V Intense by Robert Piguet

Hi there Posse. Found this half used V Intense decant in a drawer during the sales clean up. I’ve long loved Robert Piguet fragrances. We had Joe Garces come to Sydney back in 2013 with the Nouvelle Collection and he was enthralling. Piguet had just done a few new frags and he gave a mini masterclass in how perfumes are emotionally linked through our nose to our brains and our hearts.  It was fun and informative and gave my already reverent thoughts if the house a buff and polish.

Piguet give these featured accords:
Top: Bergamot, pear, saffron
Heart: Rose, ylang-ylang, plum
Base: Patchouli, incense, sandalwood, white musk

The beautiful squeal of fruit and citrus opens V Intense. It’s sweet but in a fruity way rather than confectionary. It’s also tart. This is a fragrance for people who like to smell like a good time. I can so imagine it being the after work drinks or dressed up event spritz. Fun, fruity, flirty and yet sophisticated enough that the over 40s will not feel like carcass dressed up as mutton wearing it.

The fruitiness carries through to the heart but with the added smooth floralcy of ylang. There is also a very clove-y zing of spice that is unnamed in the V Intense notes list.

About 40 minutes in V Intense takes a darker turn. The patchouli/woods combo is rich and deep. While it plays a bass line the fruit still has a piccolo descant. So interesting and captivating. Dry down is all smoldering and powerful sensuality.

While the opening feels very feminine oriented, V Intense dry down could be one of those famed old Caron style scents. Very beautifully balanced, modern masculine leaning, woodsy gorgeousness. Done in a smooth, slippery, elegant style.

Did you? Would you? Does V Intense read like it might float your boat?

Thanks for the detailed replies, really helpful!

I’ve been comparing different fragrances lately, including some from Azzaro perfumes, and I’m trying to understand how niche scents like this compare in terms of depth and performance.

Would you say V Intense by Robert Piguet feels more refined or just stronger compared to something like Azzaro Most Wanted perfume?

Curious to hear your thoughts from experience.
