SOTD 25.12.2020

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else SOTD choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and Perfume Posse people love to chat. We like to keep it fragrant but there’s always room for life events and adventures too. This is our place to share how we smell, live, love, eat, work, raise kids and pets and get on with the business of living.

Perfume Posse SOTD

SOTD 25.12.2020

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz. Whenever you feel the mood take you, share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at Perfume Posse, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your SOTD comment. Then you can reply to them, and so on.

Go To It Crew.

Penhaligon Ostara – named for the pagan goddess of dawn and spring – rebirth. I love this image for the new year, especially this one.

  • Marzipan says:

    Vintage LHeure Bleue
    Happy New Year

  • Maya says:

A Blvd Called Sunset – decided to try it again. I like the opening and the middle until it becomes too leathery for me. It has some decent sillage and lasts for quite a while. I think it’s well made. It’s just not for me.

  • Shelley Bershof says:

It’s a few days later but I’ve been wearing Traversee au Bosphore, not quite sure why? Maybe it’s the shadow of vanilla apparent here and there, now and then . . .

  • Neva says:

Again an earthquake here that woke us from sleep early in the morning. PTSP in progress 🙁
I couldn’t focus my thoughts through the day and I didn’t wear perfume until the evening – Nishane’s Wulong Cha. I hope it will be a quiet night…

    Le Lion

  • NancyC says:

Jasmin Antique, from Rogue. Big, indolic soliflore that is so not me. But it’s gorgeous.

    • Neva says:

Rogue have such extraordinary perfumes. A true tribute to the eighties style.

      • NancyC says:

Yes! I’m so glad Manuel Cross is out there, doing what he does, and I’m glad I can help him in some small way. I tried Ishtar, and it reminded me a lot of the original Polo. My dad wore it. Wonderful stuff!

  • Kathleen says:

Frederic Malle Une Rose. This may be the most amazing rose perfume I’ve ever experienced, and it’s longevity on my skin is amazing!

  • Chez Marzipan says:

    Le Lion

  • Today I wore my almost signature scent L’ Air de Rien. Must buy a backup bottle soon.

  • Eldarwen22 says:

Wore Lyric yesterday and this morning. Since I’ve showered, I switched over to Miss Dior original. Need a little extra boost for work today.

  • Chez Marzipan says:

Eau de Private Collection. Estee Lauder reformulated the original and it’s lighter and more floral.
I dream of one day finding a bottle of the pure perfume of vintage Private Collection for five dollars. A girl can dream.

  • Pam says:

This morning it was Nuit de Noel. Tonight it’s Narcisse Noir. Must be a Caron Christmas.

  • Maya says:

PdN Juste un Reve. It was a last minute decision and a good one.

  • Maggiecat says:

My son gifted me a discovery set of Maison Margiela Replica scents. So far I’m in love with Lazy Sunday Morning, liking Whispers in the Library, and found By the Fireplace to be too heavy on cloves. Recommendation s from this lune? I already love Under the Lemon Trees for warm weather.

  • Musette says:

Dia! Woke up thinking of Gaia, thought I’d wear it in her memory. Happy Holidays, everyone! xoxoxo

    • NancyC says:

I loved her blog. I’m slowly working my way through it, from the first post. I never met her, but feel a loss, somehow.

  • Dina C. says:

Wearing VC&A Bois d’Iris today. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays posse perfumistas and perfumistos!

  • matty1649 says:

    Lipstick Rose.

  • Brigitte says:

Vintage Private Collection which was a Christmas staple for me about 45 years ago.

    • Tanja says:

I have a mini from a collectors box from the nineties, that i got from a patient. Sometimes I wear a drop. It’s great.

      • Chez Marzipan says:

Yes I could definitely see you wearing this one and smelling great!! I’ve been eyeballing the mini perfumes on eBay.

    • Kathleen says:

Lovely Brigitte! And I am thrilled to know what it smells like thanks to you! xx

    • Neva says:

Private Collection used to be my Mum’s perfume for some time. It will always have a special place in my heart. I’ve bought a bottle on ebay a few years ago but the top notes are completely gone 🙁

      • Marzipan says:

This is the downside of vintage, Neva. Having worn Private Collection eons ago I remember the top notes too. Unfortunately top notes have a short shelf life.

  • Cinnamon says:

Etat Libre Spice Must Flow. And a load of appropriately seasonal candles. Happy Hols everyone.

  • Georgina says:

Today it’s vintage Balmain Jolie Madame. It’s the perfect scent for being generous (the plummy violets) and maintaining boundaries (the leather) – an important combination on Christmas day with the family!
