Awesome Andy Tauer Advent Giveaway

Andy's TreeFor those of you in the know, Andy Tauer’s been busy doing his annual Advent Calendar Giveaway on his blog – each day he’s giving away samples of “Eau d´épices” (“experimental, fresh from the lab”) – plus maybe something else (teaser set, bottles, etc.) depending.  It’s also fun to look at the traffic feeds on the right.

Today, Friday the 18th, the Posse is honored to host a giveaway here, which is simple: leave a comment below.  Every comment that shows up here before midnight tonight, Friday the 18th, will be eligible for a special draw, directly from Andy Tauer:

“a Thuja root box, with a full bottle of a fragrance from my line, free to choose, value of 130 $US, shipped from Zurich, at no cost to the winner.”  So, folks, you get to choose the fragrance.

Seriously, how great is that?  Here is a picture of the box I grabbed off his site, aren’t they gorgeous? (see below right)Thuja box

Okay, so for the giveaway post today I was invited to blog on any topic, and I think the topic is clear – the awesome love we feel for indie perfumer Andy Tauer and his super-cool fragrances and various interesting fragrance experiments (like sending a traveling fragrance around the globe for review.) Also he makes incredible soap, which you didn’t hear from me.  Also his scents make me feel inappropriately cuddly, mushy sentiments toward him, a man I don’t even know, which I won’t be expressing because I don’t want to scare him off.

But you can do it!!!!  He’ll come by and read these comments, sneaky thing that he is.  Let’s share the Andy Tauer lovehere’s your chance to write a comment telling Andy how much one of his scents means to you, a Tauer fragrance memory or moment from your life, which one is your favorite, or whatever. (All comments will be counted in the draw, whether or not you tell an Andy fragrance story.)

Clarifying/reiterating:  I’m not going to be responding to comments.  IF YOU COMMENT BELOW ON THIS POST BEFORE MIDNIGHT, FRIDAY 18 (notice the comments are timed and dated) YOU ARE IN THE DRAW. I WILL USE RANDOM.ORG TO PICK THE NUMBER, AND I’LL ANNOUNCE THE WINNER DEC. 19 and forward that contact info to Andy, so get it right.

Have at it.  Oh, and this is March posting.  I have it set to “guest poster” so the entries don’t flood my inbox!

*****

DEC. 18 UPDATE WITH THE WINNER: CONGRATULATIONS TARA C!!!  I’ve forwarded your contact info to Andy.

  • firedragonfish says:

I hope this gets entered since it’s still 11pm PST in Washington! Maroc is my favorite with L’air a close second!

  • Love the idea–and congratulations for being part of the giveaway! Well, it’s only 11:42 here, but you have a time stamp set to D.C. time. Meanwhile, I can tell it is snowing in D.C. so I am assuming time remains frozen.

  • Eva says:

I have as yet, to enter the magical world of Andy Tauer but Lauren’s comment above, about her experience at the vet with her kitten has really touched me. I see that L’Air du Desert Marocain is a must. Thank you Andy for your generosity.

  • Margot says:

Tauer perfumes are extraordinary. Period. I have three favorites, but every one of his perfumes is distinctive, complex, and memorable. The moment I tried Incense Rose, I was transported.
When I wear it, I am elegant, mysterious, unconventional, unique.
I admit that I do try to sniff my wrists frequently, but it’s not so noticeable when I’m sipping champagne. Andy, thank you!

  • Ian says:

Please enter me in the drawing, I’d love to win my bottle of L’air is getting low !

  • kristine says:

i would love to get my hands on that box (and the ‘fume inside of course :)).

  • Eric says:

Wow, Mr. Tauer sure is generous! It’s so nice to see giveaways like this, especially considering it’s annual. =D

  • Christina says:

A good friend who know I love perfumebut can seldom afford the good stuff told me about your advent calendar. Would you please enter me for the drawing.

  • Marijeanne says:

Everytime I click the date on your Advent Calendar, there’s no telling where it will take me. Surprises are great, and winning would be the biggest surprise of all !

  • Jonny Jujube says:

Another full bottle giveaway! Very exciting… Can’t wait til morning!

  • Lauren says:

When I had to euthanize a brain damaged kitten I’d found, I wore L’Air du Desert Marocain to the vet appointment. Even though it was a heartbreaking experience, the perfume brought me a measure of calm that I wouldn’t have had otherwise. No other perfume I know of can do that.

  • Maha says:

I don’t hope but I will try. Love Andy so much.

  • LuluBuggins says:

I can’t believe I am only now finding out about this contest— Sign me up!! Andy’s perfumes are gorgeous, I would be lucky to win any one of them!!!

  • zeram1 says:

    Andy,

You’ve always been so generous to “the community” of fragrance lovers. I still treasure my Orris!!!

  • 2scents says:

Wow, I wish I could try that Orris! My favorites are Le Maroc at night, in bed, and Desert Marocain when I feel romantic and the heroine of my story. Nothing else smells like the Tauers.

  • mariekel says:

Orris made me rethink everything I thought I liked in a fragrance. Up till then, I thought I liked lighthearted, citrusy, gingery confections, or green, urban sophisticate scents like the Anne Klein Blazer I grew up with.

But Orris was a volte-face: dark, leathery, incense-y, complicated and even a little inaccessible. I was smitten to the extent that my love for Orris developed into a full-blown obsession with getting a bottle. I even wrote to M. Tauer and begged him to reconsider its limited and now defunct status (he sent me a sweet note back but, sadly, declined). I finally scored a bottle on Ebay last Spring, convincing my ever-patient mother to give it to me as a 6-months early birthday gift.

I agree with all those who commented on how Andy Tauer’s perfumes are transporting to other places. Indeed, L’Air du Desert Marocain is like standing before an Arab on a hot dry day, silk scarves fluttering out from the stalls, the breeze warm and smoky. But Orris takes to me places I cannot even see.

  • Louise M says:

Wow! I cant wait to try some of these perfumes! I am just beginning to learn about the great big world out there.

  • smy says:

I love Andy Tauer and the gorgeous perfumes he creates!

  • Gina Thompson says:

Please enter me in the contest; that would be the best Christmas present ever(for me)!

  • rosarita says:

Andy, you must be the most generous perfumer on the planet, and I enjoy your blog especially for your beautiful photos. As to fragrance, L’air du desert marocain is one of my favorite scents of all time; it’s the coriander, I think. I love the way it smells different in varying weather conditions & circumstances. I’ve worked my way through several decants and I’d love to actually own a bottle; thanks for the opportunity! Hugs…

  • Mina J says:

I love Lonestar Memories so much. It’s a perfect name — how did a Swiss perfumer capture the American West so perfectly in a bottle? It’s so warm and sunny and dusty and sweet.

I already own it though, so hopefully if I win the draw I will have to choose something else!

  • Anthony says:

So many comments!!! Well, when I first experienced Incense Extreme, I told my mom, my sister, and everyone at basenotes who’d listen or read, that I felt the fragrance was made for me. I felt it personal, modern, and gray chic in the best way. I felt it encapsulated so many aspects of other favorite incense fragrances all in one amazing scent. So of course I bought it, and have enjoyed it ever since, enjoying many compliments along the way. SO HECK YEAH I want to be entered in the special Posse version of the advent draw!!! L’Air… I’ve got my eye on you!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀
    -Anthony

  • Aimiliona says:

I’d love to try Incense Rose.

  • helene says:

I think my favorite Tauer scent is Incense Rose…but it’s hard to choose between it and une rose chypree. Both are tinged with honeyed light…marvelous.

  • annie says:

8-|Hmmmmm….how can I put this????……I put on the Incense Rose, call my husband,at work to let him know, and he IMMEDIATELY ‘comes home for lunch’…..a very sensuous/wierd/wonderful/funky scent…it’s ME…am crossing my fingers, for a whole bottle….’swoooon’.

  • Mikael says:

What a great prize, please do enter me in the draw!

  • Plumcake says:

Last summer, about 20 minutes before a late afternoon thunderstorm in Austin, Texas. I jump into my long green Cadillac, the top is stuck down and in my haste to beat the storm I break the vial of Lone Star Memories I had in my back pocket. It starts to rain just as I turn off the ranch road that gets me home. By the time I get inside I’m soaked, I peel off my jeans and toss them against the porch rail –they’ll dry faster in the sun once the cloud burst pasts– and smell wonderfully of asphalt and old leather, Texas rain and Lone Star Memories. The Cadillac still occasionally gives off a whiff of LST from her cracked leather seats when the sun comes out after a morning rain and my jeans –a tragic victim of a pomegranate accident– stayed fragrant for month.

