Fleur Diamantine by Maison Crivelli

Hi Posse! I’ve been waiting for you all to get some warmer weather so we could talk about this beautiful green floral fragrance. My sample came as a GWP from my last First In Fragrance order. DO NOT talk to me about their updated site! What a shit show. I can’t find ANYTHING there anymore. Anyway, Fleur Diamantine is a fantastic name for a fragrance. Kudos to Maison Crivelli for picking a title that matches the fragrance so perfectly.

Fleur Diamantine by Maison Crivelli

Bertrand Duchaufour 2018

Fleur Diamantine by Maison Crivelli

Parfumo gives these featured accords:
Saffron, Mint, Neroli, Jasmine, Moss

Totally unexpected opening. The mint and saffron are like green walls encasing the white flowers. It’s cool and dewy, like a florists fridge. It’s walking through the park at dawn after rain. Crystal clear blue skies and the whisper of snow. Have you ever picked peonies at dawn in the fog? All these things and a dozen more are running through my head as I wear Fleur Diamantine.

This is beautiful and unusual. Imagine if those simple floral Coach, Tocca or L’Occitane fragrances were suddenly made with the best possible ingredients and given a Duchaufour spin? Instead of simple, suddenly it’s complex, intriguing and has a wonderful story. It now changes through it’s life and powers this lovely sheer/hefty fresh green floral prettiness. While not smelling like them Fleur Diamantine has the personality of sparkling lilacs.

I’m not sure if Fleur Diamantine will be the kind of thing that hard core perfumistas will be after. Maybe if you love Malle’s En Passant or Lutens Bas de Soie then this will strike a fancy in your heart. It’s definitely worth a sniff though.

Leaning traditionally feminine, but totally not. I love the softly noticeable projection and longevity is quite good for something so ephemeral. A perfect warm weather fragrance. So cool and reserved, yet beautiful.

Can you see yourself trying Fleur Diamantine?

I’m quite interested to smell this line, but it will have to wait until my next FiF order this winter. It sounds lovely, I’m a Bas de Soie fan.

    • Portia says:

      Hey TaraC,
      It IS lovely.
Another vote for Bas de Soie. I may review that here in the newer future, just for fun. It’s extra good when a few of you already love it and we can compare experiences.

Yes YES!! Thank you Portia, I have been looking for this one for awhile now and your review sounds like I need to get my hands on this one. I will start hunting it down again.

  • March says:

Whoa that sounds lovely, something I really want to try, anyway, even though Duchaufour can be kind of a mixed bag for me. The saffron/ink note sounds like a fun way to start off, and I love florist chillers.

      March,
I was totally thrilled when trying it. You know when a little shiver of excitement runs through you at first spritz and then doesn’t abate for over an hour? Yeah, that.

I got a few samples of Maison Crivelli’s perfumes several months ago and Fleur Diamantine is absolutely the best among them. On me it’s a translucent airy jasmine with an ink-ish smell in the opening, probably the saffron which is not my favourite note.

    • Portia says:

      Hey Neva,
Ahhhh, ink! I can see what you’re smelling there. Yes. You read ink, I read cold and frosty dewiness. Next time I wear it I’m going to think ink.

After that review I most certainly will try it. It was “picking peonies at dawn” that got me. I’ve done that!

    • Portia says:

      Heya Beverly,
I’ve only done that once, in South Korea, and the memory has stayed fresh in my mind ever since. Massive burgundy peonies on a bush as tall as me.

ooooh, swoon. Haha, now I have a lemming to do that more than try the perfume. Although I would try the perfume if it ever came my way as I love green florals. Love Bas de Soie.
