SOTD 18.9.2020

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else SOTD choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and Perfume Posse people love to chat. We like to keep it fragrant but there’s always room for life events and adventures too. This is our place to share how we smell, live, love, eat, work, raise kids and pets and get on with the business of living.

Perfume Posse SOTD

SOTD 18.9.2020

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz. Whenever you feel the mood take you, share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at Perfume Posse, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your SOTD comment. Then you can reply to them, and so on.

Go To It Crew.

I am swimming in Grand Amour. So gorgeous. And reminds me of when Mr Marzipan and I met, quarter of a century ago. Back then Annick Goutal was my favorite house. I must have emptied 20+ 100 ml bottles.

  • Neva says:

Today is again a warm sunny day and I’m wearing my “feel good” perfume – Bruno Fazzolari’s Unsettled, a creamy pineapple inspired by Patou’s Colony, which I have a small sample of 🙂 …thanks to you, Portia 🙂

  • Portia Turbo says:

Tonight on birthday eve I think it’s going to have to be SHALIMAR! All the concentrations and ages!

  • Melanie says:

Trying something from my discovery set from Metascents today. Its called Cay – a lovely, suede, oud, vanilla scent. Sits really close. Has a teeny tiny Montale vibe. Might enjoy a little more movement and some heat, rather than the stationary office environment.

  • NancyC says:

I’m following Brigitte’s lead and wearing Shalimar parfum in honor of Marcella and Portia’s birthdays this week. Happy Birthday, y’all! Mwah!

  • Neva says:

Today it’s still warm so I’m enjoying my warm weather scents…Oltremare by Bois 1920, a green citrus perfume with a prominent rhubarb note. Absolutely lovely and unisex.

    • Portia says:

      Hi Neva,
It’s funny. I don’t hear about a brand very much for ages and suddenly from a few different people Bois 1920 has come up. I have Sushi Imperiale and don’t remember smelling Oltremare, now I’m curious.
      LEMMING alert!
      Portia xx

      • Neva says:

You won’t regret it, Portia. It was love at first sniff for me. Btw. I haven’t tried any other scent from Bois 1920.

  • Melanie says:

Eight & Bobs Egypt for me today. Not amazing (on me) but I get a woody, creamy scent but I think the cream is more lemon.

    • Portia says:

      Hey there Melanie,
BUMMER about Egypt. It’s quite high on my FB want list. We all have such different tastes and styles we love. Part of the fun.

Oriza Deja Le Printemps today, entirely inappropriate for the cooler, overcast weather. Nice, soft, easy to wear greenie, but it faded quickly. That’s cool, I’m switching to Eau Duelle now.
Portia, the Zoom meeting was so much fun last night. Thanks for taking the time and effort to arrange it! I’m raising my hand to vote for a monthly Zoom meeting, if I may….?

    • Portia says:

      Hey NancyC,
Eau Duelle is one of my favourites. Had I read this before spritzing for the evening it would have been my choice.
YAY! So glad you enjoyed the ZOOM POSSE. I’ve been floating on a happy cloud ever since, just thinking about it.
Monthly sounds doable. Obviously I’ll have to check with the crew but I think they all enjoyed it too. Let’s ask if we can try it again next month and see how it goes, eh?

  • Brigitte says:

Tomorrow I wear vintage Shalimar EDC in honor of Marcella and Portia who both celebrate birthdays this week.

    Have a great week.

    • Neva says:

Oh great! It’s birthday week 🙂 I don’t own Shalimar so I’ll probably go to a perfumery and help myself 😀

    • Portia says:

Damn I wish Marcella had made the move across.

Thanks Brigitte. I may have a Shalimar moment or two between now and then.

    Au Coeur du Desert

  • Portia says:

This afternoon I’m swanning around the house. All laundry done, dogs fed & walked, ZOOM POSSE accomplished and the house is still clean from yesterday’s pre guests super clean.
Wearing Interlude Black Iris by Amouage.
    Review coming soon.
    Portia xx

  • Melanie says:

Irish Leather by Memo Paris for me today. It’s a bit fancy for the office but you know, who cares!!

  • Portia says:

GOSH! It’s been busy around here.
We had a group of perfumistas over yesterday for sniffing and food. It was really fun. This house iOS still extremely fragrant.
Then my BFF came over for scones in the evening. So fun.
TODAY is ZOOM POSSE. I’m up and ready. Washed my face, made a coffee, spritzed lavishly with Reem Acra.
    See you all soon.