  • Janet says:

Andy just seems like a truly nice person. Warm and interesting just like his perfumes.

  • Ghretta Hynd says:

My sister introduced me to Andy’s blog, and I am learning about scent through following her nose. Last year I had the great fortune of winning a bottle of Incense Extreme on my birthday! I have been loving it all year. I would love to try Incense Rose. Thank you Andy, for sharing. Ghretta

  • Nancy says:

Mmmm mmmm! Please enter me in the draw! I would love to win having only enjoyed Vetiver Dance “which my husband dance” away with me too. And the ‘box’ is lovely, simply lovely! Thanks, Nancy

  • pyramus says:

Oh, Lonestar Memories is so so so good. I can imagine it on a woman (because a woman can wear pretty much any scent, just as she can wear pretty much any clothing), but really it smells like a rugged, outdoorsy man. It’s the only full bottle of his that I have (yet).

  • Jessica says:

I love my experience of une rose chyprée, and the more I learn about Andy Tauer the more excited I am to experience more of his fragrances.

  • Gisela says:

Beautiful box, magical scents, terrific guy – thanks!

  • Damian says:

I love all of andy’s creations. Thank god for the generous sample program, as it’s taking a while to afford all of them in FB.
Of all my perfumes, I get by far the most positive comments on the Tauer ones (Except LM- non perfume people don’t seem to get it!!)

  • Wordbird says:

I have a bottle of L’Air du Desert Marocain and it’s just glorious. It may be my first Tauer bottle, but I know it won’t be the last. 🙂

I’ve just packed to go home for the holidays and my little bag of Tauer Samples went straight into my washbag – I suspect I’ll be wearing his Incense Extreme on Xmas day.
Bravo Andy for offering such a generous Advent Calendar! xxxx

  • Kate says:

Curious. Please enter me in drawing.

  • Andreas says:

    *Wants*

  • tania says:

I have some samples from Andy, and the problem I would have would be choosing my favourite! Right now I’m seesawing between Rose Chypre and Incense Extreme.
What I love about Andy’s scents is the clear sense of a time and a place which they bring to the wearer. I can close my eyes, take a breath, and be in another world, feeling the emotions that world brings.
In other words, they are awesome! 😉

  • anatole says:

My fist souvenir of Andy’s perfumes: after sampling reverie, L’air du désert and Lonestar at the scent bar in L.A. I went to the beach for a short bath and then a ride in topanga canion. The dry down of Lonestar on my salty skin moved me so much I was back in childwood, On the verge to remember something fleeting and magic. That was real freedom.

  • Kati says:

i don’t have a story re. these perfumes. but i ordered a teaser set a few weeks back, and fell head over heels! ALL of the tauer scents are spectacular. there’s simply nothing else like that on the market. now wouldn’t it be just wonderful to win a full bottle for xmas, and start a new fragrant love-affair in the new year? 😀

  • PD71842 says:

Andy is a generous man who brings happiness to people all over the world!

  • adriana says:

I have yet to enjoy one of Andy’s perfume but his story has captivated me. That he’s been able to turn his passion into a full-time job is inspiring. Not to mention that each of his posts is a lesson in perfume crafting.

  • MissChris says:

Tauer soap?! Be still my galloping heart.

Several years ago, when Andy was first on the scene, I ordered from the shop in Europe that carries his fragrances. The order never arrived and Andy graciously sent another one at his cost, shipping and all. I adore his fragrance and him.

  • laurengee says:

OoooooH fun- a giveaway! Merry Christmas to all!!!

  • Janice says:

That box is fabulous! And it will be such a tough decision to choose the perfume if I win… I’d love to be entered in the draw.

  • chell says:

Orris is, without a doubt, my most favorite perfume. Andy’s fragrances are not generally love at first whiff for me; it takes time for my nose to evolve enough to appreciate the beauty of them and then they are my favorites -the most complex, and yet the most wearable, or, rather, the ones I want to wear most often. And I love that about them.

  • Julie says:

Omigosh, March is so right, Andy — You don’t know how many of us just adore you! I don’t want to scare you off either, but I feel a ridiculous amount of affection for you 🙂 You are so generous in sharing your enthusiasm for and thoughts about perfume with all of us, and it is such a genuine feeling, it’s just lovely.

Anyhoo, the first time I sniffed Lonestar Memories I realized I really was hooked on this perfume thing! Not just that I couldn’t stop smelling my arm, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I carry a decant on me always, and often I need a spritz before bed just to be calmed and comforted and transported in a way that makes for the happiest end to the day.

  • Mike Perez says:

Perfume Posse and Andy Tauer = a winning combination!

    Pick me, pick me!!

  • christina says:

Incense rose is so beautiful…as are all of Andy’s perfumes

  • dremybluz says:

andy will always be one of our most talented perfumers. his fragrances are always a joy to the heart

  • Pantera Lilly says:

(%)I had the pleasure of meeting Andy when he gave a little talk and showed us his upcoming as well as well as in the making perfumes in Los Angeles at the Scentbar. He is a generous and wonderful individual and I own three of his scents, I was so glad I got to meet him, he is as nice as they come. Please put me in the drawing. Thanks.

  • tmp00 says:

Lonestar Memories was the first one of his I smelled and I was convinced that not only was he American, but that he had to be from the southwest to have gotten the smell to be so true. Imagine my surprise to read he’s Swiss!

  • Veda says:

I have yet to try all of Andy’s scents, but would absolutely adore a full bottle of L’air du Desert Marocain…

  • Gaz says:

I was eating dessert with my Maroccan friend, and guess what I had to think about? :((

That is the role that Tauer plays in my life. 😉

  • Marian de Wilde says:

Andy your fragrances are the best:):):)

    Good luck to you all

    Greetings from the Netherlands:)>-

  • Tara C says:

I feel lucky to have met Andy in person, he is a sweetheart and I dearly love his L’Air du Desert Marocain and Incense Extreme. Thanks for having this great giveaway Andy and PerfumePosse!

  • Monski says:

First, hafta say I swing by Perfume Posse often, though have not yet posted.
    You chaps R witty. I like 🙂

I’ve heard & wondered much about Mr Tauer’s fragrances, though I have not yet been able to try, as I am on an ultra low fragrance budget; craven juice freak that I am 🙁

I will try them one day, one way or another, & I KNOW I will love them.

Mr T strikes me as being what my sister calls a “proper person” – meaning proper not in the sense of straight laced & conventional; Proper in the sense of having decent priorities & caring to do things well & be awake in the world.

Fragrant Christmas love to all X

  • Lisa D says:

Like everyone posting here, I am in love with many of Andy’s scents. L’Air du Desert Marocaine knocked me off my feet the first time I smelled it. It is one of those very special scents that actually transport me, for a brief moment, to another place.

  • anna says:

i never tried Andy Tauer perfumes- so this would be a great way to get introduced to his line 🙂

  • Flor says:

I first heard about Andy Tauer through a perfume blog (don’t remember which) and was instantly hooked on the the comments and praise along. I love his blog and have been reading it for years. I have not had the honor of trying one of his scents and look forward to doing so very, very much. The perfumes of his that I most look forward to trying are Incense Rose, L’Air du desert marocain, Une Rose Chypree and Rêverie au jardin.

  • Stephen says:

Brilliant scents, love Maroc pour Elle and L’Air du Desert Marocaine. Emailing from Ireland, always read the site!! Stephen

  • Kelly says:

I’m pretty sure Andy knows I think he’s a genius. I wonder if he knows how many of us sniff ourselves and moan his name: :d

  • Caroline says:

Andy, this is amazing! I haven’t had a full bottle of your scents yet but I would love to start.

  • Maggie says:

Andys perfumes are what I’ve been waiting for all my life! I always knew I should like perfume but all the conventional ones I smelled just did nothing for me. These are pure magic.
    x Maggie

  • tally says:

I would looove my first full bottle of Andy!!!

  • Lavanya says:

I adore Andy’s perfumes (and him) and was lucky enough to meet him at the scent bar. He is so talented, yet unassuming!.. I love his RdJ- it was his first perfume that I sampled..
I remember sniffing his Incense extreme and thinking it more a summer than a winter fragrance- being as spare as it is and not the typical cuddly ambery wintry incense. BUT, this winter it has been my go-to comfort scent BECAUSE of its austere spare beauty..It doesn’t pamper you or try to make you feel better, it just let’s you be and sometimes that is incredibly comforting.

