SOTD 31.7.2020

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else SOTD choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and Perfume Posse people love to chat. We like to keep it fragrant but there’s always room for life events and adventures too. This is our place to share how we smell, live, love, eat, work, raise kids and pets and get on with the business of living.

Perfume Posse SOTD

SOTD 31.7.2020

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz. Whenever you feel the mood take you, share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at Perfume Posse, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your SOTD comment. Then you can reply to them, and so on.

Go To It Crew.

This morning I wore Tea for Two by L’Artisan. It will always remind be of the amazing day we spent in Beauty Habit LA on the ScentSation Bus Tour in 2013. Those girls were so much fun to hang out with.
Has anyone else been to the Beauty Habit warehouse?

Wearing BPAL’s Jareth today. I’m a huge fan of the movie Labyrinth with the amazing David Bowie so had to hunt down a sample and now I need a bottle. Notes are: lilac fougere, leather with ti leaf, tonka absolute, white musk, and oudh. And yes, it’s as wonderful as those notes sound. Kinda want to bath in it today.

  • Brigitte says:

Tropical storm hit the Northeast and my state really hard…no power, no internet, no cellular, no work today ( which means no pay!!! Waaaa!!!). But I smell great in Black Flower Mexican Vanilla on my wrists…four sprays each wrist and three sprays each behind ears of vintage Vanille Abricot which has aged beautiful and packs a punch.

  • Portia says:

Narciso Rodriguez for Her EdT on my chest, Gucci Guilty Absolute on my arms.
Fragrant! Like wearing Turkish Delight and a woodpile.

  • Melanie says:

Bond No9 Washington Square for me today. A lovely musky, ambery scent. I might even be able to pick out the honey that’s supposed to be in here. It’s a quite comforting scent.

    • Portia says:

      YAY Melanie!
Would you normally be able to pick out the honey or is this a revelation?
      Portia x

      • Melanie says:

I think my hot flushes during the day is bringing out the honey ? sometimes I also get a caramel vibe

    • Brigitte says:

I never tried this one but I love the park, love the bottle and ALWAYS think of you when I see it mentioned ( that, and Midnight Fleur)

  • Carolyn says:

Wearing Guerlain’s Voyage New York to bed tonight. I had forgotten that I had a decant of this. Such a lovely light scent. Perfect for summer.

    • Portia says:

That Voyage collection was magic Carolyn. They only registered on me after they became DCd and got a little of Moscow.
      You smell amazing.
      Portia xx

      • Carolyn says:

I think Voyage New York may be the only one I bought a decant of. Wish I had tried it sooner and bought a bottle before it was DC’d. Story of my life…always late to the party.

  • Melanie says:

Joop Le Bain for me today. I just get vanilla and powder. Just a nice, clean scent. Did wonder if it would make a good base to add something like Montale Honey Oud or ELDO Rien over the top – something to try later.

  • Brigitte says:

I am realizing that Emeraude has a sexy musky drydown that is really scratching the musk itch. I just missed a 25 percent off Joel’s sale but just as well for I started reading reviews and folks are complaining about the Musk’s reformulation.

    • Brigitte says:

      Joel???? I typed in Kiele!!!!!!

      • Brigitte says:

        Oh
        My
        God

        KIEHL

        • Portia says:

Auto Correct gets you again Brigitte.
Is there somewhere nearby you can go sniff it? If they are buying new after having their bottle for a few years it’s going to smell MUCH cleaner and less murky than an old bottle. That could also be a part of their problem. Go try for yourself.
          Portia xx

          • Brigitte says:

Ah yes!! Now that makes sense!! I will try to find a place to sample when things return to normal and then wait for another sale. Great tip, P!! Meanwhile, I will enjoy my Emeraude.

  • Portia says:

Gucci Bloom: Acqua di Fiori. Salty and buttered tuberose with some delightfully high pitched sweet fruity greenery. Strange and lovely. Thank everything it smells good, I bought it for the bottle and packaging off a friends Sale Doc on FB.
    Portia xx

    • Carolyn says:

Is that the scent that has the AMAZING video with Florence and the Machine and Angelica Huston?

  • Brigitte says:

    Vintage Emeraude PdT…. again…

  • Carolyn C. says:

I just finished the tiny bit of L’Instant de Guerlain Extreme from a very leaky decant. I’ve heard the newer version pales in comparison so sad to see this one go.

  • Brigitte says:

Vintage 1960s Emeraude PdT. A full bottle gift from the beautiful Kathleen. We’re it not for APJ I never would have met her.
This bottle is in a box of precious bottles that I don’t plan on thunking any time soon.

  • Portia says:

CHANEL 1957. I really like to wear this fragrance even though it’s the kind of thing I usually sneer at. It’s super more-ish and comfortable in it’s soft focus floral aldehyde laundry muskiness. 1957 feels like the end game of functional fragrance in fine fragrance.
    Portia xx

    • Brigitte says:

Now I want to wear it too!!!!

    • Brigitte says:

And you know, P, I really do need a good musk in my collection but something that’s quite cheap due to budget constraints. Any recommendations from my perfume pals here?

      • Portia says:

MUSK! Yeah, I love Kiehl’s Original Musk. It smells WAY better than it costs and I get a thrill every time I wear it. It’s a bit more caramel than laundry and has some lovely funk.
        Portia xx

        • Brigitte says:

OMG!! I wore that one decades ago!! I will put that on the top of my musk list. I remember loving it back in the day.

