SOTD 28.8.2020

A SOTD (Scent Of The Day) thread is a really good conversation generator. The idea is you’ll chime in through the week with whatever scent you are wearing. You don’t need to be super knowledgable, have high faluting tastes or be a published author to comment. Just tell us what fragrance you’re wearing, smelling, buying etc. and how it makes you feel and/or anything else about it that tickles your fancy.

You can also comment on everyone else SOTD choices too. It’s great to tell someone how much you love their choice, ask for more info about it, the house or perfumer. There’s someone here from around the world 24/7 and Perfume Posse people love to chat. We like to keep it fragrant but there’s always room for life events and adventures too. This is our place to share how we smell, live, love, eat, work, raise kids and pets and get on with the business of living.

Perfume Posse SOTD

SOTD 28.8.2020

You probably won’t have time to write every scent, every spritz. Whenever you feel the mood take you, share your current spritz and a few things about it. Maybe you love/loathe it, want it, are excited by the notes/bottle/SA who sold it: WHATEVER! As always here at Perfume Posse, taking sides never means taking offence and everyone keeps it respectful and light, even though we can sometimes trawl the depths.

Hopefully you will come back and see if anyone has responded to your SOTD comment. Then you can reply to them, and so on.

Go To It Crew.

Started the day with FM Dans Tes Bras and refreshed it this evening. There is something about this scent. Will want a decant next. Maurice Roucel has created some great perfumes. He’s very good at sexy and/or sensual and when those perfumes work for you, they can be a lot of fun!

Today I’m MCing a wedding. Weddings are capped at 50 guests and there is no dancing allowed so they are doing TRIVIA instead. I can’t wait.
Fragrance choice is Jardins d’Amide by Oriza Legrand. I think its hefty powdery texture will be calming and its projection will give me authority.

This morning Iris Poudre for a sh$t a$$ day at work. But I came home to an amazing package from a perfume pal and am now wearing Coco, Rituals, Lovely Patchouli and Jill Sanders No 4. A 97 pound stink bomb.

It’s nearly 3am here. I’ve been reading all night. Just went to the loo and spritzed some Feve Delicious by DIOR to send me off to the land of nod. MM MMMMMMM

Wearing Posset’s Gingerbread Whorehouse today because the name made me laugh. Probably still a bit warm for something so pungent (lots of gingerbread and lots of pepper) but mornings and nights are cold in Santa Fe so…easier to wear heavier scents all year round here.

  • Melanie says:

Jil, by Jill Sander for me today. A lovely pink pepper, musky little number – perfect for the office.

THUNK! Vintage Givenchy Le De EdT 10ml decant. GONESKI! So richly fragrant, aldehydic floral with a fruity kick I think.

THUNKED my 10ml decant of Futur by Piguet. I must have had it for at least 8 years but bought a bottle and never finished the decant. YAY!

  • Portia says:

    Had a midnight bath.
Colognia by Compagnia Delle Indie. So springlike. A bright, tart, citrus cologne.
    Thunked a 10ml decant.

  • Brigitte says:

Eau de Private Collection. It’s cooler today so it’s smells a bit more like the original Private Collection.

  • Portia says:

Vetiver Oriental by Serge Lutens. A friend told me to sample it. I did. O M G! Had to own a bottle with it being so cheap on FragranceNet. BATHED in it. Brigitte amounts. AMAZING!

Pre walk and pre yardwork eau de Private Collection…an update of the 70s greeny. I will report back later on what I will wear post shower.

  • Melanie says:

Penhaligon’s Malabah for me today. Wafts of lemon, musk, ginger and amber. Strange combo that works.
I’m house sitting in the ‘burbs’ for a week so I’ve limited my choices and picked some scents I’ve not worn for ages. Question please – any love/thoughts for Penhaligons Candlestine Clara?

Nothing so far, as I plan to meet a couple of perfume pals and will be spritzing away soon.

    Post shower in Ganymede

  • Brigitte says:

Black Orchid EDP for the evening

  • Brigitte says:

Eau de Private Collection…8 sprays this morning….8 more in the afternoon. Softer and more floral than the original. Deli man gave me a compliment.

  • Queen-Cupcake says:

Wearing Histoire de Parfums Fidelis. As our weather has cooled down, I thought I would trial it. From Basenotes: Top Notes are Cardamom, Guatemalan coffee, Saffron, Cumin. Heart Notes are Rose and Raspberry. Base notes are Patchouli, Amber, & Laotian oud. Might be the only ‘fume I own with oud in it. So far, an hour in, I like it. Two sprays, it is pretty strong. Maybe only one spray next time.

    • Musette says:

wow! that’s some hella notes! I’m trying to combine them in my nose and coming up a little bit short (not sure where the coffee fits in) – but it does sound intriguing!

      xoxoxo

      • Queen-Cupcake says:

I’m not sure about where the coffee comes in, either, Musette. I can sense that it is there, but as an innocent bystander. I don’t know what oud smells like on its own, but everything is seamlessly blended.

  • Musette says:

I am nowhere near a beach, so I decided to bring the beach to me – wearing Bobbi Brown Beach (the body scrub and the lotion) with a hit of Coty Sand & Sable – the essential Breck Girl smell of the late 50s, early 60s – and a bit later I’ll slick on some Sabe Mousson Le Soft Copacabana, which has a hint of a beachy tone – but more apres le bain, like that shower you take to wash the sand and suntan oil off.

    Happy Friday!!!

    xoxoxo

  • Dina C. says:

Wearing Bulgari Omnia Crystalline today, a new-to-me recent purchase. It’s a lovely sensual floral musk. Low-key and not too demanding. Just what the situation calls for today. Happy weekend everyone.

  • MMKinPA says:

I’m going to wear Si Lolita again today. It has been a rough patch, the stresses of the last 6 months finally crashing down. My comfort scents are vanilla and spice; this perfume gives me the summer version of spice.

  • Portia says:

Patchouli Patch by L’Artisan. Have worn this beauty three times in the last week. It’s very addictive.