  • n p says:

Andy Tauer is a scent genius and I love his work (that I’ve tried). Plain and simple. 🙂

  • Heidi says:

I like Incense Rose. It might be because there is something in there that gives me a strong scent memory of late fall when I was a girl (the smoky incense reminds me of the kind we used to burn after a sweat), but I think there’s more to it than that.

When I am naturally drawn to something, I am lost for words as to why. There’s a certain Paul Klee at the Norton Simon museum in Pasadena, California that I love. I don’t really know how to express why. I could say I love Paul Klee because of the strange synesthesia in his color choices. Or that the painting itself is interesting, because it’s uniquely understated for Klee. But neither really verbalize why my heart is in my throat when I see it again across the gallery after being away, why I can’t move on easily after standing in front of it. It has captured some part of my heart, in some natural, mysterious way.

This is how I feel about Tauer’s Incense Rose. Perhaps there are more skilled, more interesting Tauer fragrances. But this is the one that captured me first.

  • James Dotson says:

I wish that Orris was still around!

  • janice says:

I’ve tried and loved Reverie au Jardin and Le Maroc pour Elle, but I would really love to win a bottle of Une Rose Chyprée. Maybe this will be my lucky day, right?

  • Carlos J Powell says:

    Good Luck Everyone

  • Jackie Mason says:

Another day, another try – is it my turn today? Pleaseeeeeeeeeee

  • Kari says:

Oh, this sounds just wonderful! I would love to win a bottle of l’air du desert marocain!

  • NancyN says:

I have a bottle of l’air du desert marocain. My first try from a sample was fine, the next time I applied it more lavishly and 20 minutes later realized I was in heaven. Perfume for the spirit. Lonestar Memories takes me back to the most wonderful summer mornings of my childhood in North Dakota – a lot farther north than the Lonestar state. It is also heaven. Thanks for your artistry and generosity.

  • Glenn Holman says:

L’Air du Desert Marocain would be a wonderful Christmas present – to me!

  • Phuong says:

    Andy I love you!!!!

  • Aparatchick says:

L’air du desert marocain is my one true love. It was my re-introduction to perfume, and I’ll always be grateful to Andy for it. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve converted to The Great Church of Fine Perfume by sticking my L’air-sprayed wrist under their noses and saying “here, smell this!”.

  • Milena says:

I have tried five of Tauer perfumes. All of them are beautiful, but L’air du desert marocain and Incense rose are my favorite.

  • Julie says:

Unfortunately, I have not tried any Tauer scents yet, but they receive so much love on NST and other perfume blogs, I am dying to sample them. This would be a wonderful way to get to try one. Thank you Andy and Perfume Posse for your generosity!

  • Gretchen says:

I’m crossing my fingers. . . and I really need to sample these two scents before the drawing, because I haven’t yet sniffed them! Which one would I pick?

  • Minh Tu says:

What a beautiful box, it’ll be a dream coming true if I win one. Can’t wait to spray L’air du desert marocain. XOXOXOXO

  • Amanda says:

:)Le Maroc pour Elle mmm…so so nice

I haven’t corresponded with Andy, however, he just seems so down to earth, and pleasant genuine human being.

    A truly gifted Alchemist!

  • Katherine says:

I’m a huge Tauer fan, too. Thanks!

  • Chris says:

Like you said March it’s weird how Andy’s perfumes make you feel inappropriately personal things for him. Although the public display of his graciousness and generosity go a long way to creating that feeling to, now that I think about it. 🙂

On the fragrance side though, it was Incense Rose that I smelled first. I liked it and wanted to smell it, but was blinded by the top notes. I thought “nice, interesting…but not for me.” But I just kept smelling it, then i tried it on. With every wearing I discovered something new on my skin and then started wearing it more. That’s how all Andy’s fragrances work on me (though me and Incense Extreme were an instant unabashed match) and they all create a very good, warm feeling that sinks in and leaves you satisfied and craving even more of the smell. If I could find a way to afix a vial of incense rose to my nose at work without freaking out my colleagues, I probably would.

  • J Winters says:

I’ve been trying to enter every day. 😀

  • zeezee says:

Ooh, Andy and the Posse! Deadly combination, indeed.
L’Air du Désert has been on my wishlist forever, and that box is To Die For.
    Prettyprettypleaseplease gods of chance!

  • Pepe Silvia says:

Le Maroc pour elle is my favorite “Femme Fatale” type scents.
    Pure old Hollywood glamour! 😡

  • fleurdelys says:

I always call Andy Tauer the Nicest Man in Perfume. Who else in that world can you think of who is so generous with his products, more than happy to share the love with those who love fragrance? Happy holidays Andy, and may appreciation for your fragrances continue to grow throughout 2010!

  • Monika says:

Wow! Many people here! Seems Andy’s work is getting louder! That’s good. Anyway – wish you great Holiday.

  • 734elizabeths says:

When I first started reading the perfume blogs, I made list of the perfumes people raved about. Tauer perfumes came up again and again, so they were at the top of the list. I couldn’t find them inthe Detroit area, so I sent away for the sample set. What a treasure box! The packaging is fabulous, and the fragrances – each one is lovelier than the last. I’m stuck on L’air du desert marocain right now. Love it. Thanks, Andy.

  • helenviolette says:

I love Andy Tauer! What a great Christmas gift the advent calendar is. I am a big fan of Une Rose Chypre and Incense Rose and would love to try the new experiment 😉

  • Ashwin says:

I have only sampled LADDM but I was enchanted with its dry austerity. Will have to order a decant or 50mL bottle sooner rather than later.

Une Rose Chypree and Vetiver Dance are next on my list of things to sample.

    Happy holidays, Andy!

  • escritora says:

I’ve never had an opportunity to try any of Andy’s scents 🙁 But I hope I’ll have a chance soon. I am incense addicted that’s why Incense Extreme or Incense Rose will be first to sniff, than Vetiver Dance 🙂

  • Anna says:

Hi March, I love reading Perfume Posse daily and being introduced to new and wonderful scents. I love all Andy Tauer fragrances, what a great idea for the very generous giveaways. I was in Essouria in Morocco in June where they make these beautiful boxes, the smell of the wood is so spicy and fragrant. Thanks to all, Anna

  • Samantha says:

Lonestar Memories is gorgeous… I’m a huge Andy Tauer fan and I’d love to be entered.

  • rosiegreen62 says:

I just had the opportunity last week to smell in person Andy’s fragrances and I was blown away. What a great range of fragrances. He is such a creative and generous person.

  • james says:

Hi Andy (and thanks to Perfume Posse for hosting) I’m visiting site my wife more often uses, because she was my gateway drug for Tauer scents; vetiver dance is a great scent. She still has some of your Orris, which is spectacular, and we both love LDDM. James

  • Ms Who says:

My love affair with Tauer perfumes began last year since I won a bottle of Incense Extreme just before Xmas, it was such a lovely and unexpected present. I then bought L’air du désert marocain, which I loved loved loved. I got many compliments, and people where asking what I was wearing all the time.

  • JenniferS says:

I’ve enjoyed reading Andy’s thoughts on his blog about the creative process of making perfume. In a world of mass-produced scents, it’s refreshing to think of a line that is so much a reflection of one person and his approach to the science, art, history, etc. of perfumery. Andy seems like such a generous and creative person.

  • sherobin says:

Wow. What a beautiful box, and what an unbelievably great giveaway! Unfortunately, I have yet to sniff any of his fragrances, but have been anxious to try Lonestar Memories for a very long time. Maybe this excitement will push me over the edge to order a sample…or several…Please include me in the draw.

  • Tara says:

I adore Lonestar Memories. It is truly wondefrul and Andy is a gem. Please enter me in the drawing.

  • Jemimagold says:

Reverie Au Jardin was my very first Andy Tauer fragrance and I remember being amazed at its beauty and how it glided so easily through the notes. Gorgeous! Happy holidays, Andy!!

  • birdwingwhir says:

Many thanks to you, Andy, for your extreme generosity and your wonderful perfumes! L’air du désert marocain is one of my all time favorites. Happy holidays to all.

  • barbara says:

This would be my first Tauer-Incense extreme, desert marocain or Incense rose sound lovely…add me to the the draw- Thanks Andy

  • janh says:

Incense rose got my husband to wear scent!

  • CagneyFan says:

I am late to this party but have to enter this contest.

Andy is not only a super nice person, he’s also an extremely gifted perfumer.

