Hi there Perfume Posse. Scrolling the NEW page at Surrender To Chance I came across the newest Les Indemodables, it’s called Immortelle Solaire. Not sure about you but the word immortelle immediately piques my interest. Ever since Annick Goutal’s Sables I’ve had a love affair with the note. Solaire is another that is guaranteed to catch my notice. One of my perfume buddies Sonya LOVES this brand and I’ve sniffed a couple of hers. They smell well considered and thoughtfully created to my blunt instrument of a nose. We don’t get them here in Australia, to my knowledge, so sampling means buying a decant.
The pedigree is excellent. Antoine Lie is the Immortelle Solaire perfumer. You’ll know his work for Eris, Comme de Garcons, Puredistance, ELdO and many others. He even did UERMI’s latest Ex-Latex which I’m lemming so hard.
Immortelle Solaire by Les Indemodables 2025

Les Indemodables give these featured accords:
Everlasting Daisy (Immortelle), Hazelnut, Patchouli, Styrax
So is Immortelle Solaire up to sniff? WOW! The opening is lightly burnt bakery. Like French Toast super breakfast! O M G. It’s sharp, smoky, sweet and maple syrup all together, there’s even some backstage bacon being fried. I am laughing out loud in my perfume room. This is fine fragrance but fun.
Once that initial hit of French toast calms I’m left with a very iris, bready/carrot seed scent. A warmer version of iris. Yes I am also getting that nutty note so popular over the last decade or so.

This is Sables grown up, sophisticated sister, maybe even cousin. The bone structure is there but the shape and attitude are worlds apart. Though I’m wearing Immortelle Solaire in shorts and a polo, I’m also thinking it would be a spectacular event fragrance. It’s a showstopper, but not a punch in the face. Fragrant but not combative. Longevity is excellent and it is diffuse but not overbearing. Maybe a little big for close working or an expensive dining experience but everywhere else, perfect.
If Immortelle Solaire was available in Australia I’d be buying it right now. It will have to wait for our next European jaunt.
Does it sound good to you?

Oh man this sounds INCREDIBLE (sorry, late to the party!) I neeeeeed to get ahold of a sample of this!
No time limits on this party March.
Yeah, it’s gorgeous.

You make it sound divine… but bakery notes are not for me, alas
::but you really do make it sound divine, you Siren, you;-)
HA! Soz, but totally not soz Musette.
Sometimes it’s nice to have a stream of perfumes that you can walk past without thought because you just know…

Sables “grown-up, sophisticated sister”? I am so there..
HA! I thought you might be Tom.

Sadly, immortelle doesn’t work for me as a note; it somehow makes me sad, i.e. the opposite of why we generally wear perfume. I might check local perfume stores in case they have the Les Indemodables line.
Christalle makes me sad, almost to the point of tears. I always thought I was crazy ( ier) but now wonder what note it is that triggers that sadness
Oh NOOO! Cristalle Musette. That is a shame.
Sorry to read that AnnieA,
Amazing what triggers our emotions. We are complicated beasts.

Les Indemodables is a no for me. Their perfumes that I’ve tried have great openings and within a minute or two start flattening out and getting duller and duller and within 15 minutes are basically gone. It was such a shame.
BUMMER Maya,
Quite a few of the Tom Fords collapse on me in 20 minutes too.

Well I completely understand why you laughed, Portia, cause this sounds hilarious! Loved your description of the burnt bakery smells. What a wild scent. Might be fun to wear while skiing or hiking early in the morning…on your way to breakfast! 😀
Heya DinaC,
Well, we can be sure that I’ll never be doing wither of those things but yes, I can imagine Immortelle Solaire working for those situations.
I’d like to wear it a little bit dressed up and wandering our beautiful city in the cool of early winter.

Immortelle does nothing for me other than make me crave a dirty curry house madras. Saying that, Les Indemodables rarely put a foot wrong. I own the glorious Cuir de Chine & have lots of samples from Sainteceller.com.
Do you love Immortelle Solaire enough to invest in a bottle if it’s available in Oz or will a decant suffice?
HA! Alityke, you’re hilarious. Everything makes me want a curry, yum.
So, I’ve just found out they ARE available in Australia and yes, I’m very tempted. I’ve just splurged on a Guerlain but next time there are funds available it is sitting quite high on the list.

Les Indemodables (at least some of them) can be gotten here from the lovely online perfumery Sainte Cellier. I’ve sampled one from the line, a leather, which was very nice.
Will def put this on the list for next time I buy samples. Love me some immortelle.
Heya Cinnamon,
I think Sainte Cellier are the crew that have the NVC collection too, yeah?
I’m also in the LOVE immortelle crew.

Great write-up, Portia. This one wasn’t for me. Immortelle isn’t my favourite note. I like the brand, though. I like their two colognes (vetiver and ambergris) the most. The good news is (bad news for your wallet), they can be found in Australia at NOAH. noah.com.au. They’re a barber shop with stores in Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra, but they’ve got a great selection of fragrance brands. You’ll find the likes of Nicolai, Tauer, ELDO, Hiram Green, and Les Indemodables. Not sure if you’ll find the perfumes in store, but they’re certainly online.
Heya Daniel,
I loved Men’s Biz and didn’t realize they’d changed to NOAH. Thanks for the heads up. I’ve got a Melbourne trip booked soon and might go check their store there. I think it’s bigger than our Sydney one.