        • Carolyn says:

Now I want to pull out my bottle of Coty’s Wild Musk and pretend I’m a teenager again for an afternoon.

  • SonomaVelvet says:

If you asked me today what my number 1 fav all time perfume love was I would say Serge Lutens Un Lys. Love love love love. Wearing it today and exulting in it’s cool Lily glory.

  • Brigitte says:

Zoe, by Fresh Scents by Terri ( currently known as Kyse Perfumes). I was craving a simple clean musk today for my walk. Post shower will switch it up. I also found Cremo body wash in Bourbon and Oak at a supermarket yesterday and am eager to try it in my shower. Anyone know anything about this brand? The wash smells amazing. I think it’s marketed towards men but I don’t care LOL 🙂

    • SonomaVelvet says:

I haven’t heard of it Brigitte, but the number of perfume lines I’ve never heard of astonishes me. Every day I read what some of you guys are wearing and just shake my head, so many I’ve never even heard of let alone smelled.

    • Brigitte says:

Because there are so many now, right? It’s mind boggling!

  • Brigitte says:

Quick question, P….where can you buy heavily discounted fragrances online in Oz? And does fragrancenet still ship to Australia for a reasonable shipping fee? I am asking for a friend. Thanks, love.

    • Portia says:

      Heya Brigitte,
I often buy through FragranceNet. The shipping is expensive for one bottle but very reasonable over 3 or 4.
In Australia we have a few that I trust. PriceLine, Chemist Warehouse and Price Right Mart are good discounters.
      I hope that helps.

  • SonomaVelvet says:

I wanted something sharp to cut through muggy heat, and was too lazy to go upstairs to look through my perfumes. Low and behold there was some Kai sitting on the table in front of me so Kai it is. I think this is supposed to be gardenia but it doesn’t smell like gardenia at all to me, it actually reminds me more of Annick Goutal’s le Chevrefueille honeysuckle.

  • Eldarwen22 says:

Spent my morning in no 22 edt, then Kyoto for work. Now I am home and starting my 9 day vacation. Finished up my little chore list and now I can relax and pick out what I will wear tonight.

  • Amy says:

Waving hello Portia! Wearing Tokyo Bloom to stave off our ridiculous heat.

    • Portia says:

      Hiya Amy!
Tokyo Bloom by The Different Company is freaking AWESOME!
I have a bottle here too and love it.
      Portia xx

  • Portia says:

For bed it’s a Brigitte amount of Ormonde Woman because Pam made me do it.
    SOO GOOD!
    Portia xx

  • MMKinPA says:

Paris-Deauville, my most worn this summer.

    • Portia says:

VERY nice MMKinPA, Did you happen to also splurge on the shower gel and lotion? SO luxurious.
      Portia xx

      • Brigitte says:

Kathleen gifted me the shower gel and hair wash for my birthday. I love it as a shampoo and it lingers in my hair. Halfway through and middle Marzipan stole it LOL. I am seriously considering getting her the EDT for her birthday but do we really need ANOTHER bottle in this house?????

  • Teresa says:

I’m trying out my sample of Mad et Len Petits Papiers. Notes of paper, wood and resins. I’m waiting for the dry down to decide if I like it. First take: balsamic woods.

    • Portia says:

      Hi Teresa,
Mad et Len do such beautifully poised and imaginative perfumes. I’ve not even heard of this one. Sounds beautiful.
      Portia xx

  • AnnieA says:

Bulgari blue tea on one arm and a spritz of Meteorites on the other.

  • SamanthaL says:

Iris Pallida over here…it smells cool and purple, which is much needed where I am since it’s in the high 90’s today!

    • Portia says:

OOOOH! That’s the Aedes de Venustas right SamanthaL? I remember it coming out, sampling and WANTING a bottle. I think it might even still be on my Want List.
      You smell awesome.
      Portia xx

  • Queen-Cupcake says:

Kenzo Unidentified Fragrance Object. I just really liked the name, LOL. At first application (spray), I think: “oh, no! too much like an aftershave–ew!” In a few minutes the floral notes come through and I am transfixed. Can’t stop huffing my wrist. Happy Friday, all.

  • Dina C. says:

I’m wearing Guerlain AA Rosa Pop today. It’s such a cheerful, happy scent of roses and berries. I need it because it’s a rainy, cloudy day.

  • Pam says:

I just received a sample Ormonde Jayne Woman and I can’t stop smelling myself.

  • Portia says:

Was wearing this this morning and have just refreshed for night.
Vintage Vol de Nuit extrait from the cigarette lighter case. SO glam and gorgeous.
    Perfect winter wear.
    Portia x

    • Dina C. says:

You smell great, too, Portia! I had a sample of this years ago and drained it dry. Amazing stuff. Wanted to tell you that I loved your trivia quiz during the Zoom chat on the Arielle Shoshana perfume zoom chat last Friday. So fun!! 🙂

      • Portia says:

        Hey DinaC,
        Thanks. On both counts.
How fun is Arielle Shoshana’s idea of fragrant ZOOM meetings? They are such an excellent way to get some fragrant life into lockdown. She is a really clever egg. I’m so happy her business is successful.
        Portia xx

  • Brigitte says:

Oops!! Forgot to post my SOTD! LOL!! Lashings of Reglisse Noire.

  • Brigitte says:

Friday! Woo hoo! And first comment!!