Even if I don’t win, and I probably won’t, let me take this opportunity to wish him and all of Perfume Posse’s readers the best of holiday seasons!

  • gautami says:

Andy is a generous soul. Count me in please.

  • Alex says:

Still at it…. I would love to win Incense Rose, it’s gorgeous!

  • Merlijn says:

Andy, you’re great! L’air du désert marocain is a great niche and your new Une Rose Chyprée is an instant classic with a great Tauer base! Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the drawing chance! I love Tauer Perfumes! Andy is so kind, generous, and funny – and a true artist! He helps keep the spirit and magic of art & fragrance alive! I adore L’Air du Desert Marocain, which is the first Tauer I ever smelled. It is just so amazing! And my next fav is Le Maroc pour Elle – it is just so rich and beautiful, and my husband loves it too which makes it extra special. If I am so lucky to win this drawing, that is what I want in that gorgeous Thuja box. Fingers crossed! Happy Holidays everyone & may all have many good smelling fragrances under the tree!

  • Bunny says:

Le Maroc Pour Elle is a wonderful scent and even keeps me from feeling motion sick! Now that’s a ringing endorsement! lol Andy is such a generous man with all these giveaways!

  • Robert L says:

Thanks for the contest! Andy’s perfumes are my favourites.

  • Ceil says:

L’air du desert marocain is liquid art. One of my favorite scents that never fails to envelop me in positive emotions.

  • Kirsten says:

    Hi Andy & the Posse,

My favourite of Andy’s perfumes (so far) is L’air du désert Marocain, and my favourite unsniffed purchase yet-to-come is Orange Star.

Finally snowing here in Scotland, soooo Christmassy!

    Love,
    K

  • you smell!!! says:

Thanks for entering my name, this look great!!!

  • Jirish says:

Not a clunker among his work, and I adore several of his scents, from Lonestar Memories, to L’air, to Incense Rose, and my latest must-have, Un Rose Chypree. Must get to sampling Reverie and Incense Intense, the only two I haven’t tried yet.

  • Nina Z. says:

To me, the most inspiring thing about Andy Tauer is the passion with which he pursues his calling! I’m in the middle of writing my first novel, and as a keep slogging through it on a daily basis, the thought of people like him who give up their secure jobs to pursue their dreams (and hearing the details of his daily work on his blog) helps keep me going.

  • Jennifer says:

Fell in love with incense rose this summer after receiving a sample. I couldn’t wait to try it. I thought that it would be too much in the summer heat, but it was perfect.

  • Rictor says:

i would love to have a bottle of something. if i win, it will be hard to decide which.

  • Parfymerad says:

Earlier this year I got the wonderful sample set from Andy’s site: liked all of them, the quality has to be sniffed to be believed…so rich yet not at all overdone.

My favourite turned out to be the lovely Maroc Pour Elle, seconded by Une Rose Chypree: really surprising, since I don’t like any other rose scents! Please sign up for the wonderful box draw!

  • Marsi says:

Dang, that is crazy-good. Me, I love L’air du désert marocain. Sign me up for the contest, please!

  • Cheryl says:

    Andy…Love…Uniquely Beautiful Scent…Andy…Bliss…Generosity…Andy…
    Heart…Authenticity…

If fortune smiles on me today, my choice would be either
L’air du Désert Marocain, or Une Rose Chypree.

  • Theresa says:

I’ve only had the pleasure of sniffing a couple of Andy’s perfumes, though several more have been calling my name. It’s so great of him to have this monthly contest to introduce more people to his frags. Would love to be entered in the draw!

  • Rappleyea says:

After reading all of these beautiful comments, I’m jealous that I don’t have a relationship with this gorgeous man! Not one email exchange!! Seems I need to rectify this as well as sampling more of his work. I’ve only recently received a sample of Une Rose Chypree from a generous friend and it is beautiful indeed, but seems Mr. Tauer’s perfumes only reflect the beauty within his own soul. What a wonderful message at this time of the year.

  • Cheryl says:

He does soap?! Wow. Am big soap freak.
I love his perfumes in that they seem to be real elixirs of favourite materials. Not big ol chemical approximations. I love their presence on the skin.

  • Sharon says:

Hello to Andy and everyone! I would love to win and it seems that ALL of the perfumes are amazing and wonderful! His perfumes seem so much more interesting than the ones you smell in the department store.

  • Lisa says:

Love his blog, love his perfumes. I only have samples so far but I adore them — need to buy full bottles (actually, have my fingers crossed for a bottle of Une Rose Chypree for Christmas).

  • Nancy says:

Mr. Tauer’s fragrances have elusive quality of all great perfumes; the power to evoke memory and create mood.

  • SusieQ says:

I am a newbie perfumista with a long list to sample. Une Rose Chypree is on the list – can’t wait to try it.

  • Sonia says:

I hope this is the day I win… That box looks beautiful. Thanks Andy

  • hotlanta linda says:

🙂 My favourite `thing` about Andy is his very kind spirit and his always on the mark sense of humor – and these make for creations that are vessels for the heart!:d/

  • Shelley says:

Some of Andy’s scents I adore and covet, some I can’t wrap my arms around but still find beautiful–I have admired them all. Reverie au Jardin was (and is) one of my Great Trio that sealed my fate as Captured by the Perfume Siren.

The box is gorgeous. The giveaway fabulously generous. Please, as they say, hat me. 🙂

  • SarahDances says:

I think Lonestar Memories is pretty fantastic, as I myself love smelling/seeing/reading things that remind me of my past travels.

  • janjan says:

    Please pick meeee!

  • nikkou says:

    can..not… re..sist..

  • Dana says:

From everything I’ve read, I know I would love his scents. Must order samples after this hectic time of year, unless I win something in a draw. Wink, wink!

  • T-Rex says:

Oh, I want this so bad!!!!

  • Catherine says:

I love Andy and I love the Posse–so a combination in heaven. Enter me in the draw!

The holiday season is rushing by–just a week until Christmas. It’s so hard to believe… Bisous to all.

  • rockrose says:

I gave my husband Lonestar Memories maybe a year ago. We need to replenish it. He enjoys this one, mentioned that he likes to smell it on himself off and on during the day. I don’t think he realized you could do that! I like the Incence Rose and Rose Chypree the best. I love the L’du desert Marocain but it’s too strong on me. Andy’s blog is wonderful, I love to tune into Switzerland such a welcome relief from the heat here in Florida!

  • Gilty says:

L’Air du Desert is a modern masterpiece. I don’t ever want to be without it. And I am nearing the end of my Une Rose Chypree sample… *weeps*

  • Jared says:

Hey enter me in that draw! I have just been thinking lately how much I want a bottle of L’Air du Desert Marocain. I tried it last year around Christmas time and it made such a powerful impression that the smell of the fragrance is like liquid winter and Christmas. I feel like three wise men crossing the desert when I wear it, and all of the imagery of celestial-focused magi swirls in me! Love it.

  • WB Vermette says:

My favorite memory was receiving my fragrance samples from Andy; the cards they were on were beautiful as well as the handwritten post-card; best of all was the surprise sample of Une Rose Chypree- I had coveted the sample during last year’s Advent Calendar, so imagine my delight at finally receiving it! *beams*

  • Lynne1962 says:

I have ordered samples and L’Air from his site. They come with his signature note!! How cool is that! Love his creations. L’Air is my fave! Une Rose is a close second. They are all expertly made and have an “edge” I love in my scents! Longue vie a Andy!

  • kathleen says:

That Andy, such a generous boy! Une Rose Chypree, is my favorite. But then, I do luv L’air du Desert Marocain. And, of course I couldn’t omit the wonderful Reverie au Jardin. But wait! How could I possibly forget Vetiver Dance? How’s a girl to choose, I ask you…

  • Dagney says:

I have never smelled any of the Tauer perfumes and it’s killing me to read all of these great reviews. The frag that I would choose if my name is drawn? L’Air du Desert Marocain. Thank you.

  • Roberto says:

This is an awesome prize, thanks Andy, and I’ll pick L’Air if I win.

  • Lauren says:

If I win, I’m picking Incense Rose. It’d delicious, that’s all.

  • mals86 says:

Une Rose Chypree is just gorgeous – a Serious Perfume that smells just this side of vintage, all weighty and beautiful.

