party – but wearing vintage Diorella, which isn’t nearly as skanky as current Diorella (much to my surprise) which I sprayed atop the vinty – chypre-ish/floral-ish…but the oakmoss is translating as rotting meat, which is very intriguing.
Well this is an interesting atmospheric perfume from Possets. It’s called Paisley and is an homage to the East Indian woven paisley shawls brought to port by trading ships. They were apparently steeped in patchouli to repel months during their long trip across the ocean and stored in wooden trunks. The perfume is supposed to mimic the smell of a patchouli drenched paisley scarf being unfurled for the first time after being stored in a wooden trunk that has apparently also contained some potent Eastern spices. it’s unusual, made with 100% natural ingredients and I really like it when it settles down after a few minutes.
wow! that sounds intriguing (and I am not a patch fan).
WOW Carolyn,
That sound fabulous. Where is Possets? Interesting when they say 100% natural ingredients
Portia x
Possets is here in the US. Physically located in Ohio.
EB Florals Virgin Lily of the Valley from a travel spray gifted to me by the ever generous Kathleen. Been really rough working from home and it will continue into the unforseeable future (crying emoji). I will probably wear this all week. In Brigitte size amounts. And in all likelihood thunk it.
Sorry to read you’re having a tough time working from home Brigitte. What seems to be the worst problem with it for you?

The long hours, challenging technology that I have never had to use before, not having a proper office, crazy administrators, difficult “clients”, sitting in front of a Chromebook for 17 Skype sessions in a row, not being able to separate home life from work life, trying to navigate four folks in a very small house all trying to get their work done simultaneously off of one internet provider and three needing quiet while I need to be talking …ok, I will stop there 😉
Bulgari’s blue tea, until I come up with a more definite plan…
Hey AnnieA,
I love the Bulgari tea series. I wear the green and black ones.

Posset’s Scent From Heaven – Woah, this is a punch in the nose by a huge bouquet of tuberose. Has some sillage too. I love gardenia, jasmine and magnolia but struggle with tuberose, especially when it is this powerful, so this goes into the “glad I tried it but need to give it to a tuberose lover”pile.
Notes: tuberose, jasmine, peach, iris, gardenia, apricot, ambergris, coriander, balsam, and red musk.
Bummer Carolyn,
Your wallet is happy though.
Portia xx
Just had a boiling hot 1am bubble bath with L’Artisan Premier Figuier shower gel and spritzed Brigitte amounts of the perfume afterwards. I am a lactonic figgy cloud right now.
Yum 🙂
Rogue Antique Jasmin. So nice on this warm and sunny day.
Hey there Maya,
Good to see you here as always.
Antique Jasmin is a very cool frag name.
Portia xx
FM Carnal Flower. Hitting all the spots.
Woo Hoo! BIG white floral alert.
Smelling gorgeous Cassieflower.
Portia xx
I love that perfume So Much.
(thumbs up emoji)
Very unmotivated for household chores this morning so wearing four scents at once. Joop Le Bain, Strangers San Clemente and Aroon Sawat and 2787 Genetic Bliss.
Le Bain floating around. The Genetic Bliss reminds me of DS Durga Radio Bombay. Aroon Sawat a winner.
WOW! You must be super fragrant Melanie!
Genetic Bliss is a fabulous name for a fragrance.

