SOTD 4.12.2020

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else SOTD choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and Perfume Posse people love to chat. We like to keep it fragrant but there’s always room for life events and adventures too. This is our place to share how we smell, live, love, eat, work, raise kids and pets and get on with the business of living.

Perfume Posse SOTD

SOTD 4.12.2020

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz. Whenever you feel the mood take you, share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at Perfume Posse, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your SOTD comment. Then you can reply to them, and so on.

Go To It Crew.

Ormonde Jayne Elixir. I prefer this to Ormonde Woman, it has a creamier and more luxurious feel.

  • Portia says:

Tonight for bed I’m dosed heavily in Gucci Bloom Acqua di Fiori.
    MMMMMMM

  • Neva says:

Fragonard’s Santal for my home-office. It’s kind of not satisfying today, I’ll have to switch to something that will lift my mood. I guess it’ll be Diptyques Eau Capitale 🙂

  • Cassieflower says:

    Tauer Rose Flash. Mmmmm

    • Neva says:

I have the feeling I’d like this Tauer after reading all the reviews. I still haven’t found a Tauer I like so far…ok I’ve only tried a few. Which ones are your favourites?

      • Cassieflower says:

Almost like asking which is my favourite child. Yikes. This one is right at the top of the heap, and sometimes battles furiously with Orange Star. But I can honestly say that I have never tried a Tauer that I didn’t like.

        • Neva says:

Maybe I’ve tried the wrong ones? Noontide Petals, Zeta and Carillon pour un Ange all developed a strange gasoline note that was suffocating me, Le Maroc pour Elle was too sweet and heavy for me.

  • Neva says:

Testing Perdizione from Nobile 1942 today. I get mostly lavender and vanilla and white flowers, none of them my favourites but in the end the composition is interesting, sweet but edgy.

Way back in May 2013 we had the ScentSation Bus Tour in LA. I bought a bottle of I Profumo di Firenze: Dolce Patchouli. Wearing it today has brought back all the fun and madness of that day with the Perfume Posse peeps.
    We had a freaking ball.
    Happy, happy memory scent.

Having a few cooler days here so its Fall, by Criminal Elements for me today. So good. Its like a mix of some of my other favs. It’s spicy, and warm but some sweetness (like a cola?) Cinnamon, amber and birch.
    Love it!

  • Neva says:

Amouage Imitation Woman for me today. It’s a rather modern perfume bringing to mind a sportive independant woman living in a big city.

  • Melanie says:

Zoologist Camel for me today. I got hold of a sample of Bee – what a super little scent. I will need to get another to wear in earnest but from my sample so far its pretty special. Very different to what i expected but could pick out smoke and wax. I was saving up for T-Rex but Bee is pushing for that spot.

    • Neva says:

Ooohhh, Camel…I forgot that I have a decant of it. Gotta pull it out. Bee is nice but too sticky sweet for my taste. I’m very curious about T-Rex though.

      • Melanie says:

Hey Neva, T-Rex is, as you would expect BIG.
I get a dry, spicy incense. Would need to wear again to get you better description – its quite unique.

    • Brigitte says:

      I vote for Bee!!!!!

      • Melanie says:

Hello Brigitte, Bee is pretty special. I have just enough left of this first sample for another wear. I’m very intrigued by it x

  • Portia says:

    Hey Crew,
    Sorry I’ve been MIA.
Wearing loads of frags but way too lazy/busy to get them down here.
Today I’m in Guerlain Shalimar EdC. It’s beautiful on this not too warm summer day lazing around the house with Jin before getting ready for work.

Warm and cosy in E Coudray Ambre et Vanille.

    Greetings!
I wanted to share a fun “blind buy” I made recently. It’s Peau de Soie by Starck Paris. From what I can find, it seems that Phillipe Starck is a renowned designer (furniture, industrial design, lighting, vehicles, etc) who commissioned perfumes to be made.
I was intrigued by the notion and by the fact that Dominique Ropion is the “nose”. This review on Colognoisseur.com is a wonderful description…”Peau de Soie translates as “silk skin”. The brief M. Starck gave M. Ropion was to wrap a traditional masculine with a feminine covering. It is a fabulous combination of musk and wood to represent that male component which is where Peau de Soie opens. Then M. Ropion wraps it in a powdery iris while simultaneously piecing it with a greenish vector to allow the musk and wood the chance to peek out….”

Cold, damp, and grey in Montreal, Quebec today. Warming things up with HdP’s Ambre 14.

  • SpringPansy says:

I’m in Ava Luxe Madeline with some DSH Coffee Absolute a little ways up my arm for National Cookie Day (in the U.S.). I smell very cozy and holiday-ish. TGIF. I’ve got lots of work today, but the weekend is coming.

  • matty1649 says:

Not perfume as such, but Al Rehab Moroccan Rose on one arm…..Fantastic on the other. Both in the oil rollerball

  • Musette says:

hey, snookums! so. it’s a typical Midwestern late autumn day … coldAF, sun shining, etc – couldn’t figure out what to wear. Waffled between Arpege, Diaghliev (the last of a decant, alas) and… Cartier Baiser Vole Lys Rose.

    Settled on Donna Karan Gold.

  • Dina C. says:

Wearing PG Iris Oriental 14 today. I have to wait until it’s chilly for this one because it’s pretty powerful on my skin. Used just a micro spray.

  • Brigitte says:

Au Couer du Desert all month long.

  • Cinnamon says:

Le Parfum de Therese. Just because 🙂

  • Cassieflower says:

    Vanilla Flash, all day long.

  • Neva says:

Getting ready for a weekend in a hut in the mountains with my girlfriends. I hope there will be snow to make the picture complete. Wearing Feminite du Bois for this occasion, the SL version.

    • Musette says:

when you say ‘hut’…. what does that mean? Is there indoor plumbing? Heat? Electricity? I cannot imagine you willingly going to stay in an actual hut (or what I envision a hut to be, which is … I dunno… a dirt floor (or maybe just bare wood) and a flimsy roof. A door, if you’re lucky….

      xoxoxo

      • Musette says:

but… no matter the environs… you smell fabulous! xoxo

      • Neva says:

LOL Musette, it was rather nice wooden house although we had only one fireplace in the living room and we had to make sure to keep the fire burning. The insulation was poor, of course. The internet didn’t function and the neighbor’s dogs were watching over us because we were feeding them all the time 🙂

I’m wearing Areej le Dore Plumeria de Orris, and it’s heavenly, not overly oudy and no “skank” (or maybe I’m just happily inured to skank); it’s a heady sweet apricot floral with presence as well as a powder bomb from the orris root, but incredibly smooth. Like waves, it keeps building. Love it! I’m heading off to musky -woody island dreams with the sweetness of plumeria.