  • Daseined says:

L’air du désert marocain was my gateway Tauer, as it was for many others. I grew up in a desert and there was something so comfortable and warm and *right* about it that it was odd to think it had come from someone else. Une rose chyprée is a quiet beauty that never fails to garner compliments. Andy’s blog is a joy to read, intelligent, illuminating reflections on perfumery and the act of creating by a true (and modest) artist. His line is what I think we all want niche perfumery to be: well-crafted, distinctive fragrances with no lurid ad copy or absurd marketing schemes. We’re fortunate to have Mr. Tauer working now and the interwebs to Mae his works available to us.

And those boxes are drool-inducing! Maybe today will be my lucky day

  • Anne says:

My first experience with Andy was through his L’air du désert marocain and I’ve never smelled anything like it. It makes a statement yet it is so well crafted. He’s truly a great “nose” and a really nice guy too as evidenced by his yearly giveaway.

  • Fernando says:

A sample set from Andy was one of my first ventures to the land of samples… and, of course, a full bottle of L’Air du Desert was ordered soon after. It’s amazing stuff. Then, when Rose Chypreé came out, we fell in love all over again: it’s my wife’s favorite, the perfume she uses when she needs to impress. (It never fails to get compliments!)

I ordered one of these boxes (with Le Maroc) for my mother’s Christmas present. The box is simply amazing, and Andy packs them well for the overseas trip. My wife took one look at it and said “if your mother does anything to suggest she didn’t appreciate it, I’m stealing it for myself!”

Finally, note that Andy just recently decided to dedicate himself to perfume full-time. So buy the FBs, and he’ll continue surprising and delighting us.

  • Ines says:

This is a truly generous giveaway Andy is hosting. And however much I consider which bottle of his creations I would like to have I can never decide on just one. 🙂 My favorites L’Air du desert Marocain, Reverie au Jardin and Lonestar Memories.

  • Maria says:

As I come from an eastern european country, Incense might be to much church like to me and usualy it is. But I love Incense Extreme. Most of Tauer’s perfumes have some incense but Incense Extreme comes so pure and so much, making the flowers in it so big and strong, too, that I’m crazy about it.
Of corse, L’Air du Desert is something for the girl in me, going for the lavish warm days of fall.

  • Graham says:

l’Air du Desert was also my first Tauer experience…. Absolutely stunning! Still debating a FB purchase…..

  • Jill (rockinruby) says:

Oooooh, how I LOVE L’air du Desert Marocain! Each of Andy’s creations have been unique, balanced, and beautiful, but L’air is the one that sings for me. Wonderful of him to do this giveaway — he’s always so very generous!

  • nicolibba says:

I’ve only tried Reverie au jardin (it’s great) but do plan on trying all the others.
Many thanks to the Posse and Andy Tauer for your blogs and this great opportunity!

  • Lindsey9107 says:

Ohh, this is the *best* giveaway!!

My first niche perfume love, which started all this, was Le Maroc Pour Elle. That fragrance is just so right in every way to me. I love Andy Tauer.

    Lindsey

  • raluca says:

How I would wish to win! That would make a perfect gift, Reverie au jardin.

  • moongrrl says:

Yay! I’d sure like a full bottle of one of Andy’s creations, especially in that lovely box.

  • Teger says:

Love Andy, but he seriously needs to bring Orris back! Hah, like that’ll ever happen :((

  • juergen says:

    Hi Andy,
    thank you!
    ciao
    jj:d

  • Natalie says:

Oooh, Andy Tauer and Perfume Posse — these are a few of my fa-vo-rite things! Thanks for hosting, and thanks to Andy for his talent and unfailing graciousness…

  • Heather Barton says:

Sadly L’air du désert marocain is the only Tauer fragrance I’ve tried, but I love it. It is the ultimate desert scent. I love to wear it and a little diluted cinnamon oil every time I reread my beloved “Dune” novels and I feel transported to that wonderful desert planet Arrakis.

  • Olfacta says:

L’air du Desert Marocain was the first full bottle of niche fragrance I ever bought. It’s still first-spray for friends curious about my scent obsession. They enter skeptical and leave understanding. I’ve sampled them all. “This,” I tell people, “is what modern perfumery could be.”

  • I love Andy Tauer’s perfumes, but even more than that, I really admire how he approaches his brand. Everything (from his replies to ppl’s questions on his blog, to the traveling perfume) really exemplifies that he’s a man who loves perfume. I don’t really feel that way about many noses. I think quite a few are out for the $$ alone.

  • dleep says:

He is a genius perfumer and a very nice and generous person. I love Le Maroc Pour Elle and Incense Rose. Always wanted to try Lonestar Memories but haven’t gotten around to it. Thank you.

  • Ivona says:

Last year I was so lucky to win a Tauer sample set. This resulted in my mom smelling Incense Rosé on me and falling completely in love with it. I bought her a bottle for Mothers’ Day and she has been wearing it almost exclusively ever since! (and Andy was right, a bottle of this stuff goes a looong way)

I have still not decided on my personal favourite, but I definately wouldn’t mind a bottle of L’Air du Désert Marocain, Le Maroc Pour Elle or Réverie au Jardin.

Thanks again for this wonderful initiative, Andy!

  • richardf59 says:

L’air du déser marocain is a marvellous perfume.. and I want to try Incense extrême because I’m a fan of the incense fragrance.. il est pour moi… :-))))

  • Heliamphora says:

He is obviously one of the most generous perfumers out there as this Advent Giveaway shows!

  • boojum says:

Flooded indeed, and who can blame us? I have only tried 3 of his scents so far: the gorgeous URC, the much-loved l’Air, and my personal fave, the softest treatment of lavender I’ve smelled to date, Reverie au Jardin. The love he has for what he does comes through not only in the beauty and quality of his fragrances, but in his attention to all the details (including those gorgeous boxes!) as well.

  • Connie says:

I’m very late to the party (as usual) and only got to sniff L’air not too long ago from my order with TPC. I would love to be entered in the drawing. Thanks, Andy!

  • sybil says:

‘K, what’s not to love about Andy Tauer? He has tremendous integrity, he’s an independent, he (by all accounts) is a great guy who makes some amazing juice. I remember smelling Rose d’maroc early on in my perfume sniffery–it was rich, complex, baroque and amazingly delicious compared to the department store (yeah, Tresor and Hypnose, I’m talking about you!) stuff.

The world needs more true individuals like Andy, who are willing to follow their passion.

  • Antje says:

Love Andy’s L’Air, not only on myself but also on my other half:) Merry Christmas to everyone.

  • mim says:

L’air du désert marocain was the first of his that I smelled– I bought a sample because I couldn’t resist the description. It was *love*! It was warm and golden and gave me this sense of dry open space and felt almost sacred.
Between a teeny budget and feeling perfumed-out I have not bought a FB yet (made a rule for myself after a couple impulse buys that I would use up a large sample/small decant before buying any full size) but it’s at the top of my list!
I also like le maroc pour elle, which is weird since it has jasmine, which usually turns on me. But this one works! and I went in on a split of incense extreme which smells exactly like this resin incense I have, only stonger. Strong in a good way, and very green.
And, thanks to the calendar, I got to sample two more! They are both *lovely* and generous–just like Andy!

  • london says:

I love Andy – Une Rose Chypree especially. Please enter me in the draw.

  • Julie Ellen says:

Andy’s advent calendar is a perfect representation of him–kind, generous, talented. At this time of year, hundreds of people log onto his website, but I have enjoyed the fewer “regulars” who are on his blog all year long. Andy’s personal insight and humor make it a welcome part of any day.

Oh, and his perfume is pretty terrifc, too ! Can’t pick a favorite, I love them all.

  • Mark E says:

Those boxes look amazing – count me in!

  • Leah M says:

I don’t know what timezone you are in, so I can’t say that my comment is posted before midnight, but it is definately before midnight here in Aus.

  • Abyss says:

I haven’t tried any of Andy’s frags yet but they get so much love from the perfumistas that they are at the top of my To Try list. Every single one sounds gorgeous.

  • Andrea says:

Andy’s scents just make me feel there is someone out there in sync with all of IT and when I smell his fragrances I experience just plain, lasting, almost transcendental serenity. It is joyful to witness perfection.
    Andrea

  • sae says:

    hello =:)
this box from morocco always makes me smile. so beautiful shiny and gorgeous…i love his perfumes really, today, im wearing desert marocain. and all day ive been happy with it.

  • Momlady says:

Advent give-away? I had no idea. Brilliant idea and a nice tribute to the season.

  • vicuna1 says:

I have been admiring those boxes for some time! I have Maroc Pour Elle and each wearing reveals a different facet of just one drop of this wonderful work of art. I would be honored to be included in your draw. Thank you!

  • Erin T says:

Andy, we love you! I will take Lonestar Memories if I am lucky.

