Decant Demolition 2025 May

Hey Hey Posse, It’s already finished, MAY!?! How fast is this year going? We are already in June, month 6 of the year. I’m nearly halfway through Decant Demolition 2025.  WOO HOO! 44ml over the May period. A couple of these were mere dregs of oily morass but I’m counting the thunk.

Hopefully you have all had an exciting time emptying some old (or new) samples and decants. Can’t wait to read about it in the comments.

Decant Demolition 2025 May

My Challenge

For Decant Demolition 2025 I’ll be trying to drain 30ml of juice every month. In any configuration from 15 x 2ml to a 30ml decant of decanted perfume into a spray receptacle 2ml or more. They must also be finished by ME! No giving stuff away. Although Random Acts Of Kindness are encouraged they do not count for my DD2025.

Your Challenge

Play along. Use up some decants/samples/bottles. Pass those unloved extras on to others or leave them in your workplace bathroom for people to take.

Also, in the interest of driving fragrant discussion and your own thunking there must be 40 comments that are not mine. Yes, you read it correctly. 40 comments, and not lazy, spammy bumps like an OK or Got It. It must be a pertinent comment to the discussion at hand. You can answer someone else’s comment. Ask them a question about their comment. Add your own thunks, thoughts on my thunks. Tell us a story about something fragrant that links with previous comments or the post. The secondary (but most important) goal of Decant Demolition 2025 is to reanimate perfumista conversation and engagement.

Should I make 30ml and there be 40 comments that comply. I will give away a US$50 Surrender To Chance Gift Voucher each month.

GAH! We only got 26 comments from you all
Sorry, NO PRIZE!

PLEASE get more excited about Decant Demolition 2025 for May.

Decant Demolition 2025 May

May Empties

Eladaria by Creed 2ml

LOVED this on first couple of wears but then it turned on me. Eladaria is a NoNo. Bummer

Gentry Jockey Club by Oriza L. Legrand 10ml

Gentry Jockey Club is bloody gorgeous. Lovely leather with a bunch of low key fruity trimmings. I’ve finished the decant and can now move onto my bottle! YAY!

Grenadille d’Afrique by Aedes de Venustas 8ml

Grenadine d’Afrique is gorgeous but it’s a modern fougere really with deep woody undertones. I love it but don’t need to add it to the collection.

LE 13 by The Different Company 8ml

LE 13 by The Different Company 8ml

There are two of these here because when LE 13 was discontinued and I couldn’t find it anywhere I bought a few 8ml from Surrender to Chance. Sadly, one of them was basically an oily smudge on the bottom of the decant. The other though, PHWOAR! So good. A smooth resinous floral.

Sunkissed Goddess by by Kilian 3ml

I love the beachy sunshine tribe of perfumes and Sunkissed Goddess is very nice. Honestly though, I much prefer the much cheaper Lauder offering Bronze Goddess in all its variations. SOZ by Kilian

Vanille Orient by M. Micallef 5ml

Amber done big and bright. I have a bunch of ambers, and also the Vanille Marine from this set. If you don’t have a luscious powdery vanilla then this could be a perfect fit for you.

How did you go for Decant Demolition 2025 in May?

WOO HOO! 44ml done and dusted. Are any of these perfumes you like, love or loath?
Now’s the time to get commenting, replying and connecting.
I really loving giving away prizes but you all have to come and do your bit.

I’m quite close to finishing a travel bottle of JHAG Sunnyside Up. I have another and it’s really FBW. Lovely sandalwood and neroli and, true to its nàme, a mood booster.
And my plan is to get ruthless about discarding old samples and ones I don’t care for. Sometimes I change my mind, sure, but at this point I know what I like. And I have some downsizing to do….

no thunk, but nearly finished a decant of CdG Odeur 53. maybe i will get a bottle

Yes, its a fun scent, smells purely chemical like a drycleaner mixed with a hairdressers shop

This month I thunked two empty travel vials, FCUK Friction and Pacifica Island Vanilla. Lately I’ve been lagging in emptying anything, a coworker complained about too much perfume and so I’ve cut back, I was truly enjoying my new white floral era. Some days now even nothing. 🙁 Not sure how I missed Vanille Orient and Eladaria, but both have been added to my try list.

That Gentry Jockey Club sounds very good. I should look up my Oriza L. Legrand sample set and see if it’s in there.

Lately, I’ve been drawn to floral fragrances and finished 4 samples.
A la Nuit and Sarrasins. Both are great jasmin fragrances and luckily I have a bottle of both.
Libertine Neroli, a beautiful neroli fragrance with a great oakmoss note. I have more samples of this one, so I will test it some more.
Premier figuer. Fig done right. I already own Fig my Love and don’t need another fig fragrance in my collection.

Francesca Bianchi has some excellent fragrances.
I found my sample of Gentry Jockey Club and give it a good wear. I don’t know why I haven’t tried it before. It’s a great leather fragrance. Thanks for mentioning it Portia.

We’re having a few nights in Whitby soon. I plan to take a couple of samples or a single decant.

Maybe not. A couple of posts ago, I tried several times in the evening but “no”, then after 5 or 6 tries the next day – same post – copied and pasted it, it worked. I was going to just not comment for a while.

