Heya Posse, Vaninger. Every time I briefly look at the name you KNOW what I read right? HA HA HA HA! Now I have no idea what one of those smells like but I reckon all the stupid misogynist jokes about them must be wrong or there’d be no population, don’t you think? Vaninger on the other hand I know very well. It ended up being one of the four fragrances that made it shipboard with me on the South Pacific Cruise, which was fricken ripper BTW. Out of the ten nights we were gone Vaninger got three full days of wear.
Vaninger by Oliver Valverde for Oliver & Co
Oliver & Co gives these featured accords:
Ambrosian, benzoin, fresh ginger, ginger co2 extract, hedione, heliotrope, kumquat, lemon, timbersilk, tolu balsam, turmeric, vanilla absolute, white musks
The opening is citrus and ginger with an array of extras that I can’t pick. Pretty soon the vanilla and resins come join the sizzle and while Vaninger does ebb and flow through its lifespan the ride is not jumpy or bumpy. It’s as smooth as amber glass pebbles you might find on the beach. You’d think with all the notes that it would be extremely warm as a scent but no, cool. Cool but cosy. It should be a gourmand and it skirts the genre but remaining as cool and dry as it does keeps it out of the pantry.
Vaninger works in the outdoor heat of the tropics and the icy cool of air-conditioning and was a perfect foil to the rapid changes on board ship. There must be 3 or 4ml of my 16ml travel bottle gone already because I’d refresh myself after swimming or showers, before meals or adventures.
Here are four of my favourite cruise pics. I’ve never arrived home from a holiday so relaxed. Even though I caught the cld from hell, still I came home calm and happy. Now I’m organising my crew to do it too.
Our super cool crew.
Internal Promenade Deck with shops, cafe and pub. I loved strolling around here and sitting with mates having a chat.
Lucky shot off Deck 4 where the girls came to smoke
Isle of Pines. My first time swimming in the sea this century. Normally I’m terrified.
Below is a chance for you to try Vaninger too.

Vetiverus has styrax. Thanks so much for such a generous draw.
That jump over to Oliver & Co was an eye-opener. I’m smitten after my first look at those fabulous bottles, and the scents sound fascinating. My note-no-double-ups is for star anise which of course appears in Nebula 1 Orion. Thank you for the generous draw.
And thanks for sharing the fun vacay pics. Just looking at those images makes me take a relaxing deep breath while my heart rate slows. Cruising is such an easy way to have a great time. My mum converted me (and our entire family) to the pleasures of cruising. Her most favorite trip was with a group of her girlfriends + spouses to Australia and New Zealand. Gorgeous.
Ok, Ambergreen looks pretty fascinating. I love the smell of basil, which is one of its notes.
Resina would be my pick- love all the notes,(especially coffee, frankincense, nutmeg) but had to google Australian fire tree oil!
Nebula 1…blood orange, saffron and fiery notes! I’m intrigued!
lol! YOU SWAM IN THE SEA? Whattaya, CRAZY? There’s THINGS in there! Well, maybe not where you were? Certainly where you’re from! I’ve seen ’em! Sharks! Sharks with Frickin’ LASERS! lol!
Glad you had a good time, honey! xoxoxoA
These perfumes look so interesting, and I love the travel sprays. Gincense is particularly appealing to me with it’s blend of ginger and frankincense.
Vanninger sounds amazing – i love the zing that ginger brings to scents. Really jealous of your cruise – its on my wish list when i finish doing lots of work to my house – and then saving up….. so it wont be for ages. Anyhow – thanks for the draw Portia and i spotted Resina, which has coffee co2 extract – sounds interesting. cheers.
Welcome back, Portia 🙂
I love the sound of Ambergreen, with its basil note.
Thank you for the draw!
Nebula 2 Carina has elderflower, a lovely note. Thanks for the chance, and for sharing your vacation, Portia!
Resina – Rooibos Tincture. I love rooibos, this note might be interesting in perfumery. Thank you for giveaway!
Nebula 2- Carina has melon notes. Sounds interesting!
Resina – Fire Tree…that’s something I’ve never heard of! Thanks for the giveaway, count me in, please. Looks like you had a fabulous cruise!
Ambergreen….”both light and ethereal and yet persistent at the same time”. Galbanum and guaiac wood. Oh yes, please. Will you tell us what the other 3 scents you took along were?
Resina sounds like the one I would want to try the most (along with Vaninger). Nutmeg, anise and tonka along with the coffee and elemi sound intriguing. Thanks for the giveaway!
So, MOUSSE has real oakmoss – is that actually legal nowadays?!
M.O.U.S.E. II has mint (one of my favorite notes in perfumery) plus even cardomom and clove bud and lime peel?! I am so there! 🙂 What a great giveaway, thank you!
M.O.U.S.S.E II – mint! Thanks for the giveaway! 🙂
Resina seems popular – but what’s not to like with coffee, nutmeg and labdanum? The cruise looked fantastic.
I am so glad you had a lovely time on the cruise.
Nebula Series Orion with blood orange! Thank you for the draw.
Your cruise looks like it was a blast! I enjoyed following along on IG and wishing I had a group of fun people to vacation with.
I adore nutmeg and will need to sample Resina someday. I follow via RSS and Bloglovin’.

I checked out Nebula 2 Carina, which contains one of my favorite notes cardamom!
Gincense: amber, ambergris, bay leaves, frankincense, hiba wood, labdanum, white musks
To name a few of the notes
Hellooo…. Was this made with me in mind? Sweet Baby Jesus save my soul I think I’ve fallen in love with not so much as a sniff.
What is this dark magic and where can I buy a sample.
Lime in M.O.U.S.S.E., which must be said as Gwen Stefani would say it.
Ah, Gincense. I was wondering where I’d heard of these guys. With GINGER FRESH. Woo!
You’ve been talking about this line for so long that I’ve been increasingly interested in trying one of the scents. Clove bud in Vetiverus–all the scents sound interesting, but that one most of all for me! Thanks for the draw 🙂 I follow by email.
La Colonia has Mysore Sandalwood. One of my favorite perfumes from Oliver & Co. Thank you.
I like the idea of Golden Champaca absolute in Nebula 1-Orion. Thanks very much!
Ginger, heliotrope and vanilla absolute you just can’t go wrong! Thanks for the opportunity.
Saffron in Nebula 1 Orian 🙂 Thank you! That scent sounds amazing and matches beautifully with the beach pics.
Oh, autocorrect, how you butcher my words: Resina, and coffee co2. No idea if this will be as intended or what, sorry for the annoyance factor!
Resonance (as has been mentioned above) has coffee could extract! !! With myrrh, labdanum, benzoin. And some Tonka bean – god, that sounds amazing. Thank you so much for the draw!
Nebula 2 Carina- Ambergris! Oooh that fragrance sounded amazing, at least from just reading the notes.
Resina. Benzoin and Coffee CO2 extrait. Yum
nebula 1 · orion Orange blossom absolute. I used to live behind an orange grove;mmmm! Thanks for the draw!