  • Courtney says:

Andy is very talented and generous- and what a great opportunity to win something fabulous!

  • Millicent says:

My favorite is Incense Rose, followed closely by L’Air du Desert Marocain. Both are gorgeous, and I can’t wait to try more. Maybe today will be my lucky day??

  • KathyT says:

Reverie au Jardin made me love lavender again. It is such a bold statement, and it is superior quality in my opinion. Thank you Andy for your generosity with the Advent giveaway!

  • Catherine says:

My cousin is passionate about perfume and regularly produces a variety of sample perfume bottles for anyone and everyone around to try! She is always eager to know what people think and what the smell conjures up for them. She has recommended Andy’s perfumes so I’m intrigued to learn more after reading all these wonderful compliments!

  • Elemi says:

Outstanding quality ingredients in high concentration. Excellent and unique compositions. Very fair prices and no stupid marketing blurbs. Thats Tauer.

  • Alatariel says:

Andy’s Advent calander is just getting better and better! I’m wearing a little bit of my sample of Incense Extreme today, as it seems to go well with the snow (!!) we’ve just had here in England!

  • Christine L. says:

I am completely unfamiliar with Andy Tauer’s line…..but LOVE learning from my PerfumePosse. Winning this would be such a lovely Christmas Present to myself. (I’m feeling deserving since I’ve been uncharacteristically good at denying myself all of my wants while shopping for others this year!!!)

  • Elen says:

Heute trage ich Incense Rose. Ist grossartig! Hält warm bei der Kälte -10 grad.Und gestern war Une Rose Chypree. Und vorgestern auch Andy Tauer, und vor ein Monat, und vor ein Jahr…
    Danke Andy!!!:”>

  • Eline Kreuse says:

please Santa let me win this time

  • Till says:

    I agree with AromaX.
By the way, my Tauer- Favourite is “Une Rose Chyprée” – I often put it on before I go to bed, to get off the dust of a long day. I love to smell the warm patchouli-timbre, when it is still on my hand the next morning : )

  • Karla says:

L’Air du Desert Marocain is one of my favorite fragrances ever. I have a decant and if I won’t win 😉 , I’m going to buy a full bottle. Incense Rosé is also wonderful.

  • Wayne says:

Like just about everyone else it was L’Air that did it for me. I bought it blind based on its reputation and have never looked back. It’s the most sublime and intoxicating scent in my ever-growing collection of over 100 fragrances. Thanks, Andy, for your intelligence, your humanity, your humour, your patience, your incredible skill as a perfumer. Why can’t everybody be like you!

  • sol says:

I should perhaps not write anything here, since I very luckily have won a teaser set in his calendar. It arrived yesterday together with a very beautiful xmas card with his personal greating. I was so delighted! He´s such a pleasant man 🙂 Have read so much positive about his scents, and yesterday was the first time that I tried one of them: une rose chryprée. And what a scent! I love its unusual spiciness and chypre character! it is weird in a very fascinating way. perhaps this would be the one I would have liked in full bottle..

  • JAntoinette says:

You gotta love Andy for everything that he isn’t – closed, esoteric, nose in the air “artiste”, and you gotta love him for everything that he is – an open, generous, accessible (not to mention terribly talented) artist. Thanks for the holiday cheer!

  • Gosia says:

Well, it’s always a surprise where the link in Andy’s advent calendar directs me. Do I have to say how much fun this is, win or no win? As to my favoutite , it’s Incense Rosé. Have a nice day, everyone :*

  • JY says:

The only Tauer I’ve experienced so far is L’air du désert marocain, which I blind bought along with other decants. It didn’t strike me as particularily out of this world at the time, and similar sentiments like Chergui took over later on in my perfumed life. In memory of this, I should give L’Air a full wearing again today.

  • waftbycarol says:

That is an absolutely gorgeous box . I haunt Andy’s blog and often comment there . I too would love to meet that elf of a man . It will be hard to choose which fragrance !!
Thank you , thank you Andy for being one of Santa;s elves . It can be a thankless job .

  • Adjoa says:

I adore Andy Tauer for two reasons. One: he is a great artist and two: he is a great artist who also believes in educating his most appreciating public about his art. Wonderful. Oh, and he also know that accessibility does not in any way diminish his art, work and vision.

Well, what else can I say. I gave Le Maroc por Elle to my mother for her 70th birthday. As an only child, I can’t go wrong with anything that I do for my mother! But my mother declared that I am the best child in all of the universe for introducing her to Andy Tauer. My own favorite is L’air du Desert Marocain.

Another nose, and I forget whom, commenting on the IFRA restrictions said that the future of perfumery is not in the past. I agree. There are great changes ahead but also great opportunities. I look forward to more creations from Andy Tauer and as a “perfumista” grateful that I get to witness the enfolding genius and work of this wonderful artist.

  • Mark Garvey says:

My partner just LUVS Andy Tauer’s scents!! :d

  • Fabrice says:

I received a teaser set not so long ago and was very happy to finally be able to sample Andy’s creations. My favorites at the moment are L’Air du Désert Marocain and Une Rose Chyprée. Good luck to everybody for the draw!

  • Ulla says:

Andy’s advent calendar is simply amazing, and this wonderful box is, too. I would love to win it even without the fragrance. But together with one of his wonderful scents… I cross my fingers!

  • chrissyinoz says:

i received, 2 weeks ago, andy’s sample set & a full bottle of vetiver dance. Took the sample set to work ( i’m an RN work in a post anaesthetic recovery unit) & had SO many comments & compliments about une rose. I’ve directed a number of ppl to andy’s website so here’s to spreading the word of andy’s fab creations.

  • Thea says:

I have unfortunately never sampled an Andy Tauer scent but I yearn to. I have heard rave reviews of L’Air du Désert Marocain on numerous websites and I know many people regard it as precious. Lonestar Memories totally calls to me…. I must sample them soon! or maybe I’ll get lucky and win something for once. *crosses fingers*

  • Diane says:

I posted a story a few days ago in response to Andy’s question about bunnies. Not only did Andy read the comments, he emailed me to say he enjoyed my story. I think this demonstrates what a nice person he really is. I have samples of Une Rose Chypree, Incense Rose and Reverie au Jardin. It would be really hard to choose my favorite! If I win, I surely would have a lot of fun figuring out which fragrance to choose. Thank you again for your generosity, Andy.

  • Ann says:

I’m another person who profoundly loves L’Air du Désert Marocain. Smelling it for the first time was like coming home to a favorite place that I hadn’t been able to find for years and years.

  • Rachael says:

I enjoy all of Andy’s fragrances, and I have tried them all. But my favourite of all is Reverie au Jardin. It was the first that i tried, and I found it the most evocative. It reminded of a forest in Narnia, green and misty. The herbaceousness has a fuzzy, electrical buzz to it, it is alive and dances on my skin and in the air around me. I have had the pleasure of a brief email exchange with Andy when i purchased samples from him, and I found him to be gracious, kind and his enthusiasm and love for fragrance is infectious. It’s wonderful to experience his perfumes directly from the bottles inw hcih he has hand-mixed them all himself. A lot of great cooks say that their love and passion can be tasted in their food – an I think the same is true for Andy’s fragrances.

    • allabouteve says:

Ohhh, thank you for loving my favorite too! 🙂 It’s so hard to find someone who really prefers this one over the others!! Yeah..it’s fuzzy and electrical, that’s true!!

  • Sundance J. Smooth says:

I sampled his L’air du desert marocain based on rave reviews on basenotes and immediately fell in love with it. His advent calendar is awesome!

  • Louise says:

    Dear Guest Poster-

I am a huge fan of Andy (so sweet and talented) and his perfumes-favorites are L’ADM (hmmm-that’ll be my SOTD) and Incense Rose-the first is always wonderful, and amazingly changeable according to season; the Incense is a lovely blend of deep resin and woods, with a citrusy rose note that plays well all day.

Toss me in the draw bowl, doll.

Will Kai the wonderdog be choosing?

    Happy Weekend, all <:-p

  • Maryla says:

L’Air du Desert Marocain is my Tauer’s favorite. Vetiver dance is also beautiful. And Incense rosé. Well, all of his creations are just magnificent. Thank you Andy.

  • Deanna G. says:

I’ve never tried a Tauer fragrance before but I want to! Count me in 🙂

  • Tama says:

Andy is one of the nicest, most giving, most inventive and talented people on the planet. That his perfumes are also incredible is just the icing on the cake.

