Gris Dior by Maison Christian Dior

Heya Posse Perfumistas, La Collection Privée is now called Maison Christian Dior. Just FYI. Gris Montaigne has been called Gris Dior since 2017. Nothing stays the same and very little lasts for a decade, let alone forever. Gris Montaine was long on the To Buy List in its four year tenure but sadly that never happened. I do have a 125ml Gris Dior bottle though and it’s half empty, bought about three quarters full from a Sale Doc on FB. It’s one of those easy spritz and go fragrances for me like CHANEL Boy, Neela Vermeire Creations Rahele and Cacharel Amor Amor. Beautiful, fun and I know I’ll smell low key good for hours.

From DIOR: A unisex eau de parfum that plays with contrasts, Gris Dior reveals the boldest nuances for those who wear it. Regal fragrance, scent of elegance, which the color gray represents at Dior, it encapsulates the spirit of the House and stands today as the icon of La Collection Privée Christian Dior.

Gris Dior is lovely. A low key waft of scent that doesn’t interfere with my cognition and lets out timid huffs of prettiness. It holds its relation to the chypres of old like a McDonald’s burger to an old fashioned corner store burger. They are called the same thing but worlds apart in taste, texture and chutzpah.

My scent experience is hardly related to the regular note list too. Opening spritz is a bright, berry heavy rose, tart but not jammy. As we head to the heart we get a lovely rich jammy rose and the patchouli makes itself known. It’s a clean, shorn patchouli like the radiant florals of the early 2000s. Gris Dior also has a little of that radiance. This heart is what remains for me for most of the wear. Lovely and so comfortable. We speak often of favourite T Shirt, Jeans or Jumper scents. That is how Gris Dior makes me feel.

Gris Dior

Dry down is a warm patchouli woods still with memories of the roses. It feels beautifully structured, especially for something so ethereal. If Gris Dior was amped up to 20 times the size I think it would smell like those supercharged shower gels: LUSH Rose Jam I’m looking at you. In this soft focus level it feels nurturing and yet fecund. A perfect spring wear that will fit ballroom, office and BarBQ.
