SOTD 13.3.2020

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else SOTD choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and Perfume Posse people love to chat. We like to keep it fragrant but there’s always room for life events and adventures too. This is our place to share how we smell, live, love, eat, work, raise kids and pets and get on with the business of living.

Perfume Posse SOTD

SOTD 13.3.2020

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz. Whenever you feel the mood take you, share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at Perfume Posse, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your SOTD comment. Then you can reply to them, and so on.

Go To It Crew.

Jin and I watched all three Pitch Perfect movies tonight. How had I never seen one> They’re terrible and fabulous and I had some fall off the chair laughing moments where we had to pause so I could calm TF down. LOVED them.

more Strangers for me – i may have found a new favourite house. Today is Aroon Sawat. Didn’t love it the other day when i first tried it but wearing quite a few sprays today and i am loving it. Not sure how to describe it but will go with a fruity, creamy, white flowers and woody scent. I think its liking the mild weather. Very impressed.

  • Melanie says:

Wearing Oliver, by Strangers Perfumerie. Opens on me as a super lovely citrus blend, settling to that clean shirt feel with a little musk. Not sure it will last the day but the opening is awesome and unlike anything I would own.

  • Neva says:

Wearing FM Rose & Cuir the last few days. I only have the travel spray but I enjoy it so much that it could easily become a FB soon. I love the combination of fresh flowers and soft leather and the longevity is amazing.

    • Portia says:

      Hey Neva,
My FM Rose & Cuir travel keeps winking at me, trying to remind me to wear it. I might just do that tomorrow.

Liberté by Cacharel. Zingy citrus, fairy floss and modern patchouli/musk.
    Perfect TRiVIA Q&A writing scent

Libertine Witch Doctor for me today.

  • Kathleen says:

I wore Berdoues Viollete for a couple days, beautiful lipstick fragrance. Now Chanel Coromandel, one of my favorite memory scents.
Here in the US, specifically Colorado where I live, panic shopping prevails. I haven’t hoarded anything, only bought enough so i don’t have to go out for awhile other than work.

    • Portia says:

      Hey Kathleen,
Coromandel is so freaking gorgeous. You smell fabulous.
      Having enough is common sense.
We are hoping that a shipment of brown rice arrives tomorrow at our local Asian grocery. It’s the best for my diabetes and so it’s all we eat now but it’s getting low.

Last night I dropped a bottle of Clinique Aromatics Elixir Oil in the bathroom and it smashed on the tiles. The whole apartment is unbelievably fragrant. You can even smell it when opening the front door to the building. HUGE!
I don’t think there’s a perfume on earth that can compete with it.

Wearing Nui Cobalt Designs The Bees High Tea and it is glorious! Description: An uplifting blend to forge lasting connections and cultivate friendships. Delicate vanilla cakes with rose petal preserves, elderflower wine, and Earl Grey tea with a dainty drop of spring harvest honey.

  • Portia says:

Jin and I went out and did the obligatory PANIC BUYING today. Stocked up on Sugar Free Coca cola for our friend Alice, Korean Curry Powder for our friend Kath, Kim Chi for Jin and Milk and Nuts for me.

We didn’t really panic buy, just filled up on stuff we were running low on. We did get an extra loaf of rye bread and some meats to put in the freezer. All the panic buy stuff was gone already at 10am. Not a pasta, rice, tissue or toilet paper in sight.

I wore Liberté by Cacharel. It was the perfect PANIC BUY faux accompaniment.

Oh dear Portia. I had a similar experience here on the other side of the world. I didn’t need much, just some milk, a few fresh veggies and cheese. I’ve never seen anything like the lineups to pay, wow. Luckily the express was still a thing and since I and only one or two others had less than 15 items we sailed through.
I read somewhere that there are only 2 responses to the toilet paper hoarding urge. One is to panic and try to get yours, and the other is to walk past the aisle and shake your head and giggle.
I think I was wearing PdN’s SacreBlue hahaha I should have gone down the aisle shaking my head and declaring tsk tsk ‘SacreBlue’!!

      • Portia says:

        Hey SonomaVelvet,
Yeah, it’s crazy. Having said that, it’s looking like more and more lockdown will be occurring here in Australia. A large percentage of office workers are now staying home, schools and universities too.
PdN’s SacreBlue is such a good choice for times like these.