    Tama

  • Camilla says:

I love AT fragrances, my favorites cry depending on mood and occasion… But Ihave a soft spot for the Rose Chyprée, Incense extreme and vetiver dance. Oh, and I’m wearing lAddm today!!! I needed something warm and cuddly – weather forecast: first big snow in Milan this evening!

  • AromaX says:

Nice topic of the day. Why do we love Andy? Probably because he is a nice, kind and friendly person who is making fabulous perfumes? Yes, I guess it is…

  • solocha says:

I can’t wait till I win. If I do, it will be my first niche scent.

  • jan V says:

😡 L’air du désert marocain is the most amazing, addictive scent I’ve experienced. I do find all Andy’s creations really wonderful, especially the nuances that linger for hours and hours, long after the initial thrill of it all. Still, his desert is where I’m most happy, always.

I also admire Andy for his creative passion and generosity!

  • Amy K says:

What a generous gift! I think Le Maroc pour Elle and L’Air du Desert Marocain are two of the best fragrances I’ve ever smelled, and I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.

  • Lys says:

Andy’s Advent Calender is always great fun in the cold, stressful month of December! I adore the Incense Rose!

  • JenM says:

There is no doubt that Andy is a special man–very talented and so very generous with both his time and his gorgeous creations. I cannot live without his Maroc our elle….Holiday hugs from the tropics and as Silvia says above, thank you for being just the way you are, Andy!

    • allabouteve says:

      Hi Jen!

  • Vincent says:

I wanna thank Andy a thousand times for creating marvelous scents such as L’air du desert Marocain. This is the scent that drawed me into the niche world. Thank you!!!!

  • Iryna says:

L’Air du Desert Marocain is my favourite perfume by Andy Tauer. When I wear LDDM I find myself entranced by the place it conjures in my mind, and this is reflected in a calm satisfaction as I go about my day

  • Jeff says:

    oh yes, I’m playing too!

  • Annelie says:

My personal favourite is L’Air du Desert Marocain, but since it is Christmas time I wish for a bottle of Lonestar memories, since it is one of my husbnad favourite perfumes. And those boxes looks just amazing!

  • Christine says:

I have only recently discovered Andy Tauer’s perfumes and am sniffing my way through samples of Une rose chypree, l’air du desert marocain and incense rose. At the moment with frost and cold and wet dank weather incense rose is providing warmth, comfort and sunshine.

  • Marcin says:

Well I’ve got a full bottle of the INCENSE EXTREME. It’s the most beautiful incensey frag I’ve ever tried. I really adore it. Seven weeks ago my live has changed. I’ve been converted to Catholic faith. I’ve recovered my relationship with God which has been making miracles in my life since that day. Once a week I go to church to pray and praise him. And Incense Extreme has become my church fragrance 🙂 It fits great and I love it. It gives me piece and let’s me focus inside. It’s a piece of art perfumery. Andy is a real magician. I know all his works and they are all outstanding!
    Take care!

  • emma says:

Andy Tauer is a magician of scent. His perfumes can take you places, real or not, in a way that no other can.
L’air du désert marocain takes me back to the streets of India in the early morning, when it’s still pitch black, small fires burning on the side of the road, the woodsmoke mixing with the sweet smell of incense and that of petrol. For my husband, L’air smells exactly like the woodmarket in Nairobi which he used to visit as a child.
Also Maroc pour elle takes me to India but an India in my mind, not a specific place. Both these two make me feel relaxed and puts a smile on my lips as my mind travels to places I’ve visited or places I’ve yet to visit. The feeling I get is that of adventure mixed with the comfort of childhood, who but a magician could conjure up all that with a scent?

Besides all that, Andy seems like a really nice person 😉

  • Suzanne says:

It’s so cold outside today, that I keep dreaming of the summer, and me wearing Reverie au jardin (the perfect “scenttrack” for the summer, I think).

  • Maha says:

Oh, gorgeous! Please enter me in the draw! I’m desperate for this prize.

  • Sharon2 says:

Like many of the previous posters, I love L’air du désert marocain. It was one of the first niche scents that I sniffed and it’s one of the fragrances that got me hooked on perfume.
I’d like to be entered in the draw.

  • Jess says:

I’ve yet to experience one of Andy’s perfumes! I’ve been lurking about his website trying to decide which to sample. When I discovered the Advent Calendar, I decided to hold out (for a few weeks) in case I got lucky.

Everything I’ve heard about Andy’s perfumes convince me they will be worth the wait. If my number doesn’t come up, I will be ordering samples of Reverie, Vetiver, and probably Lonestar as soon as the holidays are over.

  • Thomas says:

I would love to win a bottle of L’air du Desert Marocain, I have a much cherished sample which is disapearing much to quickly for my liking!

  • AVH1010 says:

Though I have not met or corresponded with Andy, I can get the feel for what kind of person he is through his creations. His blog also lets his personality shine through. Of course, his generosity is shown fully at this time of year when he makes 24 people very happy!!!

  • ellie says:

What an utterly fabulous christmas idea!!
Ive only had a couple of sprays of 2 Tauer perfumes (thanks to a very kind friend) so it would be awesome to get a bottle she hasnt tried & return the favour.

  • Julia says:

All I can say is: Andy, PLEASE bring Orris back in production! Even though I enjoy your other perfumes Orris holds a special piece of my heart

  • Viveka says:

My first encounter with the Tauer line was when, as a budding parfumista, I started to read perfume-blogs on a regular basis. My only aquaintance with niche perfume at that time was Editions de Parfum and I was intrigued by all the enthusiastic comments about L’Air du desert marocain that I read on the blogs. I ordered a sample and was blown away – It is still one of the most beautiful scents I have ever tried, and one of my favourites from the Tauer line – rivaled only by Reverie au Jardin. I can’t say which of the two I prefer – they are both amazing, and suitable for different moods, so I guess it depends on the day!

  • Erica says:

I love Andy’s fragrances! The first one I tested was Incense Extreme, and I was hooked! I have a decant of L’Air du Desert Marocain, and am determined to get a tester set before too much longer because I simply must try them all.

I love reading Andy’s blog, he’s so down to earth and charming and very funny!

  • Annalena says:

I LOVED advent calendars as a kid. Chocolate evryday, mmmmmm :-). But a perfume every day…. even better! Especially in that wonderful box!

  • Robin R. says:

Thanks to a wonderful Swiss woman (Andy must certainly know her, as she is the unofficial Ambassador of Tauer Perfumes) I had the chance a couple of years ago to smell every single one of his fragrances, and I fell head over heels with them.

Then, when I emailed Andy to express my love for his scents, he was so darn sweet and personable and genuine and one-of-a-kind, I fell in love with the man himself. (Andy, if you are reading this, let’s get married. You’ll love Vancouver — and I could love Switzerland, I am sure!! It would be a beautiful friendship. . .)

Of all his creations, the one closest to my heart and my chemistry is Une Rose Chypree. I wear it and feel as though Andy made it just for me: it has that kind of “perfect fit” feeling I’ve never experienced before. I wrote him to tell him so, and he emailed me back so nicely — something about ME making that fragrance come alive rather than the fragrance having that magical ability. See? How could you NOT love a man who would be that kind, sensitive and romantic? And he’s equally wonderful to everyone. I have no idea how he manages to answer his mail so thoughtfully and still have time to make fragrance or even sleep.

Nobody making fragrance today inspires the same kind of respect and loyalty that Andy does, because of this personal touch and genuine caring of his.

    — Just another adoring fan. Glad to be part of the draw, and thanks.

  • Masha says:

    Hi, Andy!
We’re freezing here in the German Alps, you too?? I hope it warms up a little next week! Have a really creative holiday, I know you’ll be cooking up great new ideas in your lab.
    Best,
    Masha

    • Masha says:

Oh, wait, I won yesterday, I’m so happy! So I am just here to say hello, not to be entered in the drawing.

  • Miosava says:

Andy is a great artist and a very optimistic, generous person. The idea for advent calendar is amazing!

  • Alica says:

I have all Andy’s scents samples and would not mind to own a full bottle of any!

  • Karystiana says:

I appreciate Andy’s talent for making amazingly beautiful perfumes! L’air du Désert Marocain would be my choice if I were blessed with winning on this day!

  • Eric says:

    Generous, kind, and lovely!
    The perfumes and Andy…

  • Justin says:

My favorite Tauer moment would be when I first opened my box of samples from Andy and smelled Vetiver Dance for the first time.

