Nothing serious – but all I can do is sleep! (I did go to the gym because A Day that ends in Y) but it was a pathetic workout – and I just realized that whatever it is, it’s got me in its Sleeptastic claws.
I was going to write about Iris perfumes but … sleep.
I will say that I am in love with Delrae Roth’s Mythique, which I always forget is iris and am always charmed by it when I come across it in the Messy Armoire. And this is the perfect time for it – blustery, chilly, sunny-then-cloudy.
So. Please forgive me – all I can do is try to get to the sofa to take a nap (and what is it about sofas for naps? Bed is about 20 ft away and way more comfortable. But that sofa is calling my name!)
I’m not a guy and this ick isn’t viral – but it depicts my current mindset, go figure
. I’ll be back next time and I’ll talk more intelligently about my Iris perfume collection, what’s working…. and what’s changed. In the meantime… do you have feelings for Iris? What are your favorites? Which ones do you loathe?

Feel better soon! I’ve always adored DelRae Roth’s perfumes and want her to restart her business simply so I can buy a trillion bottles of Amoureuse. I’ve enjoyed Iris perfumes but it is not a note I’ve explored.

L’Iris is gorgeous. I try it every time it’s around but I’m worried it will get ignored like the rest of the iris perfumes.

SL Iris Silver Mist is horrifying. Possible more repugnant than EldO SM. Only my opinion of course, but to me ISM smells of deathly cold earth, like being buried alive. Pete Bog the mummified body found in a peat bog in Ireland must smell like ISM.
Les Abstraits Belle Ame is the opposite to ISM. She’s warm & cozy like a hug from a bosomy grandma before being served a cardamom cocoa drink. Currently, in my top 5 fragrances.
That’s funny- I like it for the reasons you find it horrifying. ELdO SM is in a different world for me, but I don’t like aquatics much and the overdose of iodine and skank in SM is just too much for me.
Of course having typed that I don’t reach for ISM often.
I don’t actually like SM, just it scares me much less than ISM
You really got me laughing! alityke, you have a marvelous way with words. I agree with * deathly cold earth* but it doesn’t remind me of poor old Pete. It’s more Dracula, mesmerizing and eerie! And great for All Hallow’s Eve – ancient Celtic Samhain.

I laughed out loud and nodded in agreement when I read your assessment of SL Iris Silver Mist. I bought it blind when it first came out and loathed it. Of course, for me, all the SL line has a musk component that positively reeks on me so the entire collection is unwearable. No one every talks about Hermes Hiris when discussing the iris note. I liked it when I started wearing it such a long time ago, but grew tired of the poor longevity and ‘carrot-iness’ of it.
LOVE iris Musette, I have a few niche iris’ around here but the best ever for me was L’Occitane Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc. Long DCd.
Because I miss it so much the others barely get a spritz.

I’m sorry you’re feeling sleepy and under the weather. I totally agree that iris is perfect for this season. It’s a favorite note, so my collection is iris heavy. Here are some favorites: 28 La Pausa, Van Cleef & Arpels Bois d’Iris, Prada Infusion d’Iris, all the versions of No 19 but especially edp, Donna Karan Iris, Crabtree & Evelyn Iris, Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile, Mademoiselle Guerlain, SL Iris Silver Mist, SL Bas de Soie, SL Clair de Musc, AG Huere Exquise, Penhaligons Iris Prima, Le Labo Iris 39, and PG Iris Oriental. I just love the powdery, dry, sweetness of Iris. And sometimes, like in LL39, it’s carrot-y and earthy. To me, Iris is never cloying or too heady.