    Rose Absolute by Viktoria Minya.
Should be called Turkish Delight Absolute. Al the sweetness cut through with a dark, poopy oudh and woods. Unbelievably gorgeous.

  • Maya says:

SOTEvening, older bottle of Caron Montaigne. It always makes me think of spring. I don’t wear it often but always enjoy it when I do.

  • Sonomavelvet says:

I wanted something something big and floral and warm and cozy all at the same time today so I went with Amouage Lyric Woman and it’s been wafting waves of total gorgeousness all day. Love it, and life is good.

  • Sandra says:

Yay Portia,,lots of scented loves n hugs your way now I’ve “found” where you’re at! Been wearing old favourite No 5. Bottle nearly empty so will just enjoy to the last drop. Xx

    • Portia says:

      Hey there Sandra,
Welcome aboard. CHANEL No 5 fits almost every situation. You’ll be needing a new bottle soon then?

  • HMW says:

Malle’s Dries van Noten today. Comforting on a grey day

  • Dina C. says:

Wearing HdP Vert Pivoine, a powdery peony scent. Nice for spring especially, very clean and green.

    • Carolyn says:

Ohhhh…I used to have some of this. Wonder where it went? Would be beautiful for springtime in Santa Fe I think!

  • AnnieA says:

Have finished a decant of Indult Rêve en Cuir this week.

    • Carolyn says:

What did you think of it? I’m always interested in new (to me) leather scents.

      • AnnieA says:

It’s well-behaved leather and quite refined. The drydown reminds me a bit of pan juices from a roast beef – a bit fatty? Not unpleasant, but rather incongruous…

  • Cbsutcliffe says:

I needed comfort scents this week. I’ve worn Lancome Mille et Une Roses, Chanel Beige, and Oribe Cote d’Azur Body cream that I can remember. I also brought out my bottle of Paris Jardins Romantiques and have scented my bathrobe to “Think spring!”

    • Dina C. says:

I love Paris Jardins Romantiques and Chanel Beige. Great spring scents. And I agree about needing comfort scents in a time of crisis. Sending hugs! 🙂

  • AnnJune says:

Too early yet in the day for perfume for me, but will be wearing SMN Melograno in a bit. Also excitedly awaiting an order of samples of the Astier de Villatte complete set of colognes placed last night from the John Derian web site. Happy weekend to all : )

    • Bella says:

Funny you should mention Astier de Villatte, had not heard of them till last week, but now I own and love Grand Chalet! Had been looking for a linden perfume for ages since Tilleul was discontinued. Hope you will enjoy it, I might look at that website you mention.

  • Portia says:

    SOTBed: Mimosa Love by Amouage.
The most beautiful mimosa scent I ever found. Pristine, sweetly clean and juicy in open.

  • MMKinPA says:

I have been doing a week of Nicolai. Vanille Tonka, Rose Royale, Kiss Me Intense, Fig-Tea, and finally Sacrebleu Intense. Happy with all except the Rose; I find that more often than not I don’t enjoy predominantly rose perfumes, kinda sad about it!

    • Portia says:

      Hi MMKinPA,
I love the idea of a PdN week. How bloody good is Vanille Tonka? One of my faves from the house.
      Portia xx

    • Carolyn says:

I love Sacrebleu. Wonder if I have any samples lingering about? If not, I may need to go visit Lucky Scent’s website now. 🙂

  • matty1649 says:

    Molinard Nirmala, yesterday and today.

  • Lemoncake says:

I’ve been wearing Maison Lancome – wore Oud Bouquet yesterday….maybe Parfait de Roses today.

  • Tanja says:

Moulin Rouge. It’s good for a makeup and powder scent, but it’s not very me, I fear.

  • Carolyn says:

Tonight it’s Ineke’s Balmy Days and Sunday, a bottle I just received from Twisted Lily, a niche perfume store closing business in Brooklyn. 🙁

    • Portia says:

Isn’t it sad about Twisted Lily Carolyn? What a shame. I hope you snagged a bargain.
      Portia xx

      • Carolyn says:

I moved from Brooklyn to Santa Fe almost 3 years ago and I miss being able to sniff around a store like Twisted Lily. I really haven’t discovered anything similar in Santa Fe. Heartbroken that they are going out of business. They are still selling off testers this weekend if anyone is in the vicinity.
