Lovely Noir by Sarah Jessica Parker 2025

Hey Posse Peeps. Let’s talk about SJP’s latest release, late last year and in time for Christmas. It was all over our local chemist and under AU$10 for 30ml. I know, right! Lovely Noir has arrived. The checkout chick after ringing up my purchase said, “Did you know Sarah Jessica Parker’s new perfume is now under 10 bucks and it’s banging.”  Then she pointed to a chocolate and gold box that looked WAY more luxurious than 10 bucks worth and I reached out and grabbed one. We’ve all had some good luck with SJP frags, the original Lovely is still close at hand. As are Stash and Stash Unspoken. Stash Unspoken sits happily in my Grab Tray and gets a lot of love.

Lovely Noir by Sarah Jessica Parker 2025

Notes include:
Top: Pear, Mandarin Orange, Jasmine
Heart: Benzoin, Sandalwood, Peony
Base: Amber, Patchouli, Vetiver

This is gourmand. Straight out of the gate it’s a chocolate covered crackling caramel amber with patchouli depths.

Pear, Mandarin, Jasmine? Nope. Peony. What the…?

Sweet creamy chocolate amber. Do you remember Guess by Marciano? Morn to Dusk by Eau d’Italie? Add just a hint of chocolate and you’re definitely in the ballpark. Super rich, sweet and luscious. It stays at the same level for hours without being completely linear.

To be totally honest, in my minds eye this is not what I expect myself to love. I don’t LOVE it. Not even sure it will get any wear after the few to write about it. Lovely Noir IS super satisfying though, more-ish and fabulously disgusting. If you want to scratch the gourmand itch without hitting BR54 or fragrant synonyms then this could definitely fit the bill.

Let’s also enjoy that it’s practically free.

Would you? Have you? Could you Lovely Noir?

Showing up late — the chocolate is a “no” for me, but hey — ten bucks?!?! Her fragrances are always worth a try.

  • Anna Calarco says:

I still love Stash the best ! It’s a good way to try gourmand less expensively ???

  • Maggiecat says:

I love Lovely – don’t wear it as often as I used to, but it was amazing on me. This flanker doesn’t sound like it would work on me though. I enjoy eating chocolate, but don’t want to smell like it. At all.

Lovely has been in my collection since it was released. Must be on my third 100ml bottle. It’s an easy grab & cost pennies.
I get the likeness to NR OG but Lovely is more nuanced & prettier. The NR gives me a nauseous headache. Lovely doesn’t.
Chocolate in perfume isn’t my thing so I won’t be exploring, even if SJP was art directing.
I’m disappointed with many of the Lovely flankers. Prefer the Stash flankers to OG Stash & loved NYC OG. It has been reformulated though & now smells like Elnett rather than the effervescent, fruity in was on release.

      Hey Alityke,
Yes, I’ve gone through some Lovely bottles too. So easy. Currently there’s a 30ml with maybe 50% gone.
Funny story, my mate Anna Maria’s husband Johnny. Big, burly, very manly, hairy, plumber steals her Lovely all the time. It’s basically his signature scent and smalls awesome on him.

    I AM NOT SPAM G-DDAMIT!!

Love the review but I have no urge to scratch that itch. Even though I know (because you introduced me) that SJP does very well done and carefully thought-out scents.

  • Maya says:

I like the bottle too, but……..I was given a 10ml rollerball of the original Lovely and liked the perfume but it gave me a wicked headache so I passed it onto someone who thought it smelled great but who also got headaches from it. Turned me off to trying more SJP perfumes.

  • Dina C. says:

Eww, no way! Haha This is not compelling to me. But pretty bottle. And what a great price — total bargain!

    • Portia says:

HA! YAY! I’m pretty sure it’s not aimed at hardcore perfumistas DinaC. Also, it’s nothing groundbreaking BUT if you did like the style it would be a pack leader at that price.

  • Musette says:

Alas, I missed the entire SJP oeuvre!!! Dunno why but I’ve never smelled any of them

But definitely NOT with the chocolate note – for someone who loves chocolate, in perfume it makes me unhappy

But DANG! what a great price!

  • cinnamon says:

What a strange and wonderful bargain. Do you think SJP is still involved in the makeup of the perfumes?

I tried Lovely back in the day and read Chandler Burr’s book about it. She’s an interesting woman.