  • Mary says:

I recently discovered Rose chypre and just love it. It’s so beautiful, and you can tell it’s made with love. How wonderful that Andy has brought us the advent calendar this year.

  • Klara says:

I have only tried two Tauers – Reverie au Jardin and Le Maroc pour Elle. I love Le Maroc pour Elle, because I wore it when me and my boyfriend were in Tunis- and it’s a gorgeous jasmine scent so I guess it was perfect for Tunis.

  • hongkongmom says:

oh my, reading the above i feel totally unqualified to say anything…so, the little i know of you, you are generous, sensitive and artistic…a combination which makes for a good human being…that being said, and now to separate matters totally,
i would love to win one of your fragrances..probably the rose chypre!!!
18 for us is the number of life.its a good number. have a productive day and lets hear only good news:)

  • Julie says:

WooHoo, another chance at that gorgeous box, filled with some fabulous Tauer scent, but which one to choose?! May everyone’s holidays be deliciously scented…

  • Helge says:

I’ve never tried any Tauers, but I would really like to see what the fuzz is about 🙂
And L’air du Desert Marocain has been on my to try list for ages!

  • KimB says:

🙂 Officially waiting for my Tauer teaser sample set. Yippee!

  • Musette says:

What a lovely gesture! I have only tried two Tauers: Vetiver Dance which I quite and Rose Chypree which I also like. I am intrigued by all the love for both Lonestar Memories and L’air du Desert Marocain. mostly I’m just delighted that he is so dedicated to making lovely, quality fragrances – and with a day job, too! A whole lotta energy there!

    Happy Hollerdays!

    xo >-)

  • Furriner says:

I have yet to try any Tauer scents…. but I really want to!!

  • Fiona says:

I got my samples sent all the way to NZ – seemed no trouble at all. Envious workmates keep asking me “is that another one of those Swiss scents”! I have used up Une Rose Chypree and L’air and almost a few others.Delicious. I’d love a special box of one here in the Souther Hemisphere!
Love your website also – it’s my relaxation indulgence to read it. Thank you

  • Jenny S says:

Wow! Tauer Fragrances are amazing. My favorite is L’Air du Desert Marocain, which always reminds me of childhood trips to the Arizona desert, trail riding to see the big horn sheep and glorious mountains.

  • Chris G says:

OOOOOO, I can’t believe the generosity of Andy!!! I have a full bottle of Vetiver Dance and spray samples of many others. I admire everything about his line…the juice, the presentation, and the fact that he does it all himself! Pure genius (and I’m not exaggerating).

  • Ann N. says:

Ah, the accidental joy of Andy Tauer. I happened upon L’air du désert marocain quite by chance. I had ordered some decant supplies from an eBay seller and when I opened her envelope, out wafted the most magnetic, mesmerizing, just-shy-of-mystical scent I have ever experienced. Each time I passed that envelope, I was enchanted again and again. Finally, I e-mailed her in desperation, begging her to please tell me what was that hypnotic, addictive scent. So now, I’ve just dipped my toes in the water, so to speak, with a small spray decant, but am considering making the plunge, as this beauty is surely full-bottle worthy. Thank you, Mr. Tauer!!

  • Denise says:

L’Air du Desert Marocain would be my choice, if I were lucky enough to win. It’s coming with me to that desert island, along with SDV, Teint de Neige, Parfum Sacre, amd Diam Blond.

  • Blake says:

All my life I have been (somewhat embarrassingly) drawn to rose perfumes. but Une Rose Chyprée has made me unashamed to like them. 🙂 Andy is a genius and key to my slow educational process about what perfume can be.

  • Kathryn says:

In a time when most perfumes are made by committee (chemists, perfumers, creative directors, marketers, etc.) and one often smells much like another, Andy’s wonderful, individually hand crafted perfumes are like nothing else. My current favorite is the many layered, intoxicating Une Rose Chypree. I am really looking forward to his new Orange Star and L’Eau Epices.

  • CynthiaW says:

I don’t know if I should thank Andy or curse him – L’air du désert marocain was the scent that opened me up to niche and Une Rose Chyrpee set me off on a huge exploring and buying spree. I’ll go with thanking him because my world is a richer place due to his artistry.

  • Antje says:

Reverie au Jardin is one of my favorite summer scents – I would love a full bottle in the georgeous box!

  • monkeytoe says:

L’air du desert marocain is one of my desert island fragrances. Right up there with Mitsouko, Bandit and Bois des Iles. If I get shipwerecked with a second steamer trunk it will have a bottle of Incense rose.

  • chasa says:

Andy and his fragrances are truly unique and wonderful. I ordered a sample set of Tauer fragrances, which I would highly recommend to anyone — his sample sizes are generous and he included a lovely card, a very personal touch that made me feel valued. It’s hard to choose an absolute favorite, but I adore both Incense Rose and L’Air (and Une Rose Chypree is right up as well). And EVERY time I see that gorgeous Thuja root box, I nearly melt away from the gorgeousness!

  • sweetlife says:

Hooray for Andy, who seems so totally joyous about what he does and lets us all in on that joy with his goofy, open, detailed blog posts. Hooray for Andy for making beautiful art just because you think you can and want to. Hooray for helping that art to find its appreciative audience by understanding how to open oneself to a community. Hooray for well-deserved success!

    Yay!

  • dissed says:

I love the idea of Andy Tauer, making beautiful, strange and unusual scents while he cheerfully thumbs his nose at the Big Guys. Marocain is fascinating, but I can’t wear it. I should try the rose scents, especially the last ones; I’ve craved roses for awhile and would like one that doesn’t smell like candy. I would like to find another favorite to sit beside Ormonde Woman.

  • ScentRed says:

I’m not as familiar with the Tauer creations as I’d like to be. I’m dying to try Une rose chypree, it sounds quite magical.

  • Francesca says:

l’air du desert marocain seemed perfect for today, which was glacially cold, and I had an appointment with my incredibly cute, sweet and very talented physical therapist.

I also love Une Rose Chyprée. Andy Tauer’s scents are so warm and unusual. They feel like they raise your IQ by 30 points.

  • tammy says:

L’air du désert marocain is my favorite of his; I followed a stranger down the street to find out what he was wearing!

But I love the man even more than his perfumes….class act, all the way. The world need smore folks like him.

  • carter says:

    Oooh la la! Santandy! 😡

  • Philip Faustin says:

Some months ago I ordered a set of samples of Andy Tauer’s scents. I had smelled L’air and loved it and soon a bottle was mine. The next scent that captured me was Incense Rose. If I were to win, that would be one I would choose.

  • minette says:

well i love that he blogs so openly and eloquently about the perfume-making process, and even though his lonestar memories takes me back to an apartment fire in which two kids died mixed with Myrugia’s Maja, i totally respect what he does. i think i really need to sniff his latest two rose scents. i have a feeling i’d really dig at least one of them. maybe some day. the boxes for these are lovely, btw.

  • Sue says:

I’ve been looking forward to Andy’s Advent Calendar since last year. His clever posts have taught me about Christmas and perfumery and his generosity is simply unmatched!

Cheers and many thanks to Andy (and Perfume Posse for hosting)! :d

  • ï¼onica says:

Vetiver Dance… Incense extreme…L’air du désert marocain… Lonestar Memories… PLUS a sense of humor what’s not to like about Andy?

  • Neens says:

I keep my bottle of Lonestar Memories in my nightstand so that at any given moment I can give myself a sprritz and go to my happy place!!!

  • Brian says:

L’air du désert marocain is the first “niche” fragrance I ever spent money on. It’s amazing.

The box is cool and the chance to get a bottle of something awesome (i.e. Lonestar Memories would be nice…) would be great but really I just want a sample of eau d’epices 😉

  • Elizabeth says:

Andy’s L’air du désert marocain was my gateway fragrance about 1.5 years ago. I had never smelled anything like it up until that point (and really, not since). I had Stella, Lovely, the usual suspects, but *this* stuff knocked me down. It (along with a bottle of Passage d’Enfer, I remember the day well) was my first purchase as a newbie perfumista. I still love it dearly, and although I no longer wear it every day, it holds a special place in my heart. I still think it’s one of the most beautiful fragrances ever created. 😡

  • DianaWR says:

I LOVE Andy and his brilliant perfumes. I was actually demonstrating today what amazing quality scents he makes. I sampled L’air du désert marocain on one hand and a…very popular dept. store scent on the other, and had my friend sniffing at my hands over the course of 6 hours to show her how complex and finely made Tauer perfumes are.

She’s buying a bottle for her mom. I feel very accomplished.
