SOTD 25.9.2020

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else SOTD choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and Perfume Posse people love to chat. We like to keep it fragrant but there’s always room for life events and adventures too. This is our place to share how we smell, live, love, eat, work, raise kids and pets and get on with the business of living.

Perfume Posse SOTD

SOTD 25.9.2020

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz. Whenever you feel the mood take you, share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at Perfume Posse, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your SOTD comment. Then you can reply to them, and so on.

Go To It Crew.

Went off to Aquarobics this morning wearing Trefle Pur by Atelier Cologne. It is a pretty cologne plus fragrance.
Home and Salvatore Ferragamo Convivio from the Tuscan Soul range has arrived. Bought it off a Sale Doc on FB from an Aussie buddy. Perfectly fits the warm spring weather we are having here. Simple green herby scent. Very nice.

Was really good this morning, put on Kenzo Amour, gentle enough not to be overpowering anybody at yoga class this evening. Then blew it all by going sniffing with my niece and a friend. I’m a wall of scent right now. Have to get some of it off me. And soon. My bad. Oops.

Spent the day without spritzing anything. I kept telling myself I was going to have a bath. Then I didn’t.
    It’s 11.15pm and I think I will now.
LUSH Rose Jam bubble bath, here I come.

I’ve been diligently trucking through a bottle of Van Cleef & Arpels Bois D’Iris. Sadly, I think the remaining 1/5th has become muted and more chemical-smelling.

I did have a couple of days that my tiny stash box lived in 80 degree heat for a couple days. (Tricksy to safely stash perfume from both a preschooler and the heat.)

    Do I chuck it?

  • Melanie says:

Metascents Chandra for me – lemon, vetiver, bit of tea and tonka. sits really close but every now and then i get a little waft.

  • Cassieflower says:

Silly smelly story: Earlier in the supermarket I was walking around sniffing and thinking to myself that someone must be wearing REALLY strong perfume as I could smell it through my mask. I was trying to guess who was leaving such a trail. It was only when I reached the outside door that the realization hit: I had been using patchouli oil this morning before I put my clean mask into my bag. I started giggling a bit to myself. Duh, what a wally.

  • Cassieflower says:

Narciso eau Ambrée. Yum (lick lick).

    • Melanie says:

Hello Cassieflower – as a fellow Narciso lover should i investigate? And more importantly, what colour/shape bottle this one? xx

      • Cassieflower says:

What can I say but yes. You definitely need to try it out. It has more of a floral aspect, with a beachy vibe. The bottle is the same cube as the rest of the line in an orange hue.

Through the day I’ve been wearing all four Amouage Renaissance Collection frags. Review coming Thursday.
They are really interesting, off the beaten track but totally wearable.

Monday again! Sylvaine Delacourte Lilylang. This one is fb worthy.

Hello, I’m back. Been off the radar for a while. Today is PG Suede Osmanthe. A sweet and gentle little suede without much growl. A good coating of it makes it last a little better. Will not scare children or horses.

    Versace Blonde tonight.
Had a fabulous trivia night. So many of my favourites!
Tonight it’s 11pm. I’ve come home from trivia, got out of drag, tidied the kitchen, vacuumed the house, washing on second load, about to have a snack and coffee.
Penhaligon’s Halfeti Leather for my cleaning frenzy.
Jin is at work tonight so better I get it all done now so we can both sleep tomorrow.

Hey Portia. Wishing you a belated and warm Happy Birthday! Been wearing Gucci Bloom on and off for the past week. A bottle will probably be in my future.

  • Portia says:

Penhaligon’s Halfeti Leather for work at the Bridal Salon today. Helped a few groups of guys with their suit ideas, gave a bride and MOB bridesmaids advice (they’re booked in for a consult with bridesmaids next week), a couple of formal dresses and I SOLD a WEDDING GOWN! Picked THE dress and four others to try on. In it everything changed about the way she held herself, looked at herself, walked and radiated. It was a magnificent moment and we both knew it was the dress, still she tried on the rest just to be sure. What a wonderful feeling.

    Happy Birthday, Portia!

  • SpringPansy says:

A belated happy birthday, Portia, and many returns of the day. It sounds like it was fantastic.

I’m in Amouage Lyric Woman because Musette mentioned it the other day. I put some on after my shower last night and the drydown is so incredible that I added more this morning. I’m in an amazing world of spicy, rosey warmth.

  • Musette says:

I’m finishing up a Really FILTHY Job (the last cleaning/sweeping/etc of the machine shop, prior to handing over the keys). It’s SO filthy a job that I decided to a) take a shower PRIOR to doing it, b) put on a FULL FACE and c) wear vintage Arpege extrait and dusting powder!
Nobody ever said I had any sense 😉 xoxoxoxo

  • Musette says:

Hey, petunia! Happy Birthday!!! You know I am wishing you the very best ! Is Jin making you dumplings? Oh, wait. That’s MY birthday dinner! LOL! Have a marvelous day! xoxoxoxo

  • matty1649 says:

Happy Birthday Portia. Hope you got lots of lovely pressies. XXX

  • Queen-Cupcake says:

Dear Portia, Happy Birthday! It was so great to see you on the Zoom–you are way handsome, and I love your happy, smiley aura.

My SOTD is a perfume oil from Alkemia–too early in the day for the 70s green chypres I favor. Today’s is Arcanum: eastern spices, aged patchouli, sandalwood, frankincense, nag champa, and “dragons blood.”

  • Neva says:

First of all – happy birthday dear Portia! I hope you have a wonderful day filled with all the things that mean a lot to you.
Today it’s Sublime Balkiss from The Different Company. It was your review on APJ that made me try it. I’m on my second bottle already 🙂

    • Portia says:

      Hey Neva,
Thank you. There was a shitload of wonderful.
Woo Hoo! Sublime Balkiss is fabulous. So glad to have been part of your choice.

Not so much a SOTD (it’s Chanel Cuir de Russie) as birthday greetings to you Portia, hope you ate, drank and spritzed to excess all day and well into the night..
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, thoughts and insights with us, you’re a dead set legend xxx

    • Portia says:

      Hey Lee,
      Thank you.
Yes to all the above. It’s 11.22pm and the first moment I’ve had to sit at the computer and reply to Posse comments. HUGE day. So much fun.
Jin filled the day to the brim and every moment was an adventure.
      Now I’m completely wrecked. YAY!