Well, I haven’t done very well this month in tidying away any samples. I passed a few on to a friend, but emptied only one – a Luckyscent sample of Pnoi, from Angelos Créations.

Angelos Créations Olfactives is a Greek brand. It’s offers some excellent fragrances. Most of them are vintage inspired and very evocative. I especially enjoyed Angeliki (a chypre) and Yloud-Yloud, most of his scents are worth trying. Pnoi is a bit of a shape shifter and hard to describe. It’s a powdery leather, somewhat similar to Epona, but more complex. If you enjoy vintage style fragrances, you should give this house a try.

I am not familiar with any of your thunks, but got an instant urge to run to the nearest perfume counter to spritz on some Bronze Goddess.

I finished five samples (Ineke and Grandiflora) and my favourites were Saskia (Grandiflora) and Idyllwild (Ineke). I desperately want a bottle of Idyllwild but it seems impossible to get one in Europe without paying taxes and customs 🙁

Idyllwild is a great fragrance. You could try Parfümerie Wierer in Germany. They might have it.

Thank you so much!! I’ll ask if they are able to ship it abroad. They do not seem to have an online shop. I checked through the stockists in the brand website and there are surprisingly few in Europe.

Oh, Gilded Lily looks lovely. I never heard of it, so I looked it up. Now I need to find a sample of it.

I rarely seem to thunk small samples. I did however finish a 9ml decant of Papillon Tobacco Rose and have already gotten another one. hehe. I haven’t tried Eladaria yet because when I was ordering samples, they did not have it yet, but I did get Delphinus, which I like but don’t love. I also found a large decant of SL La Vierge De Fer. Yay! Finally got Eshal and agree – it’s wonderful. Have a sample of Seven Gates Immortal Shade, a great dark vanilla, which smells bla on my arm but terrific away from it. May get a large decant. So that’s why I don’t do much “demolition” ever. I keep buying.

Haven’t heard about The Different Company in a while. On my part I finished off 10 ml of Dioressimo (painful! but now have the quite-nice Nicolai Muguet I bought in Paris), and a travel spray of Eau de Magnolia. Right I bought a new travel spray of that in Paris as well, so rather steady state…

I haven’t demolished any decants although I have sampled quite a few things! I’m weirdly grateful that I dumped my giant decant collection years ago, although Carolyn has a huge one of her own that’s slowly evaporating.

I have so many decants from the 90’s, from when swapping and Makeupalley was first beginning to be a thing that no longer have labels and I know I should just get rid of them but I also know they are from around the time when the fragrance community was beginning to realize what niche was so I have no idea what’s in there and I can’t bear to lose them but I love reading the courageous stories of those who can. Gentry Jockey Club sounds lovely and I am going to try and find a sample (but not a decant).

DNEM but! I finished an actual bottle! Unsurprisingly it’s Hermes Pamplemousse Rose, which I would bathe in, could I afford it!

No larger decants emptied – but I did drain Huda Beauty Kayali Wedding Silk Santa 36.

Absolutely Gorgeous!

Well that Gentry Jockey Club thing certainly got my attention- Bandit for the 21st century? Where do I sign up?

Oh wait, this was about getting rid of things..

I’m very behind on thunks due to travel and COVID but am now back on track. I’ve not tried Sunkissed Goddess but now I’m craving one of those summer, Coppertone, Bain de Soliel type scents.

With travel and spring season games wrapping up, I didn’t thunk a thing. Most of my decants are heavy fall/winter perfumes. I’ll rummage through the samples and try to thunk a few of the larger ones next month.

No perfume thunks but 3 hand goops literally scraped out. Yep, end cut out & scraped round to get every last bit out. Palmer’s Coconut Oil hand cream, Clinique Hand Comfort & the best ever CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment. The CeraVe isn’t really a hand cream but a thick, water resistant ointment that is nectar to my poor, over washed paws. Not a single ml of that baby is going to waste! It’s also perfect on lips, cuticles, elbows, feet, knees & anywhere else that gets dry. I’ve even used it round my nose as a pollen catcher as it’s matte.
Another skin thunk was Clinique Moisture Surge. My warm weather staple.
My skin is uber dry & gets hideously itchy overnight if I don’t gunk up.

I have drawers full of the hand gunks & thick occlusive ointments. Old pillow cases & sheets on, tiger grass ointments everywhere including face, long pjs & bed socks. We could marinate together. Even better add the Phillip Kingsley hair gunk & a turban.
Wake up, shower, baby soft skin & hair without even thinking about a spa

Finally done with my large sample of Masque Milano Tango. I wrote about this on Posse. The best part for me, and it is a doozy, is the opening of super Band-Aid (cumin). So so good. Really enjoyed the ride. Aedes de Venustas … Visited a couple of times on trips back to NY after I’d moved away. Very good shop in a sea of really good shops. I miss that corner of the Village.

I got nothing to report in finishing anything in perfume terms except 2 Bum Bum body lotions. It’s amazing on how Cheirosa 62 grew on me the passed couple months. It’s a fancier version of anything from Bath and Body Works but still affordable.

I have several small tubs of Bum Bum plus a large tub of an almost dupe from Costco. I never thought I would like the scent either, but here we are! I haven’t been to BBW in ages. My latest scented body lotions are the EOS – my son bought me a peach & jasmine and I bought the strawberry (childhood memories…)
