Tigers Nest by Memo Paris

Heya Posse Peeps! Tigers Nest is what you will be loving in the autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. I just refound an old decant, probably the one that made me buy a bottle a couple of years ago. NOPE! I just found my bottle and it’s a tester. I’m pretty sure the City Perfume crew gave me this bottle. They’re quickly becoming one of Australia’s biggest fragrance and beauty import and retail chains. Anyway, Memo Paris is one of my favourite modern niche houses and I wrote about Sicilian Leather here not long ago.

Tigers Nest Memo

Memo Paris gives these featured accords:
Top: Absinthe essence, Aldehyde, Lime
Heart: Amber, Saffron, Incense absolute, Osmanthus, Ylang Ylang, Rose
Base: Papyrus, Vanilla, Balsam of Tolu

Amber! Amber warms my soul. Tigers Nest is a lovely, fatty, slightly bitter take on it. Funny thing about amber is no matter how many nose tingling opening notes we are given the base is always fairly similar. Well, here the top is stacked magnificently. The opening is lovely, eye rollingly gorgeous. Then it gets a tingling hit of fresh lime about 5 minutes in. I know absinthe is the essence noted but I also get the distinctive snap of angelica. A scratchy saffron is also notable. I’m imagining that this tigers nest is a cave in the forested and grassed hills and the sharp greenery smell is brought on the breeze or comes from the tigers passing.

Tigers Nest opening lasts beautifully, surprisingly long and continues softly into the heart. As we reach the heart incense becomes the headliner. Cold, new sticks of incense from the Himalayas. Up where China and the Indian states converge. For me the flowers don’t come to the fore. They are doing some low key lifting but it’s never overt enough to make a statement of what is what. You won’t miss them because there is so much else to love.

Tigers Nest by Memo Paris

As the dry down becomes more apparent Tigers Nest becomes quite earthy over the vanilla rich amber. There is still a faint imagining of windswept greenery. In the cooler weather on a spring night in Sydney what usually wears as animalic is not like that at all. Tonight I’m getting a cozy warmth and almost zero furry friend.

Longevity and dispersion are excellent throughout, without being a super skunk. Tigers Nest remains delightfully fragrant for hours and hours before diminishing to a skin scent. A barely there whisper I can smell next morning.

Did you get to smell Tigers Nest? Thoughts?

Memo is one of the handful of perfume lines stocked in a place locally; you are making me neeeeeed to go back over there and smell this one! Overall I really like the line, including their many gorgeous bottles.

I haven’t sniffed Tigers Nest – the few times I have encountered Memo in a store, the range is a little overwhelming! This one sounds fab. I have a decant of Winter Palace which I do love. The bottles are so pretty but the price point is a little over what I’m willing to spend these days so I’ll keep enjoying the decant while I can.

I’m not familiar with most of Memo Paris fragrances; however, Tiger’s Nest sounds like a perfume I would love with amber, warms my soul as well. I love aldehyde opening which sounds interesting with all of the notes. Thank you for the review Portia, I will look for sample. xoxo

This sounds really good. Will have a look for a sample. My only issue with Memo is the huge catalogue. I believe we did them when you were in London — at Harvey Nicks? — and I just felt overwhelmed by that point.

Yeah, they have a slew of fragrances. All those gorgeous bottles just calling for your attention. I get it, suddenly your mind just shuts down.
I really like Tigers Nest, hope you do too Cinnamon,
