Hi there Posse! I don’t know if you keep up with the Tom Ford releases? There seem to be SO MANY that I’ve kind of given up. I was strolling around the Surrender To Chance New tab not so very long ago and stumbled across Bois Pacifique. My first thought was, “OOOHHHHHH! Salty woods!” which is something I love. So it wasn’t a big think before 1ml spray sample was winging its way across the Pacific Ocean towards me. On the boards I saw that there are a bunch of perfume peeps whio liken it to Ébène Fumé and Gucci Pour Homme (2003). Fingers crossed because I LOVE them both.
Bois Pacifique by Tom Ford 2024

Tom Ford gives these featured accords:
Turmeric essence, Sandalwood album essence, Oakwood absolute, Akigalawood™, Cardamom essence, Olibanum essence
WHOA! The Bois Pacifique opening is everything I hoped. Woody, mineral, lightly spiced and smooth. It’s a very cool customer and smells awesome. Like some designer scent right out of the 1980s or even before but done in a totally wearable, modern way. This opening lasts beautifully too. The morph from top to heart is slow and luxurious.

Once the major Tom Ford fireworks are gone, after about 20 minutes, we are left with a dry down that lingers. It’s all woodsy lumberyard on a sunshiny day and a breath of resinous humanity. Sawdust, dust, working people and a little engine oil. You won’t smell like a lumberjack but maybe like you just had an encounter with one. That amber-ish wood dry down is comfortable and not in the scratchy woods trope, it’s a big smidge more sophisticated.
Bois Pacifique is a very masculine aimed fragrance but I’m thinking that the girls will rock its socks off. It’s so unexpected traditionally. Go for it. You might find you like it.
Honestly, while I love it. I can’t see the need for another very nice woodsy fragrance in my collection. If you’re new to the high side of designer offerings then this will definitely float your boat. Been around this way for any length of time, then you’ve probably already got three or four bottles in this wheelhouse.
Does Bois Pacifique sound like something that might float your boat?

UPDATE: Spritzed Bois Pacifique in Singapore airport on the weekend and it’s a happily salty driftwood with all else. It was a heavenly waft on the plane coming home, along with some DIOR J’Adore l’Or. I smelled SO GOOD!

And it’s not even a bad price (relatively) but it comes down to “do I need it?”
Oh and I AM NOT SPAM DAMMIT!!
I know the feeling! lolol
A truth often told. Tom, you are NOT spam.

I think it’s a lovely fragrance, one without the fireworks of some of the other Tom Fords, so perhaps it gets less attention. I should probably get a decant of this as well as Soleil Blanc, which I dismissed out of hand when it was released and yet find myself applying whenever I’m near a bottle 😀 (usually at Cos Bar.)
HA! The sneaky under the radar love affair March. I get it.

I am anosmic to some synthetics, need others to be in small doses only, like some and dislike others. Akigalawood is a whole other catagory. Spray it on Superman (or me) and you won’t need kryptonite!
This is good to know Maya,

The mineral, driftwood scents have never floated my boat, not even my driftwood.
Dior l’Or did pique my interest but I have so many stoned fruit scents I can’t justify it.
Heya Alityke,
Bummer about the salty woods. It’s probably good though, one less thing to MUST sniff.
Yeah, I have a few stone fruit frags but L’Or stood apart and above most. So different to the Mitsouko/Femme vibe.

This does NOT sound like a Musette Love
BUT! It does sound like something I would love to smell on others
HA! Yeah, probably not Musette.
I like it though.
