Hypær by Aether Parfums 2018

Hi there Perfume Posse, While in Paris earlier this year we hung out with Nicolas and his partner Enno who are the brains behind Aether parfums and Le Galion. They had some new stuff for us to smell. Aether is all about picking a particular synthetic molecule, adding a few beers and whistles to give the original molecule extra luster, but basically letting it shine for itself. Hypær is a perfect example of taking something and making it even better. Cashmere is the molecule, Hypær is the fragrance.

Hypær by Aether Parfums 2018

Hypær Aether Fragrantica

Parfumo gives these featured accords:
Cashmeran, Tripal, Kephalis, Ambrettolide, Musk T®

The whole new series is really interesting. They seem ultra sheer and light with my nose up close but in sillage they are extremely diffusive and attention grabbing. I also feel that the more I wear Hyper the better I’m able to smell it.

While the fragrance doesn’t smell exactly like anything there are a few things it seems to allude to. Warm skin that’s been in the sun, creamy woods, hot pavements, metal, fresh toast, macaroons and a light healthy sweat. Remember, I’m not saying this is what Hypær smells like but references, where my mind jumps to.

Created synthetic molecules are going to be a personal journey for you. Correlations will depend far more on your previous scent experiences than naturals and captured molecules. I think where your mind takes you is far less specific, more open to remembrances and interpretation.

I love how safe and comforted Hypær leaves me feeling. For something so modern and created it has a remarkable hug like embrace.

Ooooh, I love scents like this! It’s funny, I clearly have some anosmia issues, and when I go looking for the scent I can’t always find it, but these types leave a little aura around you that I find bewitching.

  • Portia says:

    Hey tena,
    What was your favourite?

I have the Aether Sample set – there are some scents in it that didn’t suit, and some that made me go “Ohhh”
A great deal of skill is needed to create scents like these.

I don’t think F. Malle Dans Tes Bras is fully synthetic, but with the large dose of cashmeran it feels that way to me, and I do love it.

  • Neva says:

Synthetic perfumes can be tricky but are interesting as an experiment. I really love how Molecule 01 smells on my daughter. On me, I don’t get that beautiful woody scent so I don’t wear it. Odeur 53 from CdG is also interesting for it opens differently depending on one person’s skin. Actually to me most of the CdG perfumes have a synthetic quality. Some I like, some I avoid but I haven’t bought a FB till now.
    I’m curious about Hypaer anyway.

      Hey Neva,
Yes, the fully synth frags are interesting. Often they smell best as they float by rather than nose to wrist.