Today I’m sampling Posset’s Pavane. I’m a little stumped as to how to describe. Website says it’s a gourmand that will tempt even those who are on a diet from gourmands. It has Posset’s silver base, which seems to be a musky non-foody Vanilla, artemisia, which gives it a savory/herbal almost arid desert-like feel and sweet cardamon, which adds a nutty/woody note. First few minutes is definitely vanilla-heavy and then the other notes come in, turning it savory/herbal/arid rather than sweet on my skin. Definitely musky. This one perplexes me. Definitely need to retry after it rests a bit longer. Anyone else familiar with this one?
FM Rose & Cuir. And when I did some vacuuming earlier I got an almost matching blast from the filter as I have Rose Geranium eo in the vacuum bag. Tis mighty fragrant around here today.
Where did you find scented vacuum filters? I might be more inclined to vacuum if it would make my house smell like yours! 🙂
It’s just some essential oil on a cotton pad that I drop into the vacuum. Just under the filter. Works a treat.
Nice!
I am wafting a trail of Worth Courtesan tonight, thanks to an amazingly generous person who bequeathed a bottle to me.
WOO HOO! Carolyn, I thought I was the ONLY pefumista who loves Courtesan. Isn’t it fabulous? That pineapple fruity note up top and then the furry musk dry down. MMMMMMM
Portia xx
There’s a third Courtesan lover. Waving madly.
YAY! I love finding this out Cassieflower!
Waving back Cassieflower!!! Maybe we should start a club…The Courtesan Lover’s Club…very exclusive membership. Must love off the beaten track quirky skank perfumes. 😉
Oh my gosh…I love this one sooo much. It was the Posse who introduced me to it years ago and I’ve been pushing decants to buddy’s saying “you must try this” for years!!
Stressed to the max today, so relying on Chanel Deauville, a favorite.
Sorry to read you’re stressed Maggiecat,
Deauville is so beautiful, I hope it calms the drama for you.
Portia xx
I decided on Ormonday Jayne Woman. A perennial fave!
100% with you on that Patty, beautiful.
Portia xx
Wearing vintage Norell. It was the first perfume I bought myself, at the drugstore, with babysitting money. It smells gorgeous, don’t know why I never wear it.
I never did smell the vintage Norell Rosarita313,
It’s on a bunch of peoples love lists though. Is it a chypre?
Portia xx
Two of my biggest regrets will always be that I was too young to go to Woodstock and that I never got to be in Janis Joplin’s presence. I’m wearing a perfume that was created in homage to her today called Piece of My Heart by Possets Perfume. Starts out with a sparking note of sarsaparilla. Now if someone had told me I’d enjoy wearing root beer I would have given them a cocked eyebrow stare but this is just really well done and so much fun. Within moments some honey peeks out that quickly opens up the way for the entrance of spice and a light patchouli. This is just…quirky and beautiful, like my beloved Janis. Well done Possets!
WOW Carolyn,
This sounds fabulous, and a little bit weird. YAY!
Portia xx
Well I’m wearing the heck out of that Isabey thanks to you, it is absolutely me! You will hear more about it on my next post, and thanks!
Excellent March.
I was wearing it earlier today too. Isn’t it beautiful? Perfect mid season wear.
Portia xx
Wearing Jacomo Silences today, a lovely green which reflects the bright green all around us here in lush Virginia. We’ve had a ton of rain, so everything is growing and blooming and spreading pollen like crazy. ah-choo!
Hey DinaC,
I freaking LOVE Silences. there’s quite a collection of it around here. It seems impossible to find even online anymore.
Portia xx
Hehe it is a beautiful fragrance but not on me, this was one of those scents I bought not once but twice and then passed the bottles on to others who wore them better…
You smell wonderful, DinaC. I love Silences and wear it often this time of year.
Wearing Youth Dew and Youth Dew Amber often, as well as Youth Dew dusting powder. It brings such comfort!
WOW! Kathleen, you are the Youth Dew Queen today.
Enjoy wafting that perfectly gorgeous fragrance.
Portia xx
Love the dusting powder! Especially before bed.
Dark Rum – Malin+Goetz. Just beautiful!
I really like the Malin+Goetz packaging Erica. It’s the white one with coloured writing yeah? I’ve not tried any of their frags yet though.
Dark Rum is their standout?
Portia xx
Ralph Lauren Style. Long discontinued and nobody seems to have heard of it. Wohoo, all the more for meee.
I haven’t heard of it at all Cassieflower. What does it smell like?
Portia xx
I’d describe it as a gentle white floral. But definitely not a tuberose bomb. Rosy magnolia is mostly what I get. A wear anywhere perfume, it’ll never scare the horses.
Tonight after a fabulous LUSH Rose Jam bubble bath I’m wearing loads of Clinique Aromatics Elixir.
So rich and deep, I’m happily lost in it right now.
Portia xx
ooohh I love Aromatics. One of the few bottles I finished 🙂
YAY! It’s so good. I’ve finished one of those little perfumes of it but there are two larger bottles in different parts of the office that get wear at different times, so probably won’t ever finish them.
Portia xx
I still have not smelled Aromatics Elixir, or Wrappings either. Need to fix that.
Hey Rosarita313,
Yeah, definitely. Aromatics Elixir sends me on a happily huffing journey every time.
Wrappings never captured me in the same way but there is an army of fans out there.