Wearing Antonia’s Flowers Tiempe Passate the past two days all the time. I didn’t wear it a year long because when I found out it’s discontinued I started panicking and didn’t want to use it up. This year so many things happened that made me change my mind about keeping things forever. I just want to enjoy it all here and now and when they’re gone, I’ll have beautiful memories…

  • Maya says:

Atelier Cafe Tuberosa. I really like this one a lot! It’s good from beginning to end and lasts quite a while. Am definitely considering a fb.

    • Neva says:

I’ve heard only positive reviews of Cafe Tuberosa. I’m not a fan of coffee nor tuberose in perfume but I’m really curious about this perfume.

      • Maya says:

I like the smell of coffee but this is the first perfume with coffee that I like. On me, it’s mainly coffee and cacao. I rarely like cacao in perfume either. The tuberose and everything else is secondary. The coffee and cacao stay from beginning to end with the other notes moving in and out and around but never taking over. Somehow it works.

  • SpringPansy says:

Prada Amber. I’ve been wearing this sample nonstop since I received it from Surrender to Chance. It truly is a modern classic that I ignored early on in my perfumista travels – thought I wouldn’t like the patchouli. But this is a warm, herbal, ambery patchouli that I really like. Or maybe it’s a warm, herbal amber with some delicate patchouli. It’ll be great for winter here in the rainy NW of the US.

  • AnnieA says:

In a spritz of Etro Heliotrope and just about to attend a friend’s dad’s online memorial service.

  • Eldarwen22 says:

Wore vintage L’heure Bleue this morning then switched to Memoir bath products today. I might do Epic tomorrow or maybe Dia to finish up the soap.

  • Kathleen says:

Guerlain Champs Elysees, a long-time love of mine that doesn’t get enough wear time. Funny, my husband rarely comments on my perfume. However, whenever I wear Champs Elysees he notices and says I smell good. He has done this for the past 20 years, and I can go for a long time without a wear. He is consistent!

  • NancyC says:

Elixir des Merveilles this morning, and vintage Coco this afternoon after my shower. Love them both. The original EdM is the only one in the line that I cannot wear. Oh wait, I don’t care for the Bleue, either. But I’ve haunted eBay for a good many of the others!

  • Musette says:

I’m awash in vintage Arpege dusting powder and extrait. I may be cleaning gutters…but I smell FAB! xoxox

    • Erica says:

🙂 what a way to clean your gutters! I adore Arpege (especially Vintage) and have continued to buy it over the years.

    • Kathleen says:

You smell FAB indeed! I adore Arpege in all forms, including the dusting powder. So glam!

    • Dina C. says:

Arpege was my signature scent throughout my 20s, and I have an abiding love for it still. You smell fabulous darlink!

  • Dina C. says:

Wearing Thymes Neroli Sol, a beachy orange blossom with salt & teak wood. This has been my summer 2020 scent. Very serene and happy. Got the lotion, bubble bath and a mini spray pen.

  • Maya says:

Atelier Mistral Patchouli. I am reminded how much I like this summer citrus-patchouli. I recently found out that Atelier brought back Mistral Patchouli but renamed it Patchouli Riviera. Supposedly the formula is exactly the same.

  • Brigitte says:

    Au Couer du Desert

  • KimB says:

Joy Parfum. Jasmine and rose. Most roses sour on me, Joy doesn’t. My goodness this is gorgeous! Well named! How did I not like this before? Will chalk it up to skin changes after a few surgeries two years ago.

  • Lisa Jay says:

I am wearing E Coudray’s Musc et Freesia. A lovely light and fresh musky skin scent. I tend to prefer these comfortable “my skin but better” scents on my days off from work.

  • Cinnamon says:

By Killian Love Don’t be Shy. From sample. First hour is marshmallow sweet and absolutely stupendous. After that, it’s just a well done skin scent.

  • matty1649 says:

Cheap and cheerful and spicy for me today. Adam levine for her

  • Neva says:

Today I’m wearing Puredistance Antonia. It reminds me a lot of vintage Safari which is great. Has anyone else the same impression?

  • Erica says:

Dune for the most part today – as well as several others as the mood struck…. Decided once and for all to take all the perfumes out of their boxes and put them on shelves in the WIR. Perhaps seeing them will encourage me to wear them instead of just looking at boxes! And yes – I threw the boxes away (way too much clutter). Happy Friday all 🙂

  • Portia says:

WOW! It’s ALREADY Friday! Time flies.
Today I wore Alahine by Teo Cabanel
This afternoon I’ve been decanting and am drenched happily in Pimiento by Miller et Bertaux. So lovely.
